Really vital that either Hampson or White are fit.
Thompson
Morgan Mullarkey Cooper White
Marriott Moult Osbourne
Kosylo Hulme Colclough
Its a game we're more than capable of winning but we need to believe and cut out silly mistakes.
Alty 2-0 Woking (Hulme, Colclough)
-
In his post-Solihull debacle interview with Brian Flynn, Phil Parkinson bemoaned that the fixture list has conspired against us recently.
Well, Saturday could definitely be a contrasting instance of the gods working in our favour on this particular occasion.
Woking have lost seven of their last 10 National League and FA Trophy fixtures - plus they have recently sold their leading goalscorer Tahvon Campbell to Rochdale and their attacking midfielder Max Kretzschmar may not be available, as he missed their 1-0 home defeat against Yeovil Town last Saturday owing to injury.
Surely, this constitutes a golden opportunity for Alty to stop the rot and record a long-overdue victory (the first on home soil in almost four months!)?
Meanwhile, King's Lynn play Weymouth, so a draw would do us nicely there.

I think I'd prefer a Kings Lynn victory - Weymouth are showing some signs of fighting spirit, but Lynn look more or less dead already.

Agree.

I was thinking more of not giving King's Lynn any hope/encouragement just a week before we are scheduled to play them!

Very well summed up Cult. A week to get last Saturday’s nonsense out of our system & against a Woking team who have lost as many games as we have in the league this season. Cooper was highly rated in his spell at Darlo so he should come in and improve the defence straight away & assuming Hulme will be back too. If we are going to get out of our slump then I honestly don’t think we’ll get a better chance.

Yes without White (or Hampson) you'd have to go Densmore, Mullarkey, Cooper, Morgan.
Quite frankly that scares the living daylights out of me
-
Personally, I'd be ok with that.

Fully agree with this. Just shows how far our expectations have plummeted.
-
Agree with the team but want Densmore in at right back with Morgan on the left. He may have lost a yard or two of pace over the years but he rarely makes a mistake and he's the sort of player I want in a game like this.
It would be a bit of good luck if Kretzschmar is out, he's a good player.
We will win this with a little bit of confidence, and a lot more competency. We could really do with something going right for us early on to settle us and build self belief. We cannot have a mountain to climb after 20 minutes again.
Come on Alty.

Agree with this. Wouldn't have Moult cross the half way line and just sit right in front of the back four and let Osborne and Marriott push on. Need big performances from everyone on Saturday. I hope we see the old Colclough on Saturday.
-
I guess it will have to be Dens and Morgan in the full back positions as it will take something of a miracle for either White or Hampson to reappear.

Think your correct unless a new loanee comes in, Hampo or White won't be match fit so would doubt they would start in any case.
I'm hoping for an upturn in fortune and a much improved performance.
-
I think we all are! 😉
-
I'm feeling optimistic. It must be the lighter nights!

Just asking for a friend. Can you pay on the gate for the Woking game, if so, which gate is entry for payers on the gate?

Hi Steve, 99% sure you can pay on the gate, it will be a Golf Rd turnstile, sure I read it somewhere
-
Dave, thanks for your reply. I thought the same as you, but quite a few wish to go from the Alty Juniors girls. As a season ticket holder they have asked me, but I don't want to miss-inform them. I have rang the club and left a message as there is nobody answering.
-
You can definitely pay on the gate tomorrow 100%.
-
Hi Steve - sorry for the lack of response thus far. There will be cash turnstiles at the Golf Road and for the Main Stand tomorrow and planned for every remaining home game.
-
With three new signings coming in this week I’m hopeful of getting all 3 points tomorrow.
Alty 2 - 1 Woking.
Golden goal being scored by Alty (would be nice for a change)
1756.att.
The fightback begins tomorrow 🤞🤞🤞
Onwards & Upwards
-
I can't see him starting all 3 to be honest. They are all very young. Hoping at least Cooper starts though.
-
My guess would be LB and CB to start with winger probably coming on from the bench
-
no dens at all today
Tony Thompson, Jake Moult (c), Dan Mooney, Elliot Osborne, Ryan Colclough, Jake Cooper, Jamie Morgan, Toby Mullarkey, Eddy Jones, Jordan Hulme, Chris Conn-Clarke. Subs: Matty Kosylo, Ben Pringle, Kennedy Digie, A-Jay Leitch-Smith, Isaac Marriott.
-
All 3 new players in. Bold.
-
does anyone think that Dens will not be here next season?

