Mark Maddox Testimonial
BID ON A CENTENARY SIGNED ALTRINCHAM FC SHIRT

As part of the Mark Maddox Testimonial I am putting up one of my signed and framed Altrincham Shirts up for auction.

It has been agreed with Brian Flynn and Grahame Rowley that this should be done via the internet and the winning bidder will be presented the framed shirt after the match v Tranmere on the 23 July 2011, the day of the testimonial.

All money from the auction will be going towards the testimonial and that's why it been decided to do this via the forum \ official site and not Ebay or other auction sites.

Please reply to this post with your bids
Bidding will end on Friday 22nd July 2011 @ 5pm

Any questions \ queries please email me at gazwarrington@hotmail.com.

** HAPPY BIDDING ** REMEMBER ALL MONEY WILL BE GOING TO MARK AND HIS FAMILY **
Please only post a bid if you are serious about your bid.

Altrincham FC chairman, Grahame Rowley announces on behalf of the Mark Maddox Testimonial Committee that "As part of Maddog's (Mark Maddox's) Testimonial game on July 23rd (against Tranmere Rovers) we have very kindly been offered two fantastic prizes by Rod Thornley, who unfortunately can't be present on the day due to being in the USA with Manchester United.
He has offered a Wayne Rooney shirt signed by all the team and a John Terry England shirt signed by all the team. So that everyone has an opportunity to win a prize we are changing the format of the bidding.

If anyone is interested in winning one of the shirts you are asked to put your name on a £10 note and every note will be entered into a draw at the end of the night when the winner will have the choice of which shirt he would like. The other shirt will be used at a Sportsman's Dinner planned for September 23rd again with all proceeds going to Mark.

If you can't be present on July 23rd for the Tranmere game but would like to be entered in the raffle/auction for the signed shirt please either send in or bring in your £10 note to the club with your name on (marked for the attention of Karen Rowley), and it will be entered into the draw on the night. Where else would you get the opportunity to own a signed Wayne Rooney shirt or a John Terry shirt for just a tenner?!!!!

Many thanks to Rod Thornley for this very generous donation - very much appreciated."

Just a quick note that it was great to read and see that Alty were present at the festival. I helped many moosn ago when we were in it and it felt good to be helping the club.

Well done to those that gave up their time to promote Alty in the town... Lets hope it raises our profile and grabs an extra fan or two :)

COME ON ALTY

Altrincham FC First Team / Still never fails to amuse me ...
« on: June 29, 2011, 03:49:31 PM »
Went for a job interview today and got on to talking about football and of course Altrincham FC. The interviewer came out with "Oh they were relegated weren't they from the GM Vauxhall Conference" ....

How can someone have knowledge of our relegation but not realise the league has moved on a bit since then ? I didn't say anything as awaiting the response to the interview :o)

The best bit was the interview was for a job at FORD !!!!

Altrincham FC First Team / MOTIVATION TIME - REASONS TO BE OPTIMISSTIC
« on: April 26, 2011, 05:49:12 PM »
Reet. We have 90mins of football and results needing to go our way... Yeah it seems like a hard task but times like this always make me think about Carlisle's great escape that put Scarborough down.... Scarborough were celebrating staying up when Sky Sports news switched over to show that the Carlisle keeper had scored... If Carlisle can do it with a goal keeper scoring in the final minute of the final game then the ROBINS can do it in 90mins.

For the first time ever on final  day I am confident things will go our way and the old footballing gods will smile down on us as FGR will be relegated and Alty stay up, thus in turn making the scores between the two clubs 'almost' level and a great day \ night \ morning at Moss Lane.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6iRHbWDXEY

Imagine Alty scoring late .. .The feeling .. The invasion (not thats preplanned or anything!!!) .. the delight ... The ecstasy ... The look on Peakes face as FGR are sent down !!!

COME ON YOU RED AND WHITE SO AND SO's. LETS MAKE HISTORY !!!

Altrincham FC First Team / Mark Sertori
« on: February 25, 2011, 10:13:46 PM »
I am prob slow on the uptake here but watching Manchester City yesterday I noticed that he is a masseur at Manchester City as was mentioned in commentary, as well as England.

So thats Rod at MU and Mark at MC and both with England. Not a bad stepping stone are we  ;)

On the subject of Sertori , one of the hardest men I have ever seen in an Alty shirt (and there have been a few)

Altrincham FC First Team / Loan Players
« on: February 24, 2011, 11:13:53 AM »
With us now having to rely more and more on loan players its great to see that these players always come in and do their best.

Its good that a player is interested in stepping up and doing it for a club rather than just get some game time somewhere else and going through the motions. Maybe this is cos now these 'fringe players' at other clubs are desperate to show how good they are so as to continue their career.

It just seems that every loan player we have got recently has had the correct attitude and within days they are calling us 'we' as opposed to 'Altrincham' and are up for the fight.

I am sure the current players help a lot in making these players feel welcome and help them understand what playing for Altrincham is all about.

COME ON ALTY

Altrincham FC First Team / BEFORE I GET HECKLED FOR REMOVING A POST
« on: February 14, 2011, 10:40:59 AM »
Yes I know its a forum, and yes I give my opinions (usually extreme) as do others but when I read it I thought it was a bit close to the bone, and this was backed up by others (some who asked for it to be deleted)I have decided to remove the post.

Sorry for those that contributed to it in a sensible manner.

I expect a barrage of abuse now but I have to cover other people (inc myself) and although its the contributors views it can still be the administrators who get questioned as to why it was allowed to be on.

I would suggest people are directed to the thread "le sulk " ( http://www.altyfans.co.uk/index.php?topic=11882.0 )as it basically sums up the deleted thread, and no use havin a loads of threads on the same subject. Take note of the excellent post by Ecky. That is where I think the topic 'Le Sulk' and the one deleted differs.

Altrincham FC First Team / The usual JL gem...
« on: January 19, 2011, 06:52:58 PM »
Always enjoy the match reports, esp for comments like this :

Referee Johnson had to break up the inordinately long pre-match bonding huddle by Tamworth before this game could start. But despite the host's apparent fondness for each other their game was to be riddled with passes to the opposition, as if they were strangers
