Correct Jimmy.

Ecky, I think you've just disrupted some Saturday night tv viewing somewhere...

Tuesday, 20th February 1990.

The attendance was 3,390.

I think that the penalty is awarded for an alleged handball by Nicky Daws.

Also spotted: Jeff Wealands in goal; Andy Reid (2); Paul Rowlands (4); Martin Baker (5) and John McMahon (7).

Cheers lads, it looks very full.  I thought I recognised Paul Rowlands chasing the ref after the penalty.

I always thought that team was to good to only avoid the drop by a few points and the career ending injury to Martin baker was a crying shame a quality centre half he scored goals from set pieces

Largely the basis of the 90/91 side. Wouldve been interesting to see us with Martin Baker in defence all that season. May have made the difference in the period before we signed Tommy Miller (am aware the first 4 games were clean sheets but point still stands)

You could well be correct, Ballers, however, I would contend that things would have been even better had we managed to re-sign Gary Anderson in the 1990/91 pre-season rather than in October of 1990.

Gary Simpson was a decent footballer but he just did not fit in with the way we played back then.

Very good point cult because we didn't start that following season that amazingly also agree with the point ballers made

We've talked before about how much we clicked when Gary Anderson re-signed me and Jimmy (and others). To be honest I took that as a given. I was thinking more perhaps about Martin Baker in the context of this thread and the fact there was only a couple of points in it.

In that respect simply having Martin Baker available for set piece corners all season may have garnered the extra 6 points required.

I also think this was back in the days where physiotherapy was way behind what it is now. Hence some players like Baker, Martin Lewis and at the top level Paul Lake had their careers finished. Put it this way if Buzz had been 27 in 1990 and suffered his injury he wouldn't have played again.

I thought this too.....and I'd be worrying about Mike Williams if right now were, in fact, back then.

I knew the mere mention of the great Gary Anderson would attract you to the thread BVV! Your worship of him, quite rightly, knows no bounds.
