Very Good but the Forest finish rather spoils it, I was expecting Wembley to be the final shot

The Forest finish is because a friend of mine persuaded me to replace the original Bootham Crescent ending with Forest because he wanted to put it on YouTube.

The original is designed as an anti-celebration of York City's 75 years at Bootham Crescent, as a reaction to the club's "celebration", tour ground which will demolished within the next decade.

The problem is seats are killing the game. Terraces should never be replaced.

Terraces add atmosphere.

I used to go to a few old first divsions grounds (just for the hell of it), and there was noise and participation in the game.

I went to watch M'boro V b'rum (Alty were off) a couple of years ago, and what a load of old cak. Ok the teams were poor and the gound far from full but the atmosphere was non-existent.

Terraces ARE safe.

Terraces can be safe but with proper stewarding and ticketing and certainly not with fences or moats in front of them. I did stand on many outmoded terraces with inadequate barriers back in the 70's and sometimes with a crowd in they could be scary and dangerous places. If you watch old clips some of the surges you see....The Kop in particular was famous for it..... could be dangerous, all it took would be for someone to go over and they would be trampled. Also having someone pee down the back of your leg is a bit off-putting!

The thing I prefer though is if you go to an all seater and you get some moron behind you there's nothing you can do, at least on a terrace you can generally move away.

All Seater Footy Stadia are dangerous, end of!!

You get a punch up in the middle of a bank of seats..how do the Stewards and/or Police get in there before someone gets badly damaged and how do they deal with it when their mobility is so restricted by the environment they're trying to work in ?

Some poor unfortunate has a heart attack or CVA in the middle of a bank of seats..... dead before the help can get to them

Personal view, sorry if it offends

Agree. Plastic all-seater stadia are soulless. One of the reasons clubs have moved to new grounds (Arsenal, Man City) is to increase capacity. Introducing German-style safe terracing could save the old grounds. The south stand in Dortmund's stadium has 25,000 standing places that can then be converted into seats for international or European games. Imagine what an atmosphere they have there.

"The VELTINS-Arena has staggered barriers on every fourth step of its standing section. These can be easily removed and replaced with seating for international and European club games that operate under all-seater rules." BBC

I can't see why that wouldn't be safe.

It would be.

I beleive it comes down to cash.  Why charge £15 to stand when you can charge £25 to sit?

Terraces are never going to be what they were so the increased capacity things doesn't necessarily hold true.

Lessons have been learnt, I'm not saying go back to the Kop days when you start off watching a game and end the games 30 yds from where you were originally.

It is far more dangerous to stand in seated areas - and if you watch the championship loads of club fans do it. On that basis I predict terraces will be back, at championship level at least, within 5 years.

ROCK ON ALTY.
