Time to put the FA Cup in a box until Sunday. Saturday is by far and away the biggest match of the season to date. Despite last weeks unlikely hammering at previously winless Basingstoke, Torquay had picked up in recent weeks before last week. After fluffing our lines to be well clear against Halifax and Kidderminster we have a real chance to put breathing space between ourselves and the bottom four. A win would put us 7 points ahead of Torquay a defeat would leave them right on our tail. They'll want a reaction after Saturday so we must be at our very best.
Hopefully crowther back in contention and also ranks with a bit of luck. Do we know if parry has gone back now?
-
Agree let's no lose focus on this.
Believe Parry is going for a scan so can't see a decision on him will be taken until results are known.
Desperately need Crowther back. Should Rankine be fit then LS has a big decision as to formation and selection.
-
Isn't Rankine meant to be out for some time ?Is Densmore far off a return ?
-
Wasn't Rankine jogging round pitch pre ko on Saturday?
-
And high-fiving the ballboys, much to their delight!
-

The word after Chester game was he's about a fortnight away, with a hamstring problem. Dens roughly twice as long.
-
Still 0-0 so far. Little much has happened.

In which case we don't rush him back. If he's not 100% don't play him on Saturday. We'll desperately need his physicality against Barnsley.

freezing as well

good to see little playing,is potts on the wing?
-
Good to see Ryan back in contention, they've a couple back that were missing last week. Their league form had taken a bit of an upturn prior to last Saturday's cup hammering
-
they have just got a loan striker from port Vale

Torquay have taken more points (five) from their last three league fixtures than Alty have managed to gain (two) during theirs.
I hope that the significance of Saturday's game won't get lost amidst all the Barnsley palaver.
-
Time to give all this Barnsley talk the chop. ;D
-
Torquay are in the bottom four, below Alty. Remember Halifax........................
-
tepid one all draw. Little to stir the blood.
-
It's a must win game this after fluffing our lines against Halifax and Kidderminster, we should be well clear now, but we never do it the easy way,
-
Anything we get at the moment, with our playing resources as stretched as they are, will have to be fought for. I'm hoping to be fit enough to attend - and see us get at least a draw - but nothing is guaranteed.
-
Would like to see us beat the lads from the English Riviera and as others have stated, put some breathing space between us and the lower teams..
If this happens, i will be a happy teddy driving home with three points clutching my FA Cup tickets in my optimistic palm....

Alty 2-1 Torquay.

That first half was as bad as we've played this season. We can't carry on having 12 fit players, there's got to be a time where we bite the bullet and bring some loan players in. Very little in terms of pace and creative play with so many missing. We should be sat solidly mid table now. To gain just 2 points from 9 against Halifax Kidderminster and Torquay is just putting pressure on ourselves.
-
tepid one all draw. Little to stir the blood.
Spot on.
-
Anyone know the reason for the red card?
-
The number 10 ran back down field and shoved his team mate number 3 right in front of the ref. had no option but to send him off
-
In the end a point was OK, would have taken that at half time even though last 10 we looked like we would win it.
First half they ran their socks off and we simply didnt have the quality to keep the ball. Once they tired and we got more space we took control.
With the paper-thin squad we have at the moment I am glad we are keeping the bottom 5 at bay.

