To be honest, a delegation of Rowley Out should meet Mr Rowley to discuss the above.

I support the protest, yet this is also a PR step by the Chairman, who should be called out on it.

Meet with him and ensure he is fully aware of what is expected.

His position really is untenable, as he has lost a wealth of the supporters trust and confidence. Not forgetting that the protest will only grow and hit season ticket sales and support for the remainder of this season and next season.

The financials will be worse if Mr Rowley continues.

Mr Rowley as publicly stated that he would step down if someone else comes in, perhaps with him clinging to power could be putting people coming in?

Sadly, yet another PR disaster after another.

Mr Rowley has split the fanbase and it cannot be fixed under his tenure.

He should relinquish the Chairmanship and allow the appointment of a fresh person to work with supporters and have ambition to push us forwards.

The gauntlet has been thrown down by Mr Rowley.

Though if he thinks its just 29 that want a different approach, he is sadly mistaken.

In regards to the attendance, the last worst attendance in the league was 1 April 2014, home to Boston where 650 turned up.

Our average for this season was 1246, nearly double what we had tonight.

Thriving.

That is not the problem quote. Go back a bit on this tread

If your reffering to the whole 17 tweets this has been covered by me. Go back in the thread.

If its not about the reference to the protest, what the hell is the issue?

Well, I wasnt at the game.

Had I been, i would have walked.

Dingo, there are many more than just the 24. Perhaps not as vocal, but at least these 24 were still paying....

https://twitter.com/altrinchamfc/status/843120452432224256

How does that not accurately reflect events?

What about the below? This is what was being referenced by the twitter post:
"15: A number of Alty fans (about two dozen it seems) leave terrace in protest at chairman".

Having just managed to read the "rant" I thank you for your impassioned input.

There are, however, a couple of inaccuracies within your rant, so lets have look at them.

Firstly, the only time one person has said coward was back in December. A single utterance. So not "some", just one. If you dont believe me, use the search function on the forum.

In regards to management, the first ill-fated mistake was appointing Tolson, which nailed relegation. Neil Young was a collective mistake of the whole board and has been accepted as such. What looked good on paper, had already been warned against by fellow supporters at Chester and Stockport. I do feel, if we had someone managed to stay up in the Conference National, Young would never had been given the job. Young was available when we went for Tolson. Harvey should have worked out better, but even he was unable to get anything out of the dross we have ended up with this season.

In which extreme circumstances have Rowley and his family stuck by this football club? We are financially sound, volunteer driven. Clearly, if Rowley was not at the club, someone else would step into the role(s) that he and his family currently hold. No one is bigger than the football club.

I would expect the Chairman to be present at meetings and organising, this is his job. No one has actually criticised Mr Rowley for his effort or passion, quite the opposite actually. Even throughout this whole sorry mess, most have praised Mr Rowley and his family for their extensive work. Just because someone works hard and has his heart in the right place doesn't make them the right person for the job. A key lesson of business and people management.

Even if Mr Rowley left, we still have a board (unless they quit). We would also have players and a manager contracted to the club, so your point regarding fulfilling fixtures can only be looked at as scaremongering and is, quite frankly, ridiculous.

I am saddened that these fractures within the support have appeared. It is a sad day when a notable amount of supporters pack up and end up leaving.

Yes it is embarrassing that we are at a situation where many long time Altrincham supporters are upset with the performance both on and off the pitch. This season has been disgraceful. Yet, I would not say this is a personal vendetta against Mr Rowley.
This is supporters having ambition that we should and could do better with an alternative Chairman who would hopefully give better guidance and bring the skills and experience so desperately needed. Any football club suffering successive relegations need to ask deep and difficult questions. More so when the football club is on perfect and solid financial platform, having recently increased its off-pitch revenues and had a cash injection of selling a player to a premier league team.

Many of us remember the cold and horrible trips to Frickley & Blyth. I remember being part of the 478 standing on the terrace on December evening playing Vauxhall Motors. Some people may accept that we are going to ply our trade in the Evostick Premier and be happy about it. Which Man City supporter was happy about playing in League One?

Saying that our confidence went in the fourth game and never returned is a real damnation of our season. It also doesnt take into the account the 8 new players Buzz has brought in. Having won 2, drawn 4 and lost 9, the jury is still out on whether they should be in charge for next season. So 10 points from 15 matches.  Are you seriously happy with that return?

