Good choice!
Hi folks, hope everyone is well.
-
I fancy it today.
Just waiting for the little terror to wake up from her afternoon nap and spoil my peace and soccer saturday. Wonder if in her little mind she'll be f*cked off that I make her spend saturday afternoon indoors. This is how to breed an alty fan I guess.
Is Denham named only. I thought he had no chance of playing?
-
fine thanks JD and yourself?
-
Looks like Lawton on the right wing. I simply cannot understand this when we've got Sheridan on the bench.
-
i still dont know how we lost last week
-
fine thanks JD and yourself?
Not so bad ta. Looking forward to what should be an interesting match.
-

Agreed, but maybe there is something about Lawton's presence that adds an edge to the other players.
-
Sounds like we've made a cracking start!
-
Lawton gets them going,is Danylk not out wide?
-
Balloon scores for Sunderland v Liverpool!
-
seems its all us at the moment
-
Sounds like a good crowd as well
-
I notice Mansfield 2 up at Eastbourne - a few injuries there would not do us any harm!
-
6 corners?
I do hope weve been working on these set plays, although the stats suggest we're up to our usual.
These commentators are the best ive heard on these bbc local radio broadcasts.
-
from what i saw of Mansfield,i am not worried about next week
-
from what i saw of Mansfield,i am not worried about next week
The way I see it, we've got nothing to lose next week. We're expected to get knocked out so if we do get a replay or even a win it will be most gratefully received. For the record, I feel we're capable of getting a replay at the very least.

There will be a lot of determination, especially if the players have been reading the forum!
-
another side raising their game against Luton?
-
Afternoon all, come on Alty.
Good choice Harold.
-
Hi SW thank you,i've eaten the beef have two corned beef left now
-
I wish we had made more of our early 6 corners
-
Afternoon all.
Looking forward to this one, I must admit I prefer us as the underdogs with no pressure rather than feeling we need to get points of the likes of Gateshead at home. Nothing to lose today, I'd take a point and a clean bill of health ready for next week.
-
Sounds like Danylik is doing a lot of work & playing well
Sounds like we need to watch this Gnapka bloke tho
-
"Heathcote does apoplexy well!"
Can't say I'd ever noticed
-
who's captain today?
-
who's captain today?
You seem to have stumped us all with that one!
-
255 minutes of open play against Luton without a goal
-
Half time & it sounds like we have been pretty solid.
I agree with the commentators, sounds like could end up 0-0, won't be too unhappy with that.
-
Solid stuff and we have options on the bench for later in the game.
All to play for!
-
Anyone got a source at the game, do we look sound? Many there, good few from Luton?
2000th post!
-
I'm looking forward to MotD tonight to see Sunderland's (1st) goal.
Looks like it was an own goal off a Liverpool balloon!

Nice one Jimmy, thanks.
I can't believe how quickly its on YouTube!

I'm walking The Thames Path at the mo, bit by bit. I get out when I can now as I'll have to stop for winter soon as the nights are drawing in.
-
sounds interesting walk
-
Its well punctuated with pubs!

Does it go from source to estuary?
-
Going the other way, started at Thames Barrier, and hoping to get to the source but logistics get tricky beyond Oxford as the transport is less regular.
-
Would certainly take a point today....
-
Free bog roll thrown into the ground - that'll cut costs!
-
Hi USA,points ok,but i want 3 lol,25 minutes for a cup of tea last week,queue was horrendous
-
Not seen that for a few years!
-
Not seen that for a few years!
I take it thats the bog role (not the cup of tea!)
Good plug for Carol Nash (all of them!)
-
Negative as its sounds, I would take a 0-0 draw.
-
time for a corned beef sandwich

time for a corned beef sandwich
If we score now.....!

