Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Buzz
« on: March 10, 2017, 06:51:12 PM »
Whilst its good for the manager to hold these things, i do find it strange the stressing from Buzz that its him organizing the forum.

It would have made sense for the forum to take place after being arranged by a board member, but hey.

After all the criticism given against the chairman for lacking communication, is this just another example that he's lost confidence from more than just a few fans??

This could easily have been a PR plus for the chairman, which clearly it is not now.

There is no question that GR and his family have put a lot of effort into the club. Yet, if he didnt, there would be other people who would collectively put in the same amount of time and effort.
The review does have some interesting pieces in there, but for me, GR is not the person to take the review or Alty further.
He has presided over the worst showing in our history. The appointment of Tolson & Young were abject failures. Harvey inherited a load of rubbish and coudnt do much with it, same with Doughty.
In addition to the footballing, GR has shown continued inability to communicate effectively with the paying supporters.
From confronting fans at Braintree, the NLP article, the public shaming of "supporters" despite no evidence being shown that an Altrincham supporter was involved in any wrongdoing etc. This is not what the chairman should be doing.
GR has lost support from me.
GR may work well on the community side of things, but this should not be a cloud over any incoming Chairman.
Its not a case of no one being out there to take the role. There wasnt anyone when Goodwin took the job.

Look, its a good thing.

1) someone has actually read the forum and seen what the supporters are thinking
2) they have taken onboard what has been written from some faceless people & those who are recognisable
3) they have acknowledged shortcomings within the current structure
4) they have acknowledged where they can do better

Very positive and should be taken as so. Perhaps there is a person who has the balls to accept the club as a whole should and done better.

I hear Steve McLaren is studying at manc met for a ownership role.

Could approach him like Noel White to run and invest before going onto bigger things.

How do you know it's made up? As in evidence rather than speculation.

I agree with Cheshire Cat. The idea that this is a police matter is very strange. Many things happen in our lives that we find hugely unpleasant and distasteful without us going to the police about it. In fact people on this very thread have said that the chairman has permanently damaged the reputation of the club and poisoned the relationship between board and fans. If true - and people are entitled to their opinion - that's very serious and affects the lives of fans who live and breathe this club, and undoubtedly feel very hurt. But could you report GR's interview to the police, in the same way you want him or NY to report people who have offended them to the police?

For the record, I think Gr should have been more careful in what he said. There are lots of genuine, longstanding fans here who have taken genuine offence (and some who seem to have manufactured offence), and GR has a responsibility as chairman to be careful about that. But all of that can be true without people needing to throw around wild, baseless claims about lies or concoct fantasies that people should only complain in public about things that are worthy of police attention.

Well, the matter was so serious that our chairman laid into the all supporters with his notes. Since its being used as part of Young's resignation, presumably what happened was in poor taste and would be a form of harassment? Harassment is a criminal offence. This is why the  issue, if it is so serious to merit a person resigning from his job & comments from the chairman, should be reported to the police for further investigation.

Social media is easily traceable..... All it needs is for someone to confirm the issue has been reported......

I am very surprised, disappointed and saddened with the Chairman's notes. That was not the forum to start slagging off supporters. I have not seen any personal remarks regarding family members on twitter or this forum. Though I hope the Chairman has contacted the authorities, or at least spoken to those responsible.

I am really at a loss as to why these comments would be made to the non-league paper. It makes the club look pretty poor. Surely, our biggest attendance of the year would have required a more welcoming and appreciative tone, given that we havent won yet, however over 2355 turn up?

To say the whole board were supportive of Young is remarkable. Ive never seen such a poor & embarrassing showing. Yet, most of the players have improved with some decent tactics. It was quite clear that Young had to go after the Curzon game, although we haven't picked up any points, the performances have been better.

There is no doubt that Grahame and the Rowley's have done lots for Altrincham over the years. However, if they left tomorrow, their legacy will remain and someone else could bring in a much needed bond between all supporters. I do feel sorry for the Chairman, as you cannot please everyone all the time. However, looking where we are now, compared to last year or the year before I can easily see why some supporters are very upset. I fear that that there will be a division between some supporters and the Chairman, given the appetite for rounding the wagons and lashing out at those who dare to question the logic of some illogical decisions.