Beginning to look like we won't be here next season 🙄😒

I'd never say that under ANY circumstances.
-
Glad we stopped the rot, but we cannot keep leaking goals as we do and if not for TT would have been a rugby score, he made a number of top draw saves. Thought second half we applied ourselves better but so frail at the back and midfield is poor.
Glad Coco got a brace, hopefully help his confidence.
-
We really have to beat Kings Lynn and Weymouth now.
Their result today was perfect for us.
10 points clear with 17 to go. 🤪
-
There were 2 major areas of concern for me today. Jake having to cover at centre back for much of the first half left us terribly exposed in midfield. The lack of a proper defensive right back was exploited by Woking again and again throughout the game. Morgan is not a full back.
Against good teams, we will get punished. Hopefully any one of White, Hampson or Hannigan will be back soon.
-
does anyone think that Dens will not be here next season?
There wont be more than 4 of the current squad here next season
-
Have you got next week's lottery numbers?
-
does anyone think that Dens will not be here next season?
There wont be more than 4 of the current squad here next season
I think that's pretty much correct. I've worked through it and would expect only about 6 or 7 to still be with us.

I also agree. We were poor for a lot of today's game, and were very lucky to get a point. We're still playing far too many balls backwards and sideways. Woking seemed to have far more energy than we did.
-
Marriott should have played instead of Moult, I would have had Kossy in for Mooney
Con-Clarke looked good. Eddie Jones was OK
I’m sorry but we still piss about too much at the back. Probably because there isn’t much movement in forward positions
Today my golden goal ticket said 0-0 Fulltime… well that lasted all of 30 seconds.
TT saved us from another pasting today. Worthy of MoM
Glad we got a draw … did we deserve to draw? Not sure about that.
Hope Hannigan is back for next week.
Must win fixture next Saturday.
-
Could and in all honesty should have been 3 or 4 down by half time. We are so poor at the back its painful to watch. I know it's how we play but they need to stop pissing around with the ball at the back.
Heard that Osbourne has never missed a pen before. Sums up our season that
-
Presumably, Sutton doesn't want to return to Alty. How we could do with his experience at the moment.
-
I thought we finished very strongly after an absolutely terrible start. It did look at the start as if the defence had never played together, but, well, they hadn't. It was very unfortunate, and a mistake by the referee, to blow so early rather than to allow an advantage before the penalty; there clearly was a possible advantage as the ball went in the back of the net, although he had equally clearly stopped play before then.
I did like Chris Conn-Clark of the newcomers, and must be a glass half full person as it does feel like this could be the point which will keep us up. Not so much for the point in itself, but for the confidence induced and the proof that we can come back to get something from a game.
-

As part of a defence that shipped 5 goals at Bradford PA this afternoon, I wouldn't think he'd be a great step up on our other options.

Why? Have I missed something?

Due to macc going bust there’s only 3 relegation spots

Ah yes of course! I would rephrase it as thank God Macc Town went bust! I wouldn't wish it on any club but Macc Town and their scumbag fans are a worthy exception

Didn't go yesterday, but happy to take the positives.
Being 0-2 down and drawing 2-2 is certainly a better outcome for morale than being 2-0 up and drawing 2-2.
The Kings Lynn Weymouth game went the way we wanted it to, and we'll probably have enough to stay up.
Hopefully 2 weak southern teams will come up - because based on Kiddy's showing yesterday and the fact we've been dumped out of the cup by Fylde and Gateshead, 2 strong northern teams will be joining us.
I yearn for the days when we barely used any players because we knew our best XI and they stayed fit. Hardly many fan's favourites on the pitch at the moment.
How did the pitch hold up?