time for a corned beef sandwich
This could be a crucial decision
-
Little doesn't seem to be in the game much but Burns seems to be getting some good posession
-
1762
-
Attendance 1,762
-
1762 attendance, 640 from Luton (which means over 1000 Alty fans?)
-
Who's this Jason Smith geezer we seem to have signed... ;D
Went close there...
-
Great effort to have 1000 alty fans in today. Even better if we snatch one. By all accounts we wouldnt be lucky to win.
-
best shot of the game then from Little
-
last minute signing with nicky clay
-
its James jason smith rofl
-
1762 attendance, 640 from Luton (which means over 1000 Alty fans?)
If you work on the basis they've also got 50 in the main stand as well I would say we've got about 1050 there which is good.
-
Little doesn't seem to be in the game much but Burns seems to be getting some good posession
and then little has the best shot of the match!
-
Totally unarsed about Rotherham v Bedford!!
-
1762's the highest so far, beats Chester by about 35.
-
Penalty!
-
CORNED BEEF PENALTY
-
C'mon Alty, make this pen count!
-
PENALTY
-
Penalty! Can we put one away against Luton PLEASE?
-
Where's Warren when we need him? oh....
-
Afternnon all, good time to sign in eh?
If we miss I'll log off!
-
blast saved
-
bye all!
-
Oh FFS!
-
BOLLOCKS
-
FFS!!!
-
FFS I could cry
-
Not again.
-
sh*t gets worse
-
If the players were moaning enough to delay the kick for that long how did it not result in a booking?
-
Oh FFS again!
-
FFS
-
FFS! Bet they score it to >:(
-
Double FFS!
We have a poor penalty record over the last season year. They have to get the basics right (pens and corners)
-
dont believe this game
-
We appeared not to contest the decision as long as they did. Still Col should be experienced enough to deal with that.
-
Little's penalty taking record is awful for a player of his quality.
-
In fairness to the commentators there's some sensible comments about the refereeing.
-
Incredible we miss a pen then a minute later they score one.
There was long delay with Colin taking his Pen, with Luton players continuing arguing with the ref - who didnt even book any Luton player. A dsadvantage to Colin.
-
Double FFS!

Doesn't help that our regular penalty taker is sat in the stands suspended.

But players at this level should be able to put a penalty away, especially someone with Col's experience.
-
Welch for Lawton.
-
I always get nervous when Col takes a penalty, i never think he is going to score them. I'd have let Densmore take it personally but there we go.

To be fair, he didnt miss it, it was saved. If it was a poor penalty then whatever, at least he didnt balloon it over/wide etc
-
To be honest I think we're seriously over-analysing the missed pen situation. Penalties get scored and missed by the best players in the world. It's a lottery and this time it's not gone our way.
It's not worth losing any sleep over.
-
I wonder which foot he took it with? ::)
-

Good call. Defenders seem to often be better pen takers. Col is an instinctive scorer - I fear having to think too much about a shot is not a good thing for most forwards.
-
I always think the best penalty nowadays is the full powered shot, even through the centre. Most keepers will not have the time to react to those.
-
They said his left foot.
-
The BBC have problems with corners as well:
Correction - 64:30
Inswinging corner taken from the right by-line by Tom Kearney, clearance made by Ed Asafu-Adjaye.

-
well done Stu, looks like he's on good form again
-
Under the cosh a bit now, sounds like Stuart has stopped them increasing the lead.....
-
Last minute redeeming equalizer from Col Little anyone????? ::)
-

We're still in this
-
Hayes beating cambridge 3-0
-
Afternoon all, just tuned in after painting ceilings...unfortunately, it's looking like another great performance with nothing to show...god damn, didn't really expect too much, but you always hope.....COME ON ALTY....
Have they announced the attendance yet and how many from Luton?
-
C'mon Alty, stop giving the ball away!
-

1700 odd with 640 from Luton - its in the thread somewhere!
-
Sounds like our players are absolutely out on their feet.
-
Thanks JD, I was being too lazy to trawl back through...well I am juggling painting duties with cooking for my elderly mother and trying to keep tabs on Alty....all this while my better half is winging her way over to Madrid for a jolly four days.....think I may go out and soak my aching limbs in alcohol later.
-
still got pearson on the bench
-
Sounds like our players are absolutely out on their feet.
Sounds like they have worked hard and Luton sound a well organised team
-

