Calming down now..we'll get 46 points and here is how..

The key to the rest of the season is whether Kenny and Bimmo can pick the lads up and keep on with the mentatlity that every game is a one off.

I have looked at the fixtures and done my predictions.  Wasn't going to put them on here as they'll be requoted when they are wrong but here is how I see the rest of the season with some reasons as to why.

Newport A – Draw - 1 pt - Battling 0-0....a herculean effort with little flair or fun but a point in Wales against a Newport side on the slide.

FGR – H – Draw - 1 pt -  Its a  must win must win must win all the way on the forum but its a 1-1 draw after we lead for a long time.

Tamworth H – Win - 3 pts - A 1-0 win against a terrible Tamworth side...Reeves pen late on

Darlington A – Loss -  Routine 3-0 defeat against a useful Darlington side (i'll be there by the way)...not a lot of positives

Southport H – draw 1 pt - must win must win must win ends in a draw - 1- 1 and we are counting missed chances once again

Cambridge H – win - 3 pts - 2-0 win over a Cambridge side coasting to the end of the season.

FGR A – loss - 0 pts -  lots of big build up to this one but its a 2-0 defeat. Written off again as down.

Fleet – loss - 0  pts an undeserved 1-0 defeat after a good performance.  Written off again as really really down

Newport – win - 3 pts 2-1 win over a very unarsed Newport side

Grims – draw - 1 pt   great battling point 0-0

Eastbourne - win -  3 pts I have put win here because only a win will do.

Thats 16 pts...and 46 points in total.

I have factored in a few Alty conditions like we'll draw the must wins and lose the big one at FGR.

Rip me to shreds...despite my fragile state today I can take it.

Ecky....your predicting talent will be laid bare as next to useless as we cruise to a comfortable 3-0 victory at newport...which hughsey misses coz he's still insistent their ground is on the isle of wight.....a hat trick by twiss is celebrated by the whole team lifting their shirts to reveal they've all had a club crest tattoo-ed on their hearts......the ref sends off the entire team for over celebrating in a rare show of common sense but as there's only 5 minutes to go the result stands........

God I've missed doing those daft predictions.

.....also I can well see us losing all the must and should win games and then winning at places like darlo and fleetwood.

No ripping to shreds required, however I am going for;

Newport - lose
FGR - win
Tamworth - draw
Darlington - lose
Southport - win
Cambridge - draw
FGR - draw
Fleetwood - lose
Newport - draw
Grimsby - lose
Eastbourne - win

I haven't gone for scores because as markecky has pointed out in the past I am sh*t at it.

My predictions total 43 points - GULP!!

Having only just got over what I saw last night, I believe we will still do it. It was arguably a more must win for Barrow last night, whose next 3 games are away against teams in the bottom 6, and they haven't won away all season.

Our key period comes after Saturday (though if we play to our abilities,we should get a good result at Newport). 4 out of the next 5 at home to teams in the bottom 9. We need as many people at Moss Lane for all these games (I'm absolutely gutted to be missing Tamworth). We could get 10 points out of those games, which would put us within touching distance of the 45 points that I think will see us safe, though at the moment we would go down on gd if we do.

There will be plenty of ups and downs come April 30th, and hopefully the biggest up will be on that day  :)

Think there will be a lot of shocks before the end of the season.
45 points will be good

We need to win all our home games, anything picked up away from moss lane is a bonus as far as i a concerned.

Wow.

Of course it's not impossible, but our arses are going to be squeaking ten to the dozen by the time the agm lady starts to gargle.

Last night was bitterly disappointing, but how many times have you felt like that this season? A game we know we should have a good chance of getting something from, only to be clattered down to earth with the most lack-lustre of displays. Then again, how many times have you been surprised by points stolen from a goody bag that looked way beyond our wildest reach?

Who knows? It's another roller-coaster ride to the end of the season. Who needs mid-table mediocrity (my ulcer wouldn't say No....I've called him Paisley)? White knuckle ride from a distance is no joyous experience either.

There are points left, we have a chance.....I believe, because if I don't I may as well give up and I'm too long in the tooth for that.

COME ON ALTY.

P.S. Ecky if your preds are true, I'll have not seen them beaten this season (and I'm truly hoping those Mariners don't piss on my fish)

At least we won't have to play in a wind tunnel again this season. I'm not predicting en masse, but I do honestly believe we'll take three points off Southport because they're absolutely sh*te away from Haig Avenue.

Ecky,

I understand what you're saying here but I have to disagree somewhat.

We are (still) the lowest scoring team in the league.
The real key to the rest of the season lies in addressing that deficiency successfully.
Unless that aspect of our game improves, we will not escape finishing in one of the relegation spots.

Attacking options comprising a currently out-of-form Reeves; the yet-to-score-a-single-league-goal and futile Beesley and that white elephant (in every sense) Twiss will not keep us up in my opinion.

Without wishing to draw any mental pictures, I've gone well beyond squeaky bum time, that was about four weeks ago.
