Graham Heathcote - Current Longest Serving Conference Manager?
« on: January 06, 2009, 03:16:17 PM »

Nigel Clough’s impending appointment at Derby will remove the longest serving manager from the Conference, as he had done over 10 years service with Burton, with 7 seasons in the Conference.

So will that now make the ‘Cote the current longest serving manager with one club in the Conference?

I reckon Steve Fallon has been at Histon also for over 10 years but of course only 2 of those have been in the Conference.

I also reckon that Nick Holmes of Salisbury has been there since August 2002 but again only 2 of those have been in the Conference.

So, now in his 4 consecutive season in the Conference, is the ’Cote the longest serving manager at the same club in the Conference?

If so, well done GH and keep up the good work!

those protesters at Burscough

There was no "protest" at Burscough, something which you and GH have both incorrectly asserted in recent times. The crowd was just subdued - there is a massive difference and you ought to think before you make accusations like this.

The Altrincham team that played at Burscough that day badly let themselves down never mind the fans.  We were awful that day more than awful, hence why its a match thats always sticks in my mind.

We won the Burscough game 3-0. The crowd was subdued because we had been dumped out of the cup at Guiseley on the Saturday.

I'd already arrived at the same conclusion.  :D

However, I do also recall the woeful performance to which you referred.

I was at that game it was stunned silence, from me not because we were out of the cup but because I had a lot of respect for Bernard and felt sorry for him.

Totaly agree with this mate but couldn't find the right way to word it earlier. It most certainly was not a protest.

There was a decision taken not to sing.....whether that constitutes a protest I am not sure.

Whether it was a protest or not (and I still believe it wasn't) is largely irrelevant. The point is it didn't need bringing up again over 6 years later.

The toilets at burscough were great though, due to the location and size of pee wall, you could watch the game and have a piss at the same time