Prioritise!
The elderley mother will have to miss out!
-
5 minutes injury time
-
5 mins injury time - enough time for 2 goals (hopefully for Alty mind!)
-
pearson on for clee
-
pearson on for clee
A bit late
-
c'mon Alty FFS
-
true 88th minute
-
Worth a punt and Clee's on a booking.
-
On the plus side no injuries or sendings off
-
2 home games 2 defeats lets get back on the road
-
probably 11th, so still in top half!
-
0-1 ft. Could have been so different but still we just need to get back on track soon. Sounded like we played well and just ran out of steam 2nd half...
-
Thats all folks
Dissapointing not to get the point.
Luton may be the better team with a better manager by the sounds of things from the commentators, who were very good.
Now off to take Jennifer for a walk .............
if I can find the lead!
See you later folks
-
they reckon their goalie should be man of the match with his fantastic save from col,so maybe on another day col would have scored :)
-
Ho hum - 3 points from Rushden, Mansfield and Luton is OK. I'm more bothered by Cup and Trophy this year. Looks like the league could be a mid table obscurity season which is great if not as exciting as recent seasons!
-
Disappointing, but we wouldn't have expected much from this before the start of the season. Shows how far we've come. Expectation can be a dangerous thing.
-
time for me to go as well
-
chateuaneuf du pape to drown my sorrows.
Unlucky there by the sounds of it. It does frustrate me that we run out of wind, but theres nothing we can do about it in this league.
-
It is disappointing and frustrating but a few seasons ago we were regularly getting tonked 5-0 at home by the top teams, so its perspective really. We just need to get some more points on the board so we keep the tempo up and do not become despondent and stagnate.
-
Other than a one minute period where we missed a penalty and they scored one it seemed that the game was pretty even, perhaps with Luton just having the edge*.
One good thing is that, quite clearly, we didn't lose because the opposition had a bigger budget than us - we lost because of one minute when we cocked up and they didn't.
However, perhaps this means that we shouldn't be so forgiving when we play well but lose to 'superior' opposition? If Little hadn't missed we could have won today (possibly).
* I wasn't there so let me know if I'm talking nonsense.

Excellent choice! Better than Harold's Corned beef sarnies I daresay!

From the commentary we just edged the first half but Luton had the 2nd - stronger & fitter. Sounds like a commendable performance from Alty against a well organised team.

Uo until they scored we looked like the only team that was going to win the game. Once they scored they could have a bag full but that was because we had to push up. John Laidlar sums it up on the main website
-
in fairness i only remember col missing against green slime .wats all this about awful record.anyone know his full pen record for alty.and he takes pens when matty doughty is on field ala stevenage
-
Its actually more frustrating watching us match these "bigger clubs" then getting dicked 4 nil!
However it shows what a massive step change we have made- disapointed again today but 10 out of 10 for effort :)
-
I wouldn't have said Luton looked particularly well organised. They were there for the taking today.

See my comment on the Colin Little penalty thread - not so much a miss as a decent save ! Stu had a blinder, but went the wrong way for their pen. I thought we were much the betterside for an hour, but there seemed little chance of a goal apart from the penalty.
Once again
-
Sorry - to continue......
Once again we slipped away in the last half hour as superior fitness took a hand. When Danylyk, who'd put in one Hell of a shift, came off he was like a dead man walking.
Clee had run his heart out too, but had no more to offer and was on a yellow - I thought the pen was a tad harsh from where I was standing.
Burns too ran out of steam, but had shown some nice stuff earlier.
Taking nothing away from Stu (what would we do without him ?), Smith was absolutely massive today and was clearly MY man of the match.
-
Again Stu makes the NLP Team of the Week selection

Again Stu makes the NLP Team of the Week selection
He's having arguably his best season ever for us at the moment. I still can't believe he was second choice at Leigh a few years ago!
