It was bloody windy.

A guy working on a building at the University was blown through a window, several (I think 4) people in the North West were killed as a result of the weather, it took me 1 hr 40 minutes to do a 25 minute journey from Manchester to Sale and then when I got home it had blown half a door and about a quarter of the roof off my garage. I went out to get stuff to repair it and a 5 minute drive from Timperley to Sale took me 35 minutes - deep, deep unhappiness prevails :'( :'( :'(

Indeed that is the case,

Burton Albion use Derby County Stewards, hence the possible proliferation of Friday and Sunday fixtures in the Burton Albion Calendar

I don't see anybody poo pooing this idea, in fact far from it.

What I  do see is the Assistant Chief Steward asking what seems a very valid question so here are some more that I am asking myself before contacting the Club over this idea.

Does the current License allow the sale of Alcohol outside the Noel White Suite and more particularly outside the ground which would be the case if the marquee in the car park model was followed?

Would the licensees be happy with this proposal ?- I don't see anyone having taken their views into account

What would the views of the Local Authority, GMP and the local residents be to this proposal?

Would your 'volunteers' be the ones who had to try to control the away spectators who wanted to go walkabout with their drinks, take them into the gound etc. or would that task fall to the regular stewards (oops yes they're volunteers too!!)

Would your self same volunteers be prepared to miss what could be a substantial proportion of the match to undertake these duties.

I'm not poo pooing the idea as you so poetically phrase it but please try to remember that there is a hell of a lot or organisation required to deal with crowds such as those we anticipate from York and Oxford PLUS the additional complications caused by the potential reverberations from the Oxford away fixture.

We all want what's best for the Club but sometimes 'less is more' if you get my drift

Regards

Phil

Is Bernard poorly?

Could someone re-post please

Obviously all  the best to Bernard for a swift recovery from whatever ails him

The Cheshire County FA Website still has it as January 16th which helps - not at all

I know that you're taking a chance believing anything in the MEN but todays paper says that the CSC match v Witton will take place on January 23rd unless they haven't concluded their FA Trophy tie v Eastbourne >:( >:( >:(

I too have heard 1 - 0 from someone at the match

I spoke to Stuart in the bar after the game he said that he started to come for it, saw the striker moving toward it, considered that Bandy was in the better position and shouted AWAY very loudly. He expected Bandy to put it in the Chip Shop so when he didn't and the R&D guy got it he (Stuart) was stuffed.

On reflection though the goal stemmed from Karl Munroe trying to chest it down rather than just clear it don't you think? (this isn't a pop at Karl in any way just an observation - Whack it into the allotments Rushden can't score - try to chest it down, invite pressure)

Yeah Gary,

If you have an address to send something I'd be grateful too. In any case please pass on my best wishes for a swift recovery

Cheers

Baldrick,

Why don't you come and have a chat with either Darren or I at a home match about this.

I think I can see what you're trying to say but have to conclude that you are (a) missing the point somewhat and (b) being quite disrespectful to the Stewarding Staff.

Re your assertion that we /they couldn't cope with 'real trouble' yes if you're talking about bother on the Millwall, Birmingham City, Leeds etc level then given our current manning levels we probably couldn't......however if we were to get a match where it was obvious that the potential for bother was there then we would do exactly what we have always done that is get advice and assistance in.

Fortunately we haven't had large amounts of fuss at Moss Lane recently but I would have to advise you that whatever situations have occurred we have in the huge majority of cases been commended on our response either in dealing with the situation ourselves or in containing things until the arrival of the Constabulary. Our handling of the FCUM pre season situation for example was generally considered by the Police Officers who interviewed me after the event  to be more than adequate.

So I'll repeat the invitation to come and have a chat. - your comments are of course very valid and we always welcome constructive comments but I think that maybe your point is not really in relation to what I believe Darren was trying to get at in his original posting.

Cheers

Phil

We i.e the Stewarding staff have attempted on any number of occasions to deal with the issue of swearing only to be told, in really quite florid terms that the perpetrators  will be more inclined toward moderating their language when the players and bench stop swearing.

Any suggestions?

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: will mr peake be in attendance tommorrow?
« on: December 31, 2006, 01:47:21 PM »
Seemingly there is/was a flu bug going around FGR which Mr Peake had succumbed to and therefore did not travel. He was apparently not alone as a fair number of off field staff and non playing players had also been told by Mr Harvey not to travel for fear of further infecting the squad

There is actually nothing wrong with his nose, it was apparently just an accidental collision with no violent or sinister intent and has been accepted as such by the Club,

Bandy had a sore shoulder, not dislocated and seemingly may be available for Halifax if required

Sice the need for intent was removed from all penal offences except handball within Law 12 the very fact that the player, albeit inadvertantly; kicked Joe made it an offence. It being in the penalty area made it a Penalty.

The challenge however obviously was  not considered to be 'reckless' in the opinion of the Referee and as this is a necessity when cautioning for challenges no caution was issued.

With regard to the perceived lack of a caution for kicking the ball away a caution is only appropriate if the action of kicking the ball away is a) an act of dissent or b) an attempt to delay the restart of the game. Unfortunately Asa kicking the ball away delayed the taking of a free kick and hence by definition the restart of the game.

I hope that this helps clear up any confusion over this issue

 :) :)

Yep!

Certainly is.

We went on the first night it opened and watched The Prestige - quite a bizarre film with Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale and Michael Caine being, well - Michael Caine but in Edwardian costume.

I think there are six screens, don't know how many seats to each one but the one we went to was 'cosy' to say the least
