Would having Rochdale and hartlepool or Harrogate come down, be better than more southern clubs from League 2? Likewise CHester and CHorley from CN.

40 + years too late....I wanna see Rochdale relegated. I'm still bitter !!!

Wise words.

Rochdale have been in my grudge bank since June 1980.

Rochdale have been in the League for 101 years, and before the days of relegation they were forced to apply for re-election on no less than TEN occasions. They're perennial survivors, and I think they'll manage to survive yet again. Mind you, if they do drop they can look forward to renewing derby day rivalry with poor old Oldham Athletic.

I might add that they got average league attendances of lower than 2,119 (our NL average last season) in 15 out of 17 seasons from 1973 to 1990, including one in the third division (when they got a gate of just 450). I suspect that if they ever had got voted out, they would at best have ended up like Southport.

I always assume they will survive one way or the other. Still, they're almost bound to go down sooner or later, and that result at Victoria Park did look grim. For myself I will always be glad of any extra local games, even Fylde.
