Concrete was repaired over the summer and the P.A. is miles clearer. It's godd enough for public safety announcements now! Well done to those involved

The PA is much improved, pity about the sh*te that gets played over it - especially the one that reminds me frighteningly of one of my exes ("Right here ! Right now !"). The next part of the lyric should be "You've missed the turning !". It was usually two streets further along.

I don't think Arnold fits in with our type of play.

I notice Ceesay isn't in Blackpool's squad at the moment...

Will the covers be on tonight as heavy rain forecast overnight?
Less than 50% chance of rain in Alty overnight according to BBC weather (which is usually more accurate than their football news !)

If we don't take all three points tomorrow night, it won't quite be a disaster.....but it'll be pretty damn close. We're fortunate that we're only 5 points adrift after failing to win any of the first three games, so we could haul ourselves up the table with a string of decent results - and it has to start now.

I'd expect Josh Hancock to start in his usual role at the expense of Max Harrop, and Sean Williams for Simon Richman is the other possibility.

Nathan Arnold needs to come off the bench at some point, and show what he's really capable of, whilst Toby Mullarkey could have lots to offer. I can see him in a number of different roles, and I'd have slotted him into midfield for the last 20 minutes or so on Saturday when we were somewhat lacking in power in that department.

Alfreton seemed to take advantage of a Blyth Spartans outfit who already look like relegation fodder, and a narrow defeat at Brackley, followed by a draw at home to Boston, suggests that they've improved since we shoved seven past them at their place last season.

I take us to win 2-1 (Hancock, Hulme) and to kick on from there. With a visit to Brackley up next we need to seriously boost confidence.

Maybe if we don't score first on Wednesday we'll contrive to actually win. We'll have Hancock and Williams available, and that should help.

Branson and Richman played OK individually, but we didn't function properly as a midfield unit. Johnston and Walters too often had to start from too deep. Hulme desperately needs to break his duck - he looks low on confidence to me. Another poor referee didn't help matters.

We started the previous two seasons like this, so I'm not panicking yet.

I've not been to any game so I might be speaking out of turn, but here goes.

We'll be better when Hancock returns on Tuesday.

Followed the 3 games via match updates and must say my heart sinks when Peers comes on, offers nothing from what I read. Massive backwards step in resigning him after his release from FC.

Thought Malarkey might have played in 4 and get Branson further up the pitch.

Inclined to agree. Not good enough to be first choice last season, has he improved any this?

No.

As I thought at the time, there throw in for the goal was a foul throw, with rear foot of the ground. More incompetence.
They took half a dozen foul throws - referees just don't seem interested in that offence nowadays.

After only two matches ? Now THAT'S panic ! All they need to do now is head-hunt Neil Young.....

Maybe Chester's fans were thinking about the abject collection of no-hopers that Johnson and Morley have assembled. We beat a decent outfit last year !

I honestly believe I have never seen a more incompetent official over the entire 90 minutes of a game than the cretin we were saddled with tonight. Yes, we've had bad un's who've made two or three appalling decisions that have robbed us, but this idiot was simply bizarre !

Their number 9 flattened Hampson inside the first minute with what was practically a forearm smash. Ref thinks "I know it's GBH but it's too early to get the red card out." We've seen that before, but to ignore three further offences from the same player (one of them arguably a red card offence) defied belief.

Simon Grand used to be half decent at this level, but he's laughing at Chester for paying him to perform like he did tonight. Another who continued to offend as he pleased without adding to the yellow card he already had.

On the other hand, to book Hampson and Harrop for innocuous challenges after they'd been regularly fouled themslelves,  and White for delaying a free kick by around three seconds, was nothing less than perverse.

You just knew we'd get mugged in the unnecessarily long 5 added minutes (4 would have been stretching it a bit !).

Quite frankly, if he'd been bribed he could scarcely have been any worse.

Heartbreaking to lose two points when the whole team had performed so well. PP has to be very careful about criticising referees, so I'm going to say it for him :

"We were robbed of two points tonight by a team who should have been down to 9  men for the last half hour, and it was totally down to a referee who shouldn't have been let loose on a park pitch with jumpers for goalposts."

Johnson and Morley will be gone before Guy Fawkes night if that Chester team is the best they can offer.

We need to bounce back. We're basically capable of winning if we're at the top of our game, which we weren't on Saturday. Hopefully Jordan Hulme will want to show Johnson and Morley what they're missing. I'd leave Harrop on the bench, and set up with Mullarkey in front of the back four, and Hampson further forward.

My heart says a win, but my head will settle for a draw and a morale boost before we take on Gloucester.