What happens if we dont get promoted next season? Would it not be better to have a fresh start now, to get the whole club organised into a solid unified unit for our assault on the Evostick Premier?

In regards to the twitter boys. They have not done anything wrong. At the most, this should just have been a private conversation between the Director who looks after PR, Chairman and the lads. It is another PR catastrophe that Mr Rowley has a history of doing. The tweet, was innocuous and didnt even state what the protest was about (unlike the matchday updates).

It is well known that Stacey Rowley works extensively within the community part. Any person, steward, turnstile operator or injured player could have counted the supporters leaving.

Of course, there is no mention of the Chairman's rant at supporters at Braintree, which for me was the straw that broke the camel's back. Nor the comments made about supporters to the NLP, the lacklustre strategic review, the reluctance to accept blame and now the alienating of long time loyal Altrincham supporters.

I am, sadly, in the belief that we should and could have been in a better position. The blame for the last 28 months ends at the Chairman. Mr Rowley's inability to communicate effectively is his downfall.

For me, who has seen Alty through the Maunders, Berman, Goodwin and Rowley era's, I have not witnessed anything like this before. We have had our challenges, which historically have brought the fanbase together. Sadly that is not the case now.

A truly sad time in our once proud history.

I stood in the second half where the protestors stood in the first and loads of leaflets were scattered on the ground there, which by there location would indicate they weren't even handed out.

Why did our social media guy not report the singing of cheerio cheerio, mmm wonder which way he lent.....

Got pictures to back it up then? or another load of fake news?

You are making yourself look rather silly now.....

Why would the official twitter feed mock its own fans?

to say it was "well applauded" is quite innocent and the similar to that reported in the non league daily.

GR financially wise I cant fault the man
Choices of manager recently haven't been great and he gave neil young to much power.

To be fair i was at the meeting when Neil young was introduced and I and most fans present were happy and applauded what he had to say other than Scott leather has been left go. I think most people were happy that he promised to be more vocal with the fans than sinnott.

For me I just don't think GR comes across well and he rubs people up the wrong way unintentionally, I hear he is a good man and as I live near the ground the number of times I drive past late in the evening and you see him locking up you know he loves the club.

If you have read anything on here, you'll understand that no one is knocking what Rowley has done. Clearly, he is passionate about Altrincham.

But you have also hit on the main element of being a Chairman. He cannot rub people up the wrong way. He is there to lead and facilitate. To engage in the community, which does include all supporters. Not just the ones he likes.

In my job, I deal with lots of unhappy people who have been annoyed with service delivery. Because of my understanding of the issues, i try dam hard to find common ground and solve the issue. I have turned many unhappy people around, and created many great friendships as a result.

Because of his arrogance and inability to communicate with supporters, he has lost and will continue to lose many long-term faithful supporters.

But our guy said it was well applauded and supported, which was inaccurate.

Is it?? depends on your definition of well doesnt it?? Does well = applause heard around the ground??

Sorry because you are probably older and supported longer does that mean ur a better supporter and love the club more?

Not at all. You were the first to put in a year of supporting with your group. My group, having experienced the good, the bad and the ugly, seem to have had enough.

Its rather sad really.

I felt most sorry for the people who had to pick up the protest leaflets left on the floor of which there were many. No respect for the volunteer staff

Quite astonished at this one really. Another swipe at our supporters??

Couldnt people have just binned them, or politely declined the leaflet if they didnt agree??

People involved in the protest have volunteered over the years, myself included. Seems like an own goal by yourself having no respect for legitimate protest at an awful time in our proud history.

"it was well applauded and supported by a sizeable number" this was tweeted to a journalist.

This is not a true reflection of what happened but is what you tweeted.

Your job is to report what happened not put ur own "sexed up" version.

One person clapped in the main stand while there was an audible chorus of cheerio.

More Stalybridge fans clapped the 24 who walked out than alty fans.

This is just a side show to hide the fact that the protest was a resounding embarrassing failure

This is a quote from the Non-League Daily, who were in attendance:
"A reception of applause from some sections of supporters could be heard around the ground, with a number of Celtic supporters joining in".

Sort of more than just one in the main stand clapping then.

18 years, is that it?? Ive been going for 27 years. Most of who I know are in support of the need for change.

