We will agree to disagree then; I don’t think Baines is a good enough defender

I’m not saying it was just Baines, merely pointing out his positioning on the second goal on that still image I saw was woeful. The photo does also show Barrows clutching at thin air as their 4 is starting his jump to win a free header

That's really unfair though, you can't take a still image of a highly fluid passage of play and make any judgment from it. If you watch the highlights you'll see that Baines did his job in that set piece. He's facing the way he is because the ball has already gone over him and has been headed towards goal.

Now, if we can discuss Barrows...

I wouldn’t say a set play is ‘highly fluid’ and a defensive player should not be facing his own goal at any point while the ball is in the air from a defensive set play. Man to man you stay goal side of your man and zonal you stay in your zone with your back to your own goal to clear the ball.

Barrows totally switched off and was woeful on both goals last night. I did say at the start of the season I don’t like signing defenders from relegated teams. There are plenty of times he just doesn’t look arsed too

He was clueless before his injury so tonight being his first game for a while is irrelevant really
An extremely poor signing

He started the first six games.

D4
L2

He played three of the six out of position covering at left back.

I’m not arsed enough to go back through the highlights to be honest but I’ll happily retract my defence of him if you can point out various individual errors in each of the six games that would point to him being inept, but I suspect you won’t be able to, apart from the back pass to Mee at Maidenhead which Mee should have dealt with to be honest.

Incredibly lazy and frankly weird comment.

You don’t have to look very hard. The second goal last night he is facing the wrong way to defend the corner and not looking at the ball. There’s a photo on Barnet’s Instagram (don’t know how to attach on here). Facing your own goal when defending a corner isn’t the sign of a good defender.

This guy deserves all the praise. Week in week out he carries the team and is a pleasure to watch. Certainly wouldn’t begrudge him a move in January, he’s far too good for us.

I still don’t think Parky knows his strongest XI which is scary at this stage of the season. It seems as though we inevitably go 1 down and then Parky is happy trying to bore the oppo into submission by us passing the ball around the back 4. Try something different ffs

Altrincham FC First Team / Half Time
« on: November 01, 2022, 11:14:49 PM »
Whatever is said at half time to the players isn’t working. We have conceded 7 goals now in the first 5 minutes of the second half (Boreham Wood, Chesterfield x2, Solihull, Notts County, Torquay and now Wealdstone).

The start of each half the players should have clear instructions of what needs to be done. Parky clearly isn’t up to it in this league tactically

2-0 up at half time and dominating. We need to see games off. 4-0 at half time wouldn’t have flattered us. What does Parky tell them at half time??

Time to go Parky. Thanks for everything but you are taking us backwards now.

How ridiculous? Described as the best manager in the league by Adam Virgo. Apart from anything else, how do you propose we pay up the remaining 20 months of his contract?

I’m shocked you think Adam Virgo’s opinion on non league football means anything. If you’re happy drawing a game that you’re 2-0 up in half way through, have hit that bar and had a penalty saved with your goalkeeper having saved 1 shot at goal then our footballing ambitions are miles apart

Altrincham FC First Team / Scunny Post Match Interview
« on: September 14, 2022, 08:48:51 PM »
Just listened to this and is Parky and the interviewer taking the p*ss out of us. Do they honestly think there were ‘lots of positives’ to take from that last night.

‘We are all working hard all week’ ‘this lad wants to do well and works hard’ f*ck off!! The players PP has got in aren’t good enough, simple as. They can work as hard as they want but they are not up to it at this level.

Stop treating us like idiots Parky

No idea what our best XI is I just wish we didn’t set up so negatively. Playing possession football is great but the game is all about sticking the ball in their net and keeping it out of your own. All the 5 yard passing from Lundstram and Osborne in the middle of midfield won’t keep us up

I wish Parky would grow a pair and attack teams. Scunny are woeful and it’s definitely 2 points dropped tonight.

Agree with a lot of what’s been said. Lundstram and Osborne are too negative (play backwards 99% of the time), James Jones looks a liability and can’t pass the ball to one of our players.

If Kaja comes on at 1-0 up we don’t concede 2 goals but PP arse fell out and bottled it.

We have gone full time but are so far off where we were last season. Very worrying times, we will go down I think

Dermot Mee was not the problem on Saturday.

Byrne would not have conceded 5 based on the highlight clips imo.

Baines wouldn’t be in my starting XI either, the titanic turned quicker than he does

On the highlights of a 5-1 mauling you expect to see your goalkeeper making saves. Mee came for one cross and fumbled it in those clips. He is costing us.

It’s like having John Johnston in goal again. Start playing the GK you bought Parky before it’s too late

Damp squibs compared to some others in the league

Don’t usually agree but I do here. These young lads will get eaten alive in this league