Sam isn't a right back and is better at centre half. He will develop into a decent player for us.

Today wasn't the best, but he'll learn and become a better player. He seemed to struggle with the pysicality of today's game and needed some encouragement.

He is comfortable on the ball and does have a good eye for the game.

Deasy will help him become a better defender.

Depends too much on what we dont know.

How many players have been signed on contracts to the end of the season? Of which, how many are utterly woeful? What wages are made available to bring players in? Realistically, where does our board want us to finish?

Any incoming manager wont want to work with some of the dross we have here. Really need someone who will quickly look to plug some gaps and bring in a couple decent defenders.

TBH i didnt think Dawber had done much wrong in the last few games. He's not helped by having a naff defense.

He's only going to get better with the more first team experience. He's made some very good saves, but needs to work on his kicking.

Having Deasy back is good, but may be a big negative for Dawber. I hope we continue to use and develop Dawber, as we could get a lot off him financially.

NY looked a decent appointment after success with Chester. Never got going here.

Some absolute wasteful garbage brought in. Didnt seem confident with his approach to the game or tatics.

Onwards, and hopefully upwards.

Add him to the other non prolific strikers we have then.

Hopefully the manager sees him as complementary to Reeves, rather than a replacement.

Stats show 41 goals in 259 appearances. Including 2 in 24 for York.

Didnt Joe O'Neill get 5 in 37 for York??

That was awful. Dawber not at fault for the goals, but didn't shine.
Healthote ok, but fluffed a couple chances.
We looked OK for the first 10 minutes in both halves, but we're than amazing shocking.

Don't think we had a shot on target, nearest being Lawies halfway lob.

Completely unacceptable against a team that was not brilliant either.

No width, no urgency to get forward or support for attacking or pressure.

Complete shambolic performance. Really fear for the rest of the season, unless some drastic changes are made.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: MESSAGE FOR GRAHAM ROWLEY AND FAMILY
« on: May 01, 2016, 05:03:44 PM »
Steve, Graham came over and approached the supporters. The supporters did not spot Graham.

Anyway, I was stunned Graham came over. Not the best decision in the world. What did he expect to get? A pat on the pack and a "well, there's always next year"? A round of applause for presiding over the cock up of Griffith, severe drop in form, inability to replace players & appointment of Tolson?

The fans in the area are frustrated with a relegation that many feel could have been avoided if better key decisions had been made.

One of Graham's points was that a manager was not available (of the 42 expressions of interest) after Sinnott leaving. He also did not want to listen to other supporters who were critical of Tolson's tenure. Nor did I like the Chairman shouting for someone to take over his job. It was a no win action that was, frankly, bizarre. Grahame should be applauded for the amount of work he has done for the club over the years, but needs to learn how to handle those who are severely angered with what has happened this season. A priority needs to be getting other people in to assist at this level. Unfortunately, I work out of the country for 10 months a year.

Lets also clear something else up. There was no abuse aimed at Graham's family, although I agree some of what was said in the heat of the moment was over the top.

Back to the match. It was awful. No ideas, no communication. The sort of thing I would expect from a pre-season friendly. Braintree didnt have to get out of 2nd gear. Rankine was off the pitch as soon as the whistle went. I felt sorry for Ginnelly who showed more passion than the rest of the squad.

The most frustrating element is that the group of players could and should have been good enough to avoid relegation, given the right management.

Anyway, Neil Young looks like a good appointment. Even if he has been out of work since leaving Stockport in January.

Deasy looked knackered and unable to kick a ball. Better options elsewhere.

Griffin seemed to have put more weight on and slower than the start of the season.

Leather was ok, but really should be in the centre. Reeves needs to come back fit for next season.

Lawrie may do a decent job in north, but not conference standard.

Rankine was probably changed and at the snack bar by the time the other players left the pitch.

Id look for

Densmore, leather, heathcote, Reeves & moult
