Roy Ferguson - RIP

Sad news about Roy. he was a true Alty Fan a dedicated director and good friend to many of us through the 70s and 80s.

His "Cottage Garage" ad behind the goal on the Golf Road Stand certainly winessed some amazing games and many a strike on goal.
Roy worked tirelessly for AFC for a long time along with Noel White, Peter Jones, Neil Jones, Len Pollit and Gerry B in the pre Maunders era.
Most of all Roy was a fans director, always listening to folk on the terrace and an advocate of fans direct involvement. Roy in particular arranged for those of us running the Supporters Association at the time to attend board meetings so that we could exchange views etc.
It was a honour to have known him.
God bless you Roy.
May you rest in peace and rise in glory.

Nic and Elaine Seller

PS perhaps others may leave tributes here and then please will someone pass these on to the family. (That's hard for us being exiles in the footballing desert that is Nottingham.) - Brian Flynn, Ecky or Brads?

I would like to echo the comments of Nic & Elaine Seller.

I remember Roy Ferguson well at Moss Lane during the 1970s and 1980s and he was a true Alty supporter who progressed onto the Board of Directors, where he put in hours of work on behalf of the football club.

I played football alongside his son, Andrew, at Heyes Lane Junior School, Timperley in the dim and distant past and recall how devastated Roy was when his son was killed in a motorcycle accident over two decades ago.

My condolences to his family and friends.

I too would like to offer my sincere condolences to the family.

I knew Andrew from Altrincham Grammar - a very talented goalkeeper if I recall correctly.

As has been said elsewhere Roy was an Alty fan first and foremost and a big guy with a big heartl