Hopefully no new injuries picked up.Clee doesnt seem to be able to manage more than a couple of games before getting injured.
-
Glad we got a point. We could/should have won it in a better second half. We were dire in the first 45 mins and if we play like that next Sat we will get stuffed.
Bowerman is idle and Jordon Sinnot want to grab his dad and get him to show him how to put in a tackle.
Torquay's midfielder Richards should have been booked in the first half for constant niggling fouls. He continued to do that in the second half. Also their keeper should also have been cautioned for constant time wasting but yet again we get another weak ref who didnt have the bollocks to officiate the game properly. I have said this many times but officials in this league are of a poor quality generally.
Crowther was good when he came on and the regular consistant lads had their normal good games.
(You all know who they are)...
Message for the manager. If you continually refuse to play the young subs, then release them and let them seek a club who will give them a game.. You are deceiving us fans by saying you have a squad of 19 because you havent because you refuse to let them come on for a stint (other than Heathcote) .. You need to strengthen the squad or it will be trips to bloody Harrogate again..
-
Can't understand why we keep playing Jordon at right back , we have a player on the bench who should be given a chance to play centre back in Heatcote, and play Scott at right back , we can't be any worse off .
-
Awful first half but much better second half thou some players seemed to have their minds on next weeks game already as very simple passes were messed up by normally very reliable players.
Strange decision to take Bowerman off and not Lawrie (Not that Bowerman was playing well just better than Lawrie) and whats the point in having the youngsters sat on the bench if they are not going to be used, if only for the last few minutes to get some fresh legs on when some players are obviously knackered.
I did think there was a foul in the build up to Torquays goal.
Almost every goal kick went straight to there No 5 who seemed to win everything in the air.
Nice to have Crowther back as he looked to take people on and did look threatening, something we lacked in the first half.
Overall just about happy with a point as its a game we could quite easily have lost.
-
If I'm brutally honest, for an hour it looked like a half-hearted non-performance by players with more than half an eye on next week. Then on came a player with a case to make for inclusion next Saturday, and bang! we looked interested. Torquay's defence was easily rattled; a player whose impact on the game had been negligible suddenly produced a superb strike for the equaliser; we ended up playing against 10 for reasons which I certainly wasn't aware of; and we went close to winning a game we wouldn't have deserved to. At the moment any points we get are very welcome, given the injury problems (any news as to why Nicky Clee was missing?), but I for one am amazed (and grateful!) that we're still four points above 21st place. There will come a moment when one or more of the youngsters has to be blooded, but I wouldn't want to change the back four for now, to be honest. Here's hoping the number of senior players available for Saturday is at least no less than today, and preferably up by one or two.

Re the Red Card the reason being quoted around the area of the dugouts was that he had pushed the referee in a non accidental manner.
This is apparently his second dismissal for this "crime" so he may well be watching for a while if this is indeed the case

You must be bonkers, take one of the best centre halfs around and replace him with an inexperienced 18 yr old and then play him at RB when Jordan has done well there and has got better with each game.
Please take your blinkers off !

Apparently he pushed one of his own team mates in a violent manner in view of the ref. Then when he got back into their dressing room and saw his room-mate whom he pushed it kicked off again! Their RB N0 2 I think.

Same injury, he's had another groin injection. Maybe OK for next saturday.

Bet the coach ride home was entertaining !

though that is a good point to not play heathcote against kiddy when we were down to 2 fit defenders was wrong
-
Ironically, I felt that their number 2 and number 10 were exactly the players we need in our team - though preferably not at the same time.
For our part, there's no way on this Earth I'd break Luca and Scott up right now. Jordan at right back is not ideal obviously, but he is doing his best under the circumstances. Would love some sort of update on the injuries, as a fit Ranks today would have destroyed those two Torquay centre backs.
-
Jordan did really well again yesterday at RB and made some very good tackles and his distribution was good too. He has definitely improved a lot and is well worth his place now.
-
Even if we had Luca and Marshall/Parry
I wouldn't play Scott at RB. We miss Dens mores ability to go forward, and I think Jordan has the pace to overlap, and to deliver better than scott.

he played ok the goal was from his side he probably should play at right back but that's more to do with the poor balance of squad than how well he has done
-
I'm not having a go at Jordon for the sake of it he does his best in the situation , it was just an idea , pardon me for the suggestion .

scott leather is a better right back than Sinnott however he is probably the best centre half we've had since Ryan shotton so he must play there
-
That first half was the worse 45 mins of season.
Much improved 2nd half especially when Crowther replaced Bowerman.
Draw a fair reflection of the game and truly world class strike from Moult,
As for Sinnott at RB, its his best position but he's not as good as Densmore there.
-
We really need clee and ranks to be fit for next week, if not get that Callum Hassan signed up who's now without a club after Kidderminster couldn't offer him anything if he's not cup tied. Watching barnsleys game at SC**thorpe they look very young, very lightweight and very low on confidence.

im glad crowther came on and he would be in my team but he was disappointing when he came on

We are a better team with Scott Leather at centre mid...........he is one of the best in this league so why play him out of position?
JS has done ok at RB in my opinion
I just hope that these points dropped at home to three duff sides and playing top flight NL football with a squad of 12 players does not come back to haunt us in April
-
Rankine was interviewed at Ht on RR and I would be amazed if we see him back in the next couple of weeks, he trained on thursday and had some sharp pains in the injured hammy .....
