The Most One Sided Match For Years?
« on: January 21, 2009, 08:12:04 AM »

Really enjoyed last night, if only for the fact we saw 115 Alty attacks.

One of the most one sided games I have seen for a long tiome, unless someone knows another one?

EDIT - Just seen this on the Wittin Forum...."

"The result was bad, but the performance was encouraging. The game was a lot closer than the score line suggested"

No it wasn't..really it wasn't.

Witton were lucky to get away with a four-nil score line.

They are struggling the in Unibond Prem but I didn’t think they were going to be that poor.  In the second half you could hear the Witton players telling their manager that we can’t get the ball off Alty, its never ending this!

I think, as has been said on another thread, that could have been us if we hadn't managed to get into the Conference North.

It gives you a fair idea as where we've come on the playing front in a relatively few years and we should all be eternally grateful for the team which did it for us.

Also, for any Witton fans, I hope you pull yourselves clear of relegation and prosper in the future (but you won't do that if you get sucked in to your neighbour's debacle and allow them to buy Witton shares as has been suggested on other forums.)

I was talking to an ex Witton official last night who said that the difference he'd noticed straight away was how much bigger we were as a side than them...even our small players were big if that makes sense. He nearly had a seizure when Dale warmed up.

I assume he was meaning that we were stronger, more muscular rather than taller

If we're "big" then what would he make of Histon, R&D etc?

his royal fezness made the comment to Chris Senior that his goal was "taking the p*ss" which brought the trademark grin from seniors face,
in truth i never felt at any moment that we were in danger of not winning the match (i even went to get a bovril whilst we were playing because i felt so relaxed and sure of our dominance - and unlike Jimi i didn't miss a goal  ;D).

btw can mr densmore please take all our free kicks from now on? best moment of the game was that free kick - with Meech screaming for the quick pass only to turn to the crowd as the ball hit the back of the net and say "what can you do?" as he shrugged his shoulders.

it was great to see Scotty back aswell. A great servant to the club and such a genuinly nice bloke, always one of the first players to come and talk to the fans in the bar after a game (which he did last night aswell) glad he's found himself first team football.
