Altrincham FC First Team / Right wing for Sat
« on: February 07, 2008, 12:31:32 PM »
With Toulson out for Sat, maybe it will give Logan a chance which I doubt GH will do, or if Cahill is back then we could put Senior on the wing. We need to go at Droylsden, no sitting back !!! attacking football, but I reckon GH will start with O'Neil on the wing !!!

Altrincham FC First Team / Logan and back 4
« on: February 02, 2008, 08:43:32 AM »
For all those who slade Logan's committment. He has stayed around and I have been told by a friend that he attends training each week. Logan has not sulked or left to find another club even when he was dropped from the bench. He can not be compared to the likes of Bowler. He played very well when he came on and again showed again he can track back, he made the corner in which we scored from.

I think Peyton is a waste of time on the left of mid, apart from that goal against Kiddy he has not done or produced anything. Never hits the byline to deliver a dangerous cross and is very very slow. Still sure that he we played Carlos for several games in a row, instead of Peyton we'll be able to go at teams and get leads, instead of always chasing games. Also in my opinion ourbest back four is

LB Jennings - very good and also attacks down the left and can put a good ball in
RB Lane - consistant andgreat crosser
CB Shotton - pure class
CB Young -again seems class

Tinson is well passed his best, still good in the air buit gets murdered on the floor but I just know he will walk back in the team. I believe the above is our strongest back four. Hands up Joe did really well when he came on the other night but still missed a very good chance but held it up well. A couple of Logan breaks were quality and it helped to relieve the defence from pressure. Still think its stupid taking Senior off so early each game, when teams become tired we need Senior on as he is the only one who could get behind the defence, for example against Drolysden late on ,unless we start bringing logan on upfront which could work becausehe is strong and very quick.

Altrincham FC First Team / Final say about Logan
« on: January 04, 2008, 02:09:52 AM »
I heard someone say, who is really involved in the club state that logan could play a lot higher level if he could produce a final ball. A bloody fair comment in my very drunken state, but when that certain person said that, I stood there and thought when did O'Neil on the right wing and Peyton on the left set up a goal. I then sat down and thought for a while and I could not remember many chances never mind goals. Logan is talented, will give a 100% and I have so much faith that if he palyed at least 5 games in a row, which is not much nowadays, he will become a true Alty player. Unless I do not know something behind the seens, then surely Logan derserves a try, not one or two games, how about 5 or 6 than people can judge !!!!

One thing I would like to add is I do not believe Logan will keep us up but I am sure that he gives us a better chance. Before any game we should not be thinking no team is better than us and at home lets go at the f*ckers. I honestly still believe we can do this but we have to stop given teams too much respect and go for it.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Why is Logan not committed?
« on: January 03, 2008, 10:38:07 AM »
O'Neil - yeah still think he's rubbish, won't change my opinion just because he tapped a goal in. But hands up to him against Stevenage at home, he was just about average !!!

Altrincham FC First Team / Why is Logan not committed?
« on: January 02, 2008, 11:41:57 AM »
Can the one's who state that Logan is not committed please explain to me why he isn't ??? really don't know where you get this from ???

He turns up and sits on the bench when he is twice the player of Peyton, who for me has been poor for a lot of the season. When he comes on he always wants the ball even though no-one passes to him or helps him when he gets the ball. You never see him moaning at other players. When he played against Vics at home, he didn't light up the world but he did nothing wrong and tracked back well. He still played a lot better than half the team that day.

He should have least been on the nench yeaterday. Logan is a player who will always drag two players towards him. There has not been one team who have just gone for one man markig on him and when they went down to 8 players yesterday he would have been the best player to bring on.

When they went down to 8 players I must have lost about 5 years of my life, we played with a flat back 4 for a further 10 mins and lets face it we just about nicked it. The first sub we did was bring Scotty on a defender, talk about pulling my hair out. We should have taken off Peyton or Tinson for Pat. Logan has never been given the time to bed into the team. I remember saying Ian Craney was average and that Hawesy was a lot better centre mid but after about ten games in an alty shirt Craney turned into one of the best players I have seen at Moss Lane, same with Ellison. For me Logan has always given everything when he is on the pitch. He is not a Paul Robinson or Bowler who just jog around the pitch and don't look bothered. I think people need to wake up.

I would like to say that the first half yesterday was quality, great passing. Well done to the new lads. I still feel with Logan instead of the ineffective Peyton, who looks like he needs a rest, that we would have won that a lot easier. Anyway just happy with the three points. how good is Shotton, hero !!!!

Definately need a left footer against Dobson and Peyton the only one, plus Logan is quick enough to get back to help Peyton out !!! Can not play aspinal or scotty against Dobson either would be ripped apart !!!

Altrincham FC First Team / Todays team

With the players we have fit at the moment I would start with this line up :-

GK Coburn / Acton

RB Scotty
CB Lane
CB Tinson or Munroe
LB Peyton

LW Logan
RW Sedgemore ( not ideal but can swing in a good ball)
CM Lawton ( need his engine in midfield whilst Val is out )
CM Whalley ( will need his passing )

CF Little
CF O'Neill

Will struggle without Senior but I think the above team will be able to create chances.

Thoughts ???

I think Logan would be a danger up front, give it a go and I agree with the point that when he gets the ball no-one looks to help in!!! stick with him and he will shut a few people up. Stick him up front, we need the skill and pace !!!