To LeedsLeeds Alty . Correction accepted SBL

The pitch was generally good, given the weather, muddy in the goalmouths that was about it. See that Halifax, Rochdale and Salford were all waterlogged off, so credit to the new drainage for allowing the game to go ahead. Very likely we'd have to postpone that a year ago.
As for the game - just a yawning gap in our midfield right from the kick off and they went straight through to score. Their keeper made a pretty good penalty save, then we stood off their lad who produced a decent shot to be fair for the second. Tony T kept us in it with some superb saves when he was badly exposed again.
Credit to the lads though for fighting back from 2-0. Coco's second was a great individual effort. Conn Clarke had a decent debut.
-
Did Conn-Clarke start at No10? I thought he was more of a winger...

Yes, but he moved to the right when Dan Mooney went off.
Decent debut for him too.

Something of a game of two halves yesterday. Having conceded in the first 30 seconds and then taken another hit by allowing their striker to get into space and shoot, the conversations I had at half-time were mostly about damage limitation. However, I thought that we showed some fight in the second half and there were periods when we actually looked dangerous and (dare I say it?) confident with the ball. Yes, TT kept us in it with some spectacular saves (that deservedly got him his MotM award) but we matched Woking in the second half and I would argue deserved a share of the points. Thought the noisy response from the fans was terrific and showed that there is a desire both on and off the pitch to get through this and secure safety.
-
Forgive me if this is rather stretching things by means of an extreme analogy but after yesterday's game it felt like we'd almost mirrored the recent traumatic experience of that Bowdon Preparatory School for Girls headteacher who was driving her car along Dunham Road last week when a large tree fell and almost crushed her vehicle, temporarily trapping her inside.
The shock of a truly calamitous first half, particularly that inexcusable opening goal, followed by a second-half escape via salvaging a draw from the wreckage. Thankfully, that victim of the accident is now on the way to recovery and you can only hope that yesterday afternoon's Alty comeback comprises a similarly pivotal positive outcome in the context of our season.
Hats off to Tony Thompson for the key saves that gave us a platform even to rescue a point. Woking must be kicking themselves for not putting the game to bed in the second half, though.
It's quite extraordinary that even after a run of 18 league games (since our last home win back on 9th October) in which we have recorded merely a single victory and accumulated only nine points out of a possible 54, we still remain 10 points above the relegation zone!
In his latest post-match interview (what is that backdrop, incidentally?!), I was pleased to hear Phil Parkinson acknowledge both the backing and forbearance that the home supporters exhibited yesterday.
Does Ryan Colclough ever score a humdrum goal..?
-
At half time yesterday I'd decided to miss the rest of the season. By full time I'd changed my mind.
-

Funny you should say that....
-
For 89 mins 43 secs we were the better team!
-
Having just watched the highlights, I have to say we were very lucky to get that point. Colclough's dive for the free kick that led to our first was pretty blatant. I thought the referee's assistant on the Popular Side was garbage all afternoon, but his missing that one did us a massive favour.
I do, however, think that the keeper's foul on Hulme should have been a penalty - but we'd probably have missed it anyway.
-
I don't think he dived for the free kick. More like dived because he thought he was going to get clattered and he probably would have done if he hadn't jumped. I agree that contact was minimal in the end.
-
We should have lost that and would have done without Tony Thompson, but it could turn out to be a valuable result if we build on it this weekend. Massive psychological boost to come back and get something from that game, regardless.
Positives are I thought Conn-Clarke showed a lot of potential, Colclough looked a little more like himself, Thompson was fantastic and the fans stuck behind them - but some of these goals that we are conceding straight through the middle are horrific. All told, I don't think much changed in that game that we haven't seen in recent weeks. Awful start, struggled to deal with the press, found ourselves with a mountain to climb and looked better when the opposition started backing off. Difference is this time we managed to rescue it and had a few things go our way, for a change (soft foul for the free-kick, keeper should really be saving the second.)
Hopefully it does a little bit for our confidence and we can take another step forward again at King's Lynn. That was a baby step on Saturday though.

This fan base is pretty special really . The way we got behind the team after the last 20 plus games and the first half shows how much we want to help drive success
Up the reds 🤛🤛❤️❤️👏👏

Well said Wayno! 👍
Come on you Super Robins.
