Don't have a problem actually and I do have a life.

Nor do I think that I'm trying to make anyone look like anything let alone an arsehole.

I also said it as I saw it. You described it on the Aldershot Forum as an appalling challenge not a poor one. You also intimated that you thought Scotty should have been sent off. I described what I saw possibly from a bit nearer than you in an attempt to put things into some sort of context for those a good way away who may not have seen it so clearly or didn't know exactly what took place .

This is a forum for people to express their views as I am frequently told, so I did so. Don't like it - tough, as I am also frequently told.

Can I ask incidentally why you didn't post on THIS forum that you thought it was 'appalling'?

If you feel that I have misrepresented you then I apologise unreservedly. I didn't know you were that sensitive

Posting from the Aldershot Forum

I hope your player who broke his leg suffers no lasting damage. To be honest I thought it was an appalling challenge by our player and he was lucky not to be sent off. I understand he's only a youngster who'd just signed a new contract and I hope he makes a swift recovery

As someone who was no more that about 5 yards from it I have to take issue with the above statement. There was no intent to 'do' the player and the picture that can be seen makes the challenge look worse than it was. I've been involved with Football for a long time, watching Alty for best part of 40 years (yes I started young) and refereeing for 14, I know a malicious challenge when I see one and that on Saturday wasn't.

Not trying to cover anything up because that would make me and Alty fans in general look stupid but it is possible for an accidental collision to cause the sort of damage that the poor Aldershot Player sustained.

Scotty isn't the sort of guy to deliberately try to hurt someone and in my view (shared incidentally by the Referee and the Aldershot Manager) he didn't on this occasion either.

I too hope the lad makes a quick recovery and suffers no long term damage

Stuart had a back spasm when he bent down for the ball.

These can be really painful I believe, sometimes they just 'release' themselves and at other times further medical intervention is required.

Never had one but someone i know said it's like the worst ever cramp in your back and you just can't move

Being fair, you're saying that we are all allowed to express an opinion but then you criticise somebody (in this case AltySi) for expressing his?

To be honest, isn't somebody as entitled to criticise VoD's view as VoD is to hold it?  Why shouldn't someone criticise what VoD wrote (and VoD is entitled to write it BTW)?    There's no "party line" in my book, no "thought police" (as is sometimes quoted on this forum) b*llocks either.

If it isn't libellous or in bad taste, I see no harm with what is written on here.  If somebody is criticised there usually is a reason for it.  If AltySi doesn't like what VoD wrote then let him say so, and then VoD has the chance to reply, and so on and so on.

This is going nowhere. Come on Alty!

As AltySi quite correctly says and should be commended for it the most important thing is that we win tomorrow and that the support is excellent.

I wasn't criticising AltySi per se, just what seems to be (to some of my work colleagues who have read the forum over my shoulder during  the past few days)  a belief that if we all shout nice and loud then we'll win and that if anyone does, says or posts anything less that 1000% supportive we're stuffed.

Sorry, been here too many times over that past thirty odd years not to recognise the neccessity for a spoonful of realism , must be getting old and cranky

Alty Si,

I'm sorry to repeat this post from a previous thread and I know that this will get me Peaked to death but can I ask for a bit of a reality check here please?

Actually no, I'm not sorry at all. It's about time the blinkers came off and people woke up and smelt the coffee. We are in the $h!te end of and I think that telling people how they should conduct themselves and what to think is disrespectful at least and quite possibly offensive.

You are an adult, so am I and so is VoD. We are all entirely capable of independent thought and live in a democracy. Last time I checked that meant that we were allowed to express an opinion.

Nobody, so far as I can see has told you that you have to do or think anything tomorrow so please extend the same courtesy to others.

Somebody holding a different opinion to you is not necessarily wrong.

We are in a position which no amount of burying of heads in the sand will alter.

Nobody so far as I can see has posted to say that they want us to go down in fact the majority of posts are the precise opposite.

If any player is upset by some of the 'negativity' posted on here then they really shouldn't be playing at this level and if the Club is 'destabilised' then it doesn't belong at the top of Non-League Football. Despite many of us bleeding red and white stripy blood and seeing the world through lenses of the same design Altrincham is not perfect nor faultless and it is unrealistic to pretend that it is and, although highly laudible as a concept, it would be a grave error to subdue opinion just because it wasn't positive.

People care deeply about Alty, that's why they poke their heads above the parapet to be shot at by posting on here.

If we don't get the end result we want (staying up) then there will need to be changes made and it is a sign of how healthy the club is that this can be discussed on here without dissenting posts being deleted because they don't toe the party line.

The world is a hard place and Football gets more stressful and unpleasant for the general supporter the higher you get purely because there is more to lose.

Let's please continue to discuss these issues  honestly with positive and negative viewpoints being expressed without fear of ridicule or repercussion.
There's no right, no wrong,

If an errant father doesn't voluntarily make payments to the mother of his Children  the CSA can get an "attachment of earnings" order requiring sums to be deducted from the fathers salary by his employer and paid over to the CSA for onward transmission to the mother.

I would assume that this is what this refers to

Again setting myself up for a huge Peakeing here but we are talking about the Conference National here, not the Trumpton Sunday League.

Every player in every team whether they be champions, in the playoffs, relegated, mid table with nowt to play for or whatever will I feel sure be putting in their all on Saturday.

These players are playing at the top level outside the Coca Cola League and, even if part time have a huge degree of professionalism and professional pride.

Do you honestly think that if we were safe with nowt to play for then our lads would just go through the motions on Saturday - no, me either and I'd be very offended if anybody suggested that was going to be the case. Why then should any other player from any other club not give their all?

No we have, as a team, to give of our best as I'm sure we always do. If it isn't good enough then we get relegated if it is and things go for us then we stay up. Someone has to go down and to be honest we aren't in the bottom four because we're particularly marvellous are we?

Let's not disrespect other teams players please but hope that we can survive

I think that would be an excellent appointment maybe as Player Manager?

2516
I would hope that whatever the result anyone who was contemplating going onto the field of play after the final whistle would wait until the Aldershot players and match officials were safely in their respective dressing rooms even though, as Darren has said, it is strictly speaking an arrestable offence.

Problem seems 2 fold to me

Firstly because of England and or Utd being away when they are he never does a proper pre season with us so he's always playing catch up on the fitness side. Not his fault, no blame or opprobrium - it's his job so he has to do it.

Secondly, when he came and was successful he had that initial burst of pace. Since his serious knee problem he hasn't got that so much anymore. Again not his fault just a consequence of injury

Don't want to put a downer on the whole shooting match but as the majority of the players are non contract it really isn't in the Clubs hands who stays or goes.

Each player will be free to decide their own future based on their own preferences and whatever deal they can get from wherever they can get it.

Sadly Droylsden is close enough that if Lord forfend we didn't stay up, then they will need Conference standard players and would be in a position to pay more than us. TBH even if we do stay up they'll still be able to offer more in terms of money in all probability.