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Would be gutted to see Heathcote go
« on: December 27, 2007, 07:28:58 PM »
Fair question. I have always loved Graham and we all know really we should be still in the BSN ( whatever league it is ) because it was a five year plan and this is a luxury but sometimes some of his tatics baffle me. But I want Graham to be the manager of Alty and to do well more than most so I come on here ranting and raving because to be honest it does make me feel better and I suppose thats what forums are all about but I would be gutted if he went. I would just like him to maybe look at some posts and give players like Logan a good run out, takes a player 5-6 games in a row to start performing doesn't matter how good he is. I think Graham started with Scotty and Aspinal because they are old school and thought that they would understand more about the passion of a derby than maybe Whalley and Sedge but I feel it was a wrong selection and I am gutted it didn't work. This season some team selections have been shocking but I want him to suceed and I think if you ignore the football side I think we would be playing in a purposly built sh*tty stadium like Vauxhall Motors some where  near the trafford Centre, with no tradition and atmosphere if we did not have heathcote and Geoff. A new manager would need money to buy players and my worry is getting in a financial mess again. Next few games without Senior are going to be even tougher because we will have no pace or movement up front. I just think we need to stick with Graham and see what January brings !!! That loss will be killing him like us all !! I probably haven't answered your question in all of that !!!

Altrincham FC First Team / Would be gutted to see Heathcote go
« on: December 27, 2007, 07:04:42 PM »
The performance was horrendous on Saturday and starting Aspinal and Scotty in centre mid was crazy.Aspinal had not played for weeks and to be put in a centre mid role ( the most important position ) when he is already out of his depth in this league was baffling. We are missing Val Owen big time, people who come on here and say get rid of him in January are bonkers we need Val. We needed to start with two natural midfielders in Whalley and Sedge on Saturday. We were murdered in the first half.

But at the end of the day it was the players performances apart from Lawton and Senior that hurt. One thing I know about watching Alty in the past, it may not be pretty and it may not be skillful but we have battled in games and on Saturday I was ashamed of that team. No excuse they were an embarrassment to the club. I felt like going up to the bench putting a shirt on and I would have showed more pride and passion than half the team put together. Rule number one has to be at least close players down, we never got stuck in and were second to every ball apart from Senior's goal.

Graham Heathcote has an Alty heart and I am worried that if anyone else comes in that they would put us in a financial mess. Graham and Geoff Goodwin have doen an amazing job. A job that I believe no other non-league manager could do. I come on here and question his tactics but I would be gutted to see him go. Lets see what the next couple of games can bring, if we have to get rid of players lets loose players like Aspinal, McFadden, Munroe who aren't good enough for the conference.

We need Shotton back because it isn't Tinson which keeps that defence together its Shotton. I know we can't attract players on the lowest wage in the league, but we need an attacking centre mid with an engine, right winger, centre back and strong quick forward !!! Logan didn't do nothing wrong on Saturday and a few more games he will be flying, we have to stick with him and give him a go. O'Neil only started playing well in the last 8-10 games last season so why can't Carlos be given a chance.

One last thing, bloody set pieces ???????? I'd rather the opposite team have a free kick because at least we would have more players back to defend when the ball comes straight back at us. Aspinal floating balls in like a blody sand wedge into the keepers arms when no-one ever stands on the keeper. let's stop fannying about and whip those balls in at pace into the 6 yard box, any touch could be a goal. The days of bomber Harris flick on, near post for Andy green, Paul France and others to head in. Get Tinson on front post, Lawton on keeper and make teams panic !!!!

I could not go to the game today as I had to work but spoke to my mate who went.

SAME OLD BL**DY STORY

Graham please change it. I said weeks, no it must be months back that if we defend we will go down and its getting worst. I can not remember many games when we have won with O'Neil in the side, get rid of him, he is maybe low in confidence but he is also sh*te. Sedgemore, there is more energy in my little finger, no heart, lazy, does not cover and pointless. Give logan a flaming go, play Whalley it ain't rocket science.

Graham will have a reason why Scotty pleyed a man marking game today but I think Graham thinks too much into tactics now a days. He  shows to much respect to teams and has negative tatics. It is knocking years off my life watching us play this season. I would rather see us at least go for it for teams from the off. Instead, we wait until we are 1,2 or 3 down before we decide we need to change it and chance the game against full time teams. It is crap tactics and will see us go down.

Graham has spoke about new faces in January, it seems like he has given up until then. We can get at least 6 points over christmas period with the games against Northwich. I would not criticise Graham if he went all out attack at least at home. I am sure most of the fans would like to see an attacking team and just bloody go for it, let us get a goal or two lead. At home we should not be playing a centre mid on the wing in Peyton, he can never take people on and will never get to the by-line, as for O'Neil on the right wing, he can't actually do anything, even up front, total garbage!!!

Team

GK Coburn

RB Lane
LB Peyton or Scotty
CB Shotton
CB Tinson

LW Logan
RW Robbie
CM Whalley
CM Val ( when fit ) whilst unfit Robbie or Peyton, I reckon Logan can even do a job on the right wing cutting in and smashing shots at the goal, Ellison always cut in and scored a lot of goals from the wing

CF Little ( short on confidence, but can change the game with a pass or goal)
CF Senior ( menance and up to now player of the season )
