Above but Lundstram for Williams.
-
1-1 pens - 300 plus alty fans watching the live streaming
-
I'm presuming that this match will witness the first ever instance at the J Davidson Stadium of both teams taking a knee?
-
Above but Lundstram for Williams.
I agree

Above but Lundstram for Williams.
I agree
Durrell and Mooney would start the other way round too
-
Yes, Lundstram definitely in. 3 nil and praying for no injuries/dismissals.
-
Every team has made it to the play offs for a reason, and anything can happen on the day, but if you could handpick a game from the sides available then it would be Chester at home.
We’ll cruise through. Declare on 3-0 after 60 mins, change half the side, and play out the rest of the game.

you have watched Alty before haven’t you? That’s not how we do playoff games - ever
Other than the game at Stoke we have to go behind and leave it very late to get back into it and winners cannot be scored before 75 minutes and more often 90 / 120
-
I anticipate quite a tight game, as most Alty-Chester encounters are and neither team has played in 4 months.
2-1 Alty. Hulme and Hancock.
Hannigan with a 'Make sure he knows you're there' tackle on Johnston in first 10 minutes would be great.
Come on Alty!!
-
We win 1-0 in stoppage time with a penalty.

We win 1-0 in stoppage time with a penalty.
My guts won't cope well!
-
I feel sick already.
Superstition dictates my prediction of
Alty 0 chester 3
Johnson 5, 35, 46 (pen)
Red card Thompson (46) Hulme (89)
Come on you red and white bastards
Love Alty
Love PP and the boys
Get justice for the miscarriage of justice at pompey.
-
3-1 to the Alty
Hancock, Hume and Durrel
Come on Alty
-
I awoke at 5am this morning and was unable to get back to sleep, thereby waking up and annoying Carys from Chester (she is following Altrincham just in case you were wondering).
-
Can’t wait for the game today. Woke up early in Orkney this morning thinking of how (or indeed where) to celebrate our victory today. COME ON YOU REDS!!!
-
I'm in the North Yorkshire Moors with the family and thank God I have got a decent connection here- all set up and ready for this. im nervous like a 10 year old - dread and excitement in equal measure
COME ON ALTY - -IM GOING FOR 2 1 ALTY HULME SCORES BOTH OUR GOALS
-
No Dens or Jones.
are they going to leave that image in the middle of the screen?
-
Elliott Wynne on the bench... I thought he'd left permanently?
-
I wasn't aware Jones had turned down a contract extension...
-
Elliott Wynne on the bench... I thought he'd left permanently?
Guessing he’s signed as emergency cover in the same way as Chester were allowed to sign Worsnop.
-
Anyone know where Dens is.

Hi, damned inconsiderata
-
1-0 Hancock
-
Player of the post season
-
We're winning but can certainly play better - defensively both teams are iffy with their threat coming in the air. Jordan and Elliott need to step up a bit really. Would expect us to smother them if we can pick up the second early in the half.
-
Coverage is awful...mine keeps freezing ..missed the f**king goal.
Its only RR making it watchable.
May as well watch it from the phone mast.
Cmon alty!
-
Paid in the end,but the picture is not that good
We need to keep the ball better, the last 10 minutes we kept putting it in touch for no reason.
-
Picture quality on the PC is fine here.
Flynny auditioning for Clive Tyldesley's old job, perhaps?
-
its ok when the sun comes out.
RR is ahead of the live match
-
We’ve looked the better though their direct style & long throws a concern. If we get the next goal it’s a very long way back for them with both teams obviously lacking Match fitness.

