Altrincham FC First Team / Re: We could do with one of these
« on: April 04, 2008, 11:06:55 AM »
It would be great if we could have a small shop in the town centre, selling club and general merchandise along with match tickets for forthcoming fixtures etc.

http://www.nvfc.co.uk/board/index.php?topic=2486.0

This is a great idea. The biggest stumbling block i think we would have is the venture would need to return a positive return IE  a profit.

And my fear is; the only way that would be possible would be for the landlords to offer some sort of deal on the rent; EG 6 months free a yr etc.

And judging by the amount of empty retail space in Altrincham where the landlords seem to prefer to leave the units empty through lack of interest or refusal to offer such incentives im not holding my breath.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Very proud today
« on: March 29, 2008, 06:26:59 PM »
I know it may have been suggested on another thread, but the effort the lads put in today deserves a thread all of its own. I've never seen so many Alty players wearing their hearts on their sleaves and playing with as much pride as today. For those of you not present it is difficult to put into words. The entire team was outstanding. They may indeed go down, but if today is anything to go by, it will be fighting. Well done Alty and roll on the next game.

Very happy with a point well deserved

Come on ALty

Nothing wrong with the poll whatsoever. This is a fans forum and fans are entitled to voice their opinions re. Alty FC. The poll (and its results) may well have influenced Mr. Heathcote's more positive and effective selections in recent games. COME ON ALTY!

I think you may have mis understood my post. I have never come onto this forum and questioned any ones opinion.

That is infact why i come on such forums because opinions are a continual stimulation and fascination to me.

My question is why someone would a week ago want to have a change; and then a week later say leave it untill the end of the season??

What i am asking for is some consistancy in peoples opinions.

Its never going to happen. We're all fickle bastards!

BRING BACK LOGAN!!!

lmao i quite liked Logan ;)

As I have stated previously I have no personal gripe with Graham Heathcote despite my recent exasperation about, in particular, the performance away at Grays, but more generally our negative approach to games this season. I think we all now agree that the way forward in the short term is to all stand together and make a massive effort to beat off the threat of relegation. Anything else is for the close season.

With all this in mind I would just like to say how refreshing it was to see us play such attractive attacking football at Aldershot on Saturday, and also to hear that we played such a positive lineup against Stafford (at least in the first half). Only time will tell if we have changed our approach soon enough but I am confident that if we continue to play this type of attractive football there is a lot to feel confident about. I complained about our performance at Grays in the strongest possible terms (and rightly so) but I feel it is only right to praise good performances also in the strongest terms where credit is due. We now know beyond all doubt that the players have it in them to perform against the very best sides in this league and there is no reason why we can't raise it for the visit of Torquay this Saturday.

Good luck to all the lads for the remainder of the season. Be confident and be committed because you can do this!

Come on Alty!!!!

Whilst i echo your sentiment the question remains why did you only last week put up a poll asking whether Ken Mckenna would be the better option?

Some of the stuff put up this forum really beggers belief sometimes.

I agree completley any talk of reorganisation is best either early in a season or at the close. Polls with a month to go do nothing but unsettle and distract from the job in hand .. survival.

I dread to think where we would be without him this season.

.... life allows you a glimpse of what the future may hold. To me, this was the case yesterday.

That is what we have to look forward to every week next season if we cannot stay above the dotted line. If that isn't enough for the fans to raise the roof and get behind the lads even more than usual I don't know what is.

My slight worry (if you can have one after a win) is that, unbelievably, we can play down to the level of the opposition sometimes. We did it against Farsley and I thought we did it yesterday too to a certain degree.

So, to anyone who thinks that going down isn't the worst thing in the world - go buy the DVD of yesterdays game !!!!

COME ON ALTY !!!!!

I think you make a great point here. We definatley seem to raise and drop our game accordingly depending on the opposition.

Lets stay up in this leauge at any cost :D

On the theme of this, have Alty ever had a mob??

I refer your question to the posting of the good man Gazelle

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: RIP - Gary "Skipper" Wright
« on: March 22, 2008, 11:38:12 AM »
Skipper sorry to see you go.. My abiding memory would be of you on your first away coach when we were in the Unibond Leauge.

You had a wee bit to drink and as we were a bit aprenhensive to ask you your name we named Skipper for which you were know only as for some time.

Alty through and through and will be sorley missed.

You were the Skipper plain and simple RIP.

Mr Morihnio (the great one) and his trusty assitant usually hold a star jumping competition a couple of weeks before the game is due to be played.

Those who can not perform silly warm up moves may not apply :P

5204
We got to keep the cup last year (even despite them having numerous ringers :P)

Do we get to keep the redundant snackbar this year if victorious? ;)

Does anyone else sense an aura of panic?

YES

BUMP

Unbelievable .... if no one had been drafted  in you would have just have quickly have said why did we not bring any one fresh in.

What makes you even sadder is that you trawled through the old messages to bump this.

Try getting out a bit more.
