Coming through thick and fast now... any that have caught the eye?
In terms of adding experience to the middle of the park, I know one or two have mentioned Ryan Croasdale from Stockport - but if wage bills on Google are to be believed, he's on £1.7k and still only 28 so I doubt he'd be looking to take a 'step down' just yet.
Looking at Wrexham's - again, no idea how accurate - Luke Young would perform a very similar job (both have worn the armband for their respective clubs), lower wage and he's 31 now - our project could work for him?
Looking in the other direction, Matty Williams was offered a contract by Chester in February and hasn't signed it - still only 23 and one of the best at that level :)

My County supporting work colleague reckons Croadale would be a good fit for Alty.He also thinks if CCC signs for them he wont get in front of Sarcevic or Nick Powell for a while.

I agree on Croasdale but we'll just have to see what the budget allows - someone of the ilk of Croasdale / Young would be fantastic if we can do it.
Obviously I'm desperate for him to stay, but I do think Stockport would probably be one of the better moves for CCC than most - but he might have to wait for one or both of those two to move aside, as you say.

Maybe we could sell him, but take him back on a season-long loan?
-
Croasdale would be a perfect fit for both parties but not a cat in hell's chance we would meet his wages.
Should Solihull win the play off final, Mark Beck would probably be available and I think he would be an excellent fit.
Matty Williams from Chester is an interesting one, as is Liam Edwards.
Obviously, we don't want CCC to leave but a very realistic scenario would see the return of Coco in part exchange.

I think Stockport will be in for a shock in L1 so I wouldn't bet on it.

Striker Rob Harker released by Halifax .Big forward
-
Do we ever release one of these lists?
I think we probably do one for various reasons but don't publicise it. 🤔
Also, really hoping that there's not going to be a lot of 'teasing' and drawing out who's signing on this year!
-
They are dammed if they do and dammed if they don't. They release the details as they happen and are accused of teasing. Or wait until the last player signs before releasing the player's list. They are then accused of drawing it out. Take your choice

My choice would be the former without the "big news at 1pm tomorrow" scenario

Me too. We must stop agreeing. We will have people talking. Lol

Cheeky! 😉

I think we released last season's around 10th May, I suppose it's a management choice from club to club and often involves players being given ultimatums on signing contracts or being released - although some clubs take the route of telling the public who they've offered.
Hopefully we're not waiting on anyone to sign a contract.
Matty Williams from Chester would be a huge one for me - a Lewis Baines style signing in terms of taking the best from the division below.
Lots of very strong right backs from this league are available this summer - Tylor Golden from Halifax, James Clarke from Solihull (who is from the North West) and Connor Barrett from Fylde - although I think they'd have been more realistic if we'd have gone up and it's not a huge priority position unless someone is presented to us that we simply can't refuse.
I think Croasdale will stay in League Two as he's still only 28 (Salford?) or perhaps a bigger budget team in this league - I think Luke Young from Wrexham would perform a similar job yet be much more realistic.
-
Luke young is 31 now we need younger players who can be here if we manage to get promotion next year.

We need a combination of both.
-
Hopefully, we are trying very very hard to secure the quite brilliant Matty Williams from Chester. Apart from that, I think we should be seeking to secure some older, more experienced heads to bolster our squad which is youthful enough.

Do we need another CB? we've got 3 starter quality and a very suitable bench option with Roscoe.
I think we're gonna see a larger squad this year, the new Mickey Mouse comp and 7 subs kind of dictates it.
I expect we'll see the retained list as soon as we've done speaking with the out of contract lads. I doubt we started on the process as early this year what with the whole Play Off excursion.
Either way, I want to see us send a 3/4 off in to the sunset and bring in 5/7 to bolster squad.
I've heard we're working to get further cash investment so obviously I'm expecting Prem in 5 years also.
-
What we DON'T want is loan players who aren't starting games. Sonny Aljofree? Did he ever so much as train with us?

That isn't a loan in the normal sense of the word. And if Utd have another Oyedele for us to borrow we'll take the odd Aljofree deal's in the mix. They are all free after all.
-
Croasdale and Paddy Madden both leaving County although I suspect both will stay in the EFL

Unfortunately you have to be brutal to keep pushing on - look at Stockport and Wrexham saying goodbye to recent club legends - if someone comes available that threatens to push an existing starter to the bench, that's exactly the way that things should work.
With regard to our centre backs, I suspect that at least one of them might be out of contract this summer - in which case they might end up needing to be replaced.
-
Cooper and Baines both signed contract extensions earlier this year.
-
I think he might be referring to either James Jones or Roscoe? (possibly the former?)

Yeah, to put it another way: we don't need another [insert position here] - yes that's true as things stand, but might not be the case in a week's time, we don't know.
And if we choose to release (or someone doesn't sign a deal) we should now be looking for a replacement that we feel confident will be starter quality... for promotion / League Two, not starter quality for what we were this time last year (or the year before).
Not just referring to the centre back situation here - the same is true of finding a midfielder that could threaten to bench Elliott or Isaac, or a winger that could bench Justin or Alex.
The 'starter quality' goalpost moves.
-
I would guess five or six out and six or seven in
-
Yes, I can see that number departing at least but I also feel, given we all recognise that we need a larger squad, there'll be more than that coming in.
As Marple has said elsewhere, new signings need to be capable of a first team spot rather than more squad players.

Yep. It's when we lose first choice names we look thin on options. Prime case being Ethan Ross.

I would release:-
Mooney
Roscoe
Angus
Hancox ( couldn’t fault his effort but I feel we need a top top CM )
Joey Jones
Assess :-
Kossy ( as a number 10? )
Would look to sign:-
Young and hungry striker, to push Regan
Another wide player ( possibly Sinclair )
Quality CM
Decent FB cover
Replacing CCC will be the biggest challenge. Could a fit Crankshaw play there…
-
Generally agree with you but a couple of quibbles.
I think Hancox can play LB and we've no other cover there.
Secondly, I'd go for a more experienced CF for Regan to work with and learn from.
Thirdly, it's a toss up between James Jones and Roscoe. We only need one of them.
Fourthly, not Sinclair thanks
-
Id keep Roscoe over James Jones, but yes Mooney and Angus to go
-
Predictions not far off now lists released! 😉 👍

I'm a believer that the King name is sacred here and he should come just because of that.
My concern is he's a demon going forward but is his defence as strong as we need it to be?

I think Jeff King has Oldham written all over it - and as you say, he's often referred to as a 'non league Trent Alexander-Arnold' due to his prowess going forward compared to his ability to actually defend properly.
I'd be surprised if any of those options I listed (Barrett, Clarke, Golden) don't get moves to the EFL.

One more right back... Sam Minihan has confirmed he is moving on from Buxton after winning their fan's player of the season award this past year.
30 years old, could still do a job at this level I reckon.
-
I think Parky would have to think a player would be a nailed on starter who improved the team considerably before signing a 30 year old.

Since when did 30 become ancient though?! We need to add the right experience and Minihan has won this league before...
-
Watching Bolton got me thinking who they might release upon the conclusion of the season, given that we took Sithole from their 'B' team not long ago.
Ben Andreucci could be a fantastic option as a backup striker, did really well on loan at Buxton recently and only 19 years old.
