Early candidates for the AGM cup

NB I'm not suggesting that we will need to have any involvement in the AGM cup this year!

Kettering face ground-lease issue

Kettering Town chairman Imraan Ladak has admitted that there is a 'problem' with their lease at the A-Line Arena.

The Poppies deal is running out and they will need to act fast or face the possibility of demotion from the Blue Square Premier.

"In early 2007 we had correspondence with the FA and the Football Conference that our lease was acceptable," Ladak told BBC Radio Northampton.

"It now appears that there might be an issue with it."

Ladak added: "It's a bit of a complicated situation.

"My ideal solution is to obviously solve the ground issue permanently and then we don't need to worry about the length of lease but yes it is a problem.

"I think everyone knows how important it is that we solve it and we have lots of people working with us trying to resolve it and I'm really positive at the moment."

Tie this in with the Manfield issue (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/mansfield_town/7629522.stm) and Oxford's woes (http://www.oxford.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=125117 and http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/o/oxford_utd/7631116.stm) and the fun has started early this season!

The lease issues surrounding the Rockingham Road site have been ongoing for a number of years. Ladak, I think, has always been angling to move to a new site anyway. The question is has he the cash and/or the connections in terms of finance and the support of the local authority to enable him to  buy up the present lease or secure a site elsewhere?  If his efforts providing the wherewithall for a decent enough squad are any indication here, then, apart from the possibility of being hampered by red tape, he'll ensure the ground issue isn't a problem if he can help it.  But I guess it's a question of watch this space.

Oh and throw Weymouth into the mix possibly?  The rumour mill there seems to have started turning again.      And no one has mentioned Vics for a while  ;)