We are all entitled to opinions, yet, there have been huge failings made on this Chairman's watch. The continued failure to communicate with supporters is high up there.

Its time for a fresh face to be brought in and repair the damage done. Otherwise, we'll end up like Northwich Victoria.

Agree with Caspar.........Defeatist attitude at best, maybe just pack in and play park football or accept a club with a 1000 person fanbase cannot compete with Curzon Ashton or Buxton, let alone Accrington, Morecambe and Southport.
Bizarre comparison of earned vs achieved.......a load of horse$hit really

I don't recall 14th in Conf North ? :-

5th and promoted
8th
4th
3rd and promoted

14th in the Unibond Premier (pre Conference north) in 2002/3

The text dates were informative and stuck to the action on the pitch with a mention of the protest group leaving. The tweets on the other hand did report the facts but mostly with regard to what was going on off the pitch. There were many attempts on the Stalybridge goal during the first half. By half time their end of the ground was churned up which is a good indicator of where the action was but you'd not guess that from the tweets.

What turned out to be the parting shot "Quiet atmosphere, quiet game" I'd disagree with on both counts. People who stayed behind albeit not singing songs but there was a lot of encouragement and clapping by people who probably don't normally. Both teams tried hard to win. Early on we were stimied by a referee who refused to see the holding and shirt tugging but in the second half both teams had plenty of chances and really wanted a result.

So for me it was a case of damage limitation.

We'll have to wait and see if Bill wants to shed any more light on the situation.

There were 17 tweets of which 1 was regarding the protest movement "According to our website, a protest movement leaves the ground". A very neutral tweet.
Compared to the matchday update of "15: A number of Alty fans (about two dozen it seems) leave terrace in protest at chairman". Which one in your view is more neutral??

4 out of the 17 were about atmosphere, of which 3 also included updates about the match.

so mostly, 15 out of 17 tweets were about the match.

As there was no damage to limit, it all seems very bizarre.

The article is now on the main website.

I find the piece hard to understand and read. It makes far too many generalisations and does not account for the time we eventually adjusted into the Conference National. Whatever league you play in, you have earned that right to be there.

I also think the attempted comparison of Manchester City and Stockport is bizzare and unwise. City were nationally considered to be underachieving and ended up playing in the same division as Macclesfield Town, before being taken over and having millions pumped into them. Stockport County, who have been nationally reported as being financially mis-managed and are very much underperforming giving their respective resources.

The article seems to be going against the strategic review, which states a realistic ambition to be at least a national league club within the next five years. So, why are we accepting that relegation to the lowest ever position is acceptable?

Its shocking enough that bad board decisions cost relegation from the National Premier and yet more atrocious decisions have cost us relegation to the lowest point ever in our proud history.
I don't see any relevance in our fluctuating league position. In all the years we have been in the National North, the worst, until now, was 14th.

A very poor piece that only seems to be setting the scene for next season.

Just seems to sum up lack of ambition and poor mentalities currently at the club.

Now I've read the tweets I'm not surprised access was pulled. Whoever was tweeting was clearly tweeting with an anti establishment agenda and intent on using an official communication channel to support the protest and its agenda.

If you'd been on stage the hook would have been coming out to yank you off.

If this was a business (which it is) you'd be looking at a disciplinary. You can't operate in an official or semi official capacity and diss the product.

Which tweets are you referring to??

The only ones I have seen are factual. In reference to the protest movement, there was one tweet reporting the inclusion of the protest movement leaving the ground on the website. This was tweeted 5 minutes after the event and inclusion on the matchday update page. As above, it was also covered on Radio Robins.

I do find it extremely hard, actually implausible, to come anywhere near to concluding "Whoever was tweeting was clearly tweeting with an anti establishment agenda".

Many people would like to know why the service was pulled from some clearly avid Altrincham supporters.

Instead of trying to build bridges, this just seems to be further alienating supporters.

We know that our Chairman has read and posted on here in the past. But yet, there is no comment from the club.

What could be worse getting relegated into the glue league?

It is a crying shame that Altrincham faces its toughest part of history. Many would agree that a lot of this could have been avoided if better key decisions were made.

Currently, we have a Chairman who has alienated large parts of the loyal fanbase. I do support the walkout, but unfortunately, I am unable to attend the game due to prior commitments.

To move forward, we need a change at the top who will be able to bring all supporters back together and get us promoted at the first time of asking.
