I'm not disputing that he's one of GH's biggest supporters, but how are the other players around him? Does he come across as doing what he wants in games and not necessarily playing to the tactics that the team are set?

Was he (as one of the longest serving players currently at the club) a reason behind Dalton going or was it a collective team effort to oust him?

I thought it didn't look right when I typed it! Never mind, at least it cheered you all up for at little while after the last 2 games!!

With 5 new players, this is most encouraging.... however, 5 players who have never played together before??? Disjointed is the 1st word that springs to mind....... that said we couldn't look any worse than we have done in the past 3 - 4 games, the last 2 in particular

Agreed, not clinical enough, to many flicks and when things go wrong to apologetic!! Seems to be going through the motions to me.

Don't get me wrong he was a good player and has always tried his best for Alty, unfortunately that isn't good enough anymore. It's time for someone new.

Is he to much of a disruption in the dressing room also?

I'd like to see permanent players come in (if only on non-contract terms) rather than loan signings... hopefully one of the 3 "future" signings will fit the bill.

Do I take it that as one of the loanees is a Central Defender that Ryan Shotton will not now return? or is GH just trying to get a bit of cover for Tinson and Munroe?

I think Whalley has undoubted class, but he need to take his head out of his backside and realise that he's not playing league football anymore, that you don't get time on the ball at this level and that you will get a kick. The sooner he realises this, understands that he can be the biggest player at this club (on previous career to date) then maybe he'll get himself up for it,and stop trying to be a pre-madonna..

I do also agree with Ballers that a combative midfielder maybe a better option for Alty, someone to break up play and carry us forward thereby negating the long ball tactics we have employed all season!

Well done Diane - Another 9million points this week, I could only play Mon and got just over a million, but had other commitments over the last couple of days.

Where have the rest of the players gone? If we could get every one playing in the same week, we'd have a decent chance of the Champions league!

Baguley did look good, but as Sedgemore and Whalley were already on board, I think GH thought he was probably too similar a player to keep him.

I know Aaron Burns went to FCUM, is there any possibility of him coming in?

Other potential strikers (All from Conf North and prob all on Contracts)......... But,

Hyde - Seddon, Simm (midfield or Striker) or Tipton - All scored a fair few this season, but suspect that given Hyde's aspirations and current league position - these players may be on a fairly high wage

Harrogate - Danny Holland - 16 goals in 23 games

Stalybridge - Chris Hall (left Oldham in summer to quit football, but came back and has 10 in 22 games) - prob too much baggage and not prolific enough.

Was going to look at Southport and Kettering, but suspect that all their players are contracted

We really need a holding midfielder as well - Any thoughts anyone?

Lets face it our hands are tied until January, but when you play 2 (or more)  players out of position what can we expect? - Scott and O'neil case in point. Add to that the fact that we at least tried something different in our "new" formation (Which didn't work) we were always going to be on a hiding to nothing. Surely it's about standing up and being counted which yesterday was not evidenced by many of the Alty players.

Defensively despite having Shotton and Tinson (who are solid) we still conceded 3 again - Add to this the second worse defence in the league and that's where we have to replace in the transfer window. A left back is a must as many have said, but Shotton has now gone (hopefully to return for the rest of the season), so who will replace him? Munroe? maybe so, but if he or Tinson gets injured then we're up the creek without a paddle.

We also need a true defensive midfielder, not scott, not val (too injury prone despite being a true servant to the club), but someone who will break play up and drive us forward.

I agree with most that Logan needs a good run out, but if the Manager doesn't have the confidence in him, then what can anyone do? I was at the game yesterday - as i have been for the majority of home game, I actually called the subs as they happened. Not because I was being a smart arse, but more so because it happens week in week out and if I know that, the surely these full-time teams who scout opposition know this.

I truely believe that we will get out of the bottom 4 this season, only because Farsley are not as good a team, but if we're not clinical in front of goal, we're not confident enough and at present are tactically inept.

I like most on this forum are passionate about Alty and will as ever continue to support them, but for gods sake the team and the management need to stand up and be counted.

Rant over!!

I got us about £1.2 million last night, but unfortunately won't be able to contribute further this week, due to work commitments.

Third round will be completed 3rd/4th December.

Not sure if it then goes into one big pot or North & South, but all BSP enter at 4th round and ties are played on 22.12.07

These are the remaining Conf North and South teams in the 3rd round... Don't care who we get, I'd rather have league safety than another Mickey Mouse cup run (Like the CSC)

Northern Section
Kettering vs Hinckley
Nuneaton v Telford
Southport v Barrow
Tampaxworth v Harrogate

Southern Section
St Albans v Thurrock (now 15.12.07)
Eastbourne v Lewes (top of table clash!)
Bromley v Welling
Hampton & Richmond v Newport County.

PS - Well done Diane for your continued efforts of late

Altrincham FC First Team / Next 6 league games to year end
« on: November 19, 2007, 01:52:24 PM »
So based on current form we wouldn't be in the bottom 4 (as per earlier thread). How does everyone think we'll perform over the next 6 league games. My predictions are

Farsley (A) - Win
Stevenage (A) - Lose
Histon (H) - Draw
Torquay (A) - Lose
Vics (H) - Win
Stevenage (H) - Win (optimism!)

So I think 10 points from 6 games.... Realistic?

Who does this guy think he is? Was he watching the same game on Saturday? Weymouth were/are probably the worst team I have seen in this league to date!

It's not as if they had any world beaters! I can't actually remember any real saves that Stu had to make on Saturday.. so how does he think his "great" team should have put 5 or 6 past us?!

It's that sort of attitude that'll cascade down to his players and they'll end up in a right load of sh*t come the end of the season!
