"David Livermore believes consolidation is key for Histon in Blue Square Bet North next season. After surviving the drop on the final day of the campaign, the Stutes' player-manager felt a mid-table finish could be viewed as progress in 2012/13. He said: 'As a club, we have to put talk of promotion and getting into the Football League to one side because I don’t think that’s something we’re going to achieve at the present time because of the budget and the attendances we get"

Imagine the desolation around the village as the supporters hear that the football league promotion project may have to be put on hold.

As a club they should simply be talking about clinging to life in this "tinpot" league.
