Now known as Enfield 1893 this once great non league club are playing in the Essex senior league. Their average attendance this season was just 93 and the website looks like it was made by a schoolboy. For anyone too young to remember the golden era Altrincham had in the late 70's and early 80's Enfield were the only non league team who could seriously threaten the dominance Altrincham had.

Of the original 20, the following are higher up the pyramid than we are :
Yeovil Town (third tier)
Barnet (fourth tier)
Gravesend & Northfleet (now Ebbsfleet United) (fifth tier)
Although Barrow and Telford are also in the fifth tier, both clubs have re-formed since the original APL was formed.

Sorry - slight misunderstanding by yours truly. Barrow went into administration, and were relegated from the Conference. They then played in the NPL coming in when the season had already been going for some weeks, and remained in administration for around 3-4 years.
They are, however, essentially the same club as they always were.
All this was caused by the execrable Stephen Vaughan.

They've been in a bit of pickle for a few years now. I remember vaguely reading about a fixture between the two versions of Enfield in The Guardian. Sad old tale to see them in such a state.

I had lunch on the Southbury Road site on Easter Monday. Munching on their grave, I have also seen them play at Goldsdown Road their cuckoo nest at Brimsdown Rovers. Can't even remember which Enfield it was, ad many a debate about them in the local pubs and it is a confusing mystery to most folk.
