Title: Boreham Wood Match Thread
Post by: robininstockport on March 14, 2024, 08:43:18 AM
Arial bombardment in coming.

             Ross

       Cooper  Roscoe   Baines

Banks    Wilson    Osbourne    Jones

          Newby        Amaluzor

              Con-Clarke

Basically going for Roscoes' height over Kosylos' engery.

BW-1-1 Alty (Newby)

Why change a winning lineup, I would go with same starting 11 as Tuesday night if all fit and get at them.

Agreed!

I'd be very surprised if we don't make a change or two to combat their set-piece strength. Defending free kicks and corners with a front four of Newby, Kosylo, Amaluzor and CCC would be very difficult.

I've decided to give up on providing my own thoughts seeing as I:

(a) thought a Tuesday postponement might be good for the lads; and
(b) would have dropped Alex Newby due to his more recent flat form

I do see the merits of both systems - regardless of which we pick, I think Matty Kosylo needs to be dropped down to the bench again now, we can't have him picking up bookings every first half. So expect him to feature in the National League's team of the week come Sunday afternoon...

Whether that means Dan Mooney having a go from the start in a 4231, or Roscoe coming into the back line and having Alex/Justin running off CCC, I've no thoughts either way.

I hope it’s not a back 3. Roscoe has come on in the last 2 home games for us to go to a back 3 and we’ve conceded.

Pace, movement and being positive beats hoof ball Boring Wood

I've heard people say league tables are a good guide to predicting results in which case the home side should be worrying and the away side preparing to succeed.
If only it was that simple. It's Boreham Wood away.

I think we should get at them. Borehamwood will no doubt be expecting to carry on from where they left off.

Hopefully spear headed by Justin's pace we'll have other ideas.

Is anyone close to a yellow card suspension at the moment? It seems like quite a few have been handed out recently.

Won't be there at the weekend (missed York too) as we're in Cyprus for the baptism of our first great grandson! 😉
Hoping to be still celebrating tomorrow evening too!
Come on you Supers, win it for the baby! 👍👶🇦🇹🤞

He’s back from his loan at Chorley

Looks like we are going to have a go. Thought they might have switched things up and played 3 at the back. Good to see JD back and hopefully we benefit as he’s had some game time with Chorley.

Having Justin back is like having a new player. Like a few others on here, I really rate him and I think he can make a massive contribution in getting us into the playoffs.

Entertaining game.
Ross was immense. Got us another 3 points.
Donawa came in and was excellent. Even though Banks has stepped up, I really think Donawa can be our RB. So good at getting up the pitch.
Well done boys, keep going and we now have Linney back.

Great result boys and so important, and full respect to the loyal fans who made the trip , three wins from four have steadied the ship and with the new signings helping to add more energy and impetus to the squad we enter the last four weeks of the season with renewed optimism.  These last seven (+) games could make this the most historic moment in our wonderful clubs history .Hope springs eternal ! So let's all turn up in numbers and shout ourselves hoarse these last few games . We can still do this . Come on you Alty boys .

I was wondering if the commentator was taking the piss with  his commentary Kossy was Kos sigh lo… Donawa was Do nar wa and Amaluzor was ama Zulu.

Can’t beat a Southern accent eh?

Agreed, I think we'd have been fuming if it had been the other way - but we'll take it, and we made the most of it too - had plenty go against us this season too.

Good game, Ethan superb at the beginning and throughout the game. Baines was immense. Wilson looked good. Grew into game and created plenty of chances. CCC took goal well. Good to see extended highlights, thanks Alty TV.

Great playing surface, wish ours was that good.

On the red card, I thought it was red, dangerous uncontrolled challenge, can't do that these days. Some get given, some don't as others included Parky have said. Went in our favour for a change.

Really good to see Wilson and Osborne taking shots from distance.  Both are great strikers of the ball and it's something we have not done enough of from midfield
