For the purposes of research about the thinking of different generations.

Personally, I think both of them are showers of b*****ds with Macc just edging it.

I was stunned the other day when someone suggested us hosting Vics games if their ground was unavailable, but it suggests another method of making your mind up ...

Which of those two would you most hate to be using ML for their home matches?

That was me and I'm suprised at the reaction, I dislike both macc and the vics as much as the next man however,
1. how humiliating to play the games at moss lane
2. I would rather they survived so we could play them each year, what happens when they have all gone to the wall, this league is too southern biased as it is.

however each to their own.

Each to their own indeed. However,

Now that we haven't played Macc competitively for some while, do the younger ones on here really understand or care about the 'rivalry' which existed between us? If Vics go down (or do a 'Halifax'), ten years from now will the youngsters of tomorrow be saying the same thing about them?

In the final analysis, I'm only concerned about us...

But have a G to show I respect your opinion!

I would say Northwich as they have been in the same division as us for more seasons than Macc have. Macc not only have been in the League for the past 10 years, but remained in the NPL when the APL/Conference first started. If you are talking similar standard and closest rivals distance wise, then it would be Stockport, but they have never been in the same division as us since the Cheshire League days when we played their reserves. There is not really any rivalry butween us and County and rivalry with Macc is historic. Looks like Northwoch could soon be historic too.

I suppose it's Northwich these days since we actually play them.

Bit like the way Leeds have fallen below City in rivalry terms for United, it becomes less important when you never play them.

PS. Having said that if we drew Macc in the Cup I'm sure I'd revert to putting Macc top of the list!

An enemy is still an enemy even if you never play them. Time does not remove the hatred.

Would have to be Northwich for me (but only just; it's like my wallet, there's nothing in it). As Redhill pointed out, I've seen us play Vics far more than Macc as we've been in the same division for much longer than us and Macc.
