that really was every man for himself wasnt it?
me and my mate rick found a place down the side where we could be over the wall and on the pitch in 2 strides and hid like girls for the whole game

No not at all it is in the guiness book of records that GH scored evry time we had a free kick thus leading to the phrase it's in heathcote terratory

it must be my memory playing tricks, i thought it went
"HEATHCOTE, HEATHCOTE, HEATHCOTE....... oh well"

i cant remember if it was that particular mossley game but i remember being there one evening when there were some lads kicking a ball around on the pitch at half time. there was an announcemen 'would the boys playing football leave the pitch now, the players are coming out'  but they carried on 'come on lads clear the pitch now' but they carried on  ' oi, get off the f***ing pitch'
funny what you remember

the rotherham match was indeed the best performance i ever saw. i found that day really emotional because it was so damn professional. barry howard beat the full back about 4 times on his scoring run

didnt phil mcgreal get both those last minute equalisers against bishops stortford and wycombe? both flying headers?
the bishops stortford replay and the wycombe second leg also stand as some of the great performances

surely it was mainly gently over the wall into the waiting keepers arms   ;)

i was going to say the sheff utd game too
as you say they were top of the 4th at the time. if they showed something like that on match of the day now alty would be justly famous. most cup upsets  are scrappy affairs with a lot of luck involved but that night they were taked to the cleaners. barry howard ripped up stewart houston and heathcote scored one of the best goals i have ever seen.

the league cup semi? with mossley when we were losing 4-1? and barry howard provoked (punched) eamon o'keefe into a fight getting them both sent off. in a mad ending we ran out 5-4 winners
(lost the second leg anyway though).

midweek games for me have always had a special character particularly midwinter, something 'crackly' about them.

the worst? i tend not to remember the bad ones

once upon a time the meat and potato pies sold at moss lane made by baileys bakers in broadheath were the best around.

a couple of years ago i went to bolton to watch west ham. i know its no big deal if you live in the north, but bolton sold hollands pies and west ham fans were having one and joining the queue again for more. you just cant get a decent pie in the south

lewes is nearest to mine too, i can feel a weekend away coming on

VERY disappointed with woking away on the first day. i have to be up in stockport over that weekend for a family wedding so anyone at home would have been great. to make it worse woking are one of the easy to rech from london ones
