Altrincham FC First Team / Re: does heathecote know what he's doing?
« on: February 10, 2007, 11:28:15 PM »

GH has been trying to get a couple of signings in, he knows where we need players, but with our limited finances it is not so easy to get the players we need.
You make a good point about Rod and Senior swapping positions - defenses do not like to much movement by the opposition.

The team can play better and, I believe, will. A couple of decent results and belief will return.

Does GH know where we need players? GH has brought in a left back that at the moment doesnt seem any better than what we had (Peyton, C. Adams). I wouldnt be arsed if it was something new BUT the defence situation has been around for years, GH has known we needed better defence, but still hasnt really made many attempts to bring in the sort of defenders we need. The usual excuses of finance come up, but we are a part-time team, surely there ARE players out there who would want to play for us? Maybe its the case of GH becoming too loyal to certain players?

Todays performance was really really bad, it was all over in less than 30 seconds, we kick off and give the ball away 1-0 york. The problem with the team is the same problem that we have had for the last couple seasons. We carnt defend. Instead, other than bringing in Scott, all other signings have been either midfield (bushell, bowler) or strikers (Thompson, O'Neill, Senior). The defence hasnt really changed over the last few seasons, despite everyone knowing that it is the one area that needs improving.

As for today, i was one (of the few) who stayed right till the end, the performance wasnt great, at not many positives came from the game. Another point, when playing thornley on the wing, why carnt he and senior keep swapping positions and try cause some problems for the opposition defence??

We know this team can play better, it is about time the lads showed the fans just how good they are.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Team Formation as a whole
« on: January 29, 2007, 01:53:26 PM »
See what you think of this

We play a 4-4-2 formation but an attacking formation with the wingers bombing on,

GK - Coburn

RB - Aspinall
CB - Band
CB - Muroe
LB - Scott

RM - Lawton
CM - Bushell
CM - Own
LM - Senior

CF - Little
CF - O'Neill

Subs - Acton, Rose, Peyton, Thornley, Chalmers

Now this is a strong team with strong subs.

It would only work if Little and O'Neill had Senior and Lawton pushing up.

When/If Senior gets tired bring on Peyton or Thornley or Chalmers.

Not bad, but against southport i would like to see something like this:

GK. Coburn
LB. Peyton
RB. Rose
CB. Munroe
CB. Band

LW. Senior
RW. Thornley
CM. Chalmers
CM. Lawton

CF. Little
CF. O'Neill

Subs
McFadden, Owen, Aspinal, Tommo, Bushell

I would like to see the wingers swapping over, would really give the opposition's defence something to think about and would get some great balls into the box. Think defensively i would prefer Rose at right back whose better at defensive duties. Midfield wise, bush and val have done extreemly well, but think especially against southport, that lawton and chalmers would support the wingers and strickers better.

I would love to see danny back in an alty shirt. sure would fix a problem on the left.

Question is who would YOU prefer to play for GH or Sammy "vulture" Mcilroy ???

Perhaps a FGR esque wip round for his wages ;D

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: AFC Wimbledon
« on: January 25, 2007, 11:43:49 PM »
This is terrible news for football. Why should a player, who has played in the same league require international clearance in the first place??

As we all know at alty the FA are really pathetic to acknowledge that a stupid rule exists, and not be bothered to change it. I feel extremely sorry for AFC wimbledon, as this will severely affect their promotion chances, but will not lead to relegation (as our case did).

When will the lovely guys as soho square realise that football exists lower than the premiership. After we were all informed that this rule was being looked at again, another team is affected by this laughable rule.

Still a bit strange, havent we got Thornley, Little, O'Neill, McFadden (who has been very impressive lately) and the big man Thompson. I would have prefered a left sided player to come in, maybe there is still some time for new players still ??

Admitadly Senior is supposed to be a good finisher, but havent we already got Rod and Colin for that?? Or does GH know something we dont.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: How can this be allowed ?
« on: January 18, 2007, 03:29:05 AM »
Well Crawley are still bringing new players in (paying them too id expect) which means the level of debt increases not decreases. How can a club with no money decent enough players on crowds of 1105. We know how hard it is with the same sort of attendances, and seem to be a lot better organised. Until the conference does something about financing clubs, then this will still happen.

Crawley also seem to have been given more and more time by the CVA deadlines pass and nothing really happens. Best waiting to see what Mr Peake will do at the end of season gathering.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Lewis's best position
« on: January 11, 2007, 01:20:55 AM »
Well i think we have found Bushell's replacement for the future. Totally think that Lewis has everything a midfielder needs, against R & D he was commanding in the centre tackling; hold up play; distribution........everything you need.

WHAT DO YOU THINK HIS BEST POSITION LEFT MIDFIELD OR CENTRE ?? ;D

Best thing about lewis is his ability to play anywhere in midfield. I feel thought that he is more of a centre mid guy, but has had to play out of position. Strangely i think this has improved his game, lewis is a good passer, tackler, and has a very good shot. He is growing in ability, and confidence. Unfortunately there will come a time that we will need to sell him. At the moment lewis should be in the starting line up for every game. Along with Pat two youngsters who have impressed a lot in this season.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Pottsy and the winger situation
« on: December 18, 2006, 10:30:34 PM »
as i see things, were supposed to have a better team than last year  ??? ???.
have we?? were lower than last season, and dont look like scoring goals.

i dont think you liked pottsy from last year, he was by far the most creative player we had, and at the moment, we could really do the width
like he could offer, and could create a chance from nowhere.

the performance against tamworth was truly awul, i amongst quite a few, would have rather watched macc town than that so-called footy game. we need width, we are playing far too defensive, last season we would have stayed up on merit. this season looks very different.the players need a kick up their arse. too many guys are not playing well. can we have a decent defence when craney is sold pls????