pen to us and jj sent off

Get Peers on for Hulme
-
this commentator is very chester bias
-
This ref is the reason why a team playing 3 games will not go up. He seems to be penalising everybody.
-
Bloody hell
-
3:2 ??? Alty seem to have gone to sleep...
-
what the bloody hell are we doing???????
-
taken the best players off.
-
Missing the crowd getting behind the team
-
we neeed dens

we neeed dens
Yes
-
Well thank god for that
-
that wasnt very pretty
-
thank god for that
-
"scraped through" as Brian Flynn says...we will need to play much much better next game..
-
We were absolutely dogsh*t in that second half, absolutely dogsh*t. Where is Dens? We're buggered next week if we play anything like that.
-
Well done boys. I have to say l am really looking forward to hearing from the Chester management duo!!!!
-
Phew. Chester threw everything at us at 3-0 but we got there in the end. We’ll need to step it up at York but we are well capable of winning there as we all know.
Re the coverage the picture was good and good idea to have a commentator from each club but Brian Flynn made Chesters commentator sound a complete amateur, he was incredibly biased and bitter about proceedings.
-
I bet Flynny will have a headache working with that guy! Why do Alty always have to make things so difficult for us? It feels like a loss tbh. Probably because I can see York easily piercing our dreadful back line next week. Presumably James Jones is now not able to participate and where is Dens? We so badly needed his experience today.
We won somehow, but I'm not optimistic. All we can hope for is that York's lack of competitive game time impacts on them as much as it did us today.

TBF Brian is always top quality, Mr Turner was no better than any of us after a couple pre-match ;-). We looked exactly how I thought we would look - pre season in thought and sharpness so not really fair to have a go - we're through, onwards to York.
-
The way I see it, we're through unscathed regarding injuries / suspensions, and we've got 90 minutes in the tank too.
Not sure who was responsible for the criminal backpass that led to their first goal, but it gave them the confidence to go on and give us further problems.
We need to keep our heads better with fussy refs like that - Jordan's picked up a silly booking and what Harrop was playing at when he lashed out, I don't know.
Durrell doing what he does best and putting the ball in the net and not much else - whereas Mooney absolutely worked his socks off on the other side.
Looking forward to next week already - no matter what they thought watching on today, York will still be dreading playing us.
-
The guy from Chester was a disgrace. Did he not realise he was broadcasting to Chester fans and Alty fans? I can understand his annoyance at the penalty/red card but his commentary would have been a bit one-eyed if that was a purely Chester fans stream but for a neutral stream, it was appalling. Flynny showed him the way and demonstrated the patience of a saint.
On the game, I think we just looked way off match fitness/sharpness. Got away with that one.

I think dreadful is a bit harsh tbh - the first one was an individual error and the second one was a cracking cross.
We'd obviously be a bit better with Jones in there, but Toby won some important headers today and next week is our 'free hit' just like today was Chester's.
-

I think that it was Jake Moult.
We did our utmost to throw that one away. Conceded possession far too regularly and gave away some stupid free kicks in dangerous areas.
Hannigan stood out for me.
I look forward avidly to the impending whingefest from the Chester management team.

It was indeed Moult, who I thought was poor today. The referee was a joke. Impressed with Mooney (apart from the missed chance). A lot of improvement needed at York.
-
The great advantage we have for the next game is a competitive game under our belts.
-
Well that made the old bum twitch a little Referee was appalling.Have to say no way what that a
Penalty if that had gone against us I would have been gutted as are the Chester Fans.Work to be
Done this week in training as that was far from convincing however we live to fight another day.
-
Mentality. That was the weakness in the second half. Two quick goals, playing ten, three nil up. There's an approach to that scenario that we failed to grasp. The good news is we survived, we'll learn so much from that second half for the rest of the playoffs.
Well done Alty. Roll on to Bootham Crescent for next 'last ever visit' there.
-
Too many subs for my liking
Jordon really needs to address his indiscipline we shouldn’t be subbing him on the grounds of him being sent off
We lost our potency when Durrell Hulme and Mooney went off
TT kicking was sh*t again
Anyway we’re through so mission accomplished.
Improvement needed for our trip to the foreign land (York)
-
2 poor rusty teams and a poor ref, poor stream that kept freezing but other than that we're through and that's the main thing.
Jake held his hands up for Chester's first goal. We we're far too sloppy giving the ball away easily a lot and that mistake was probably the worst example.
Thought the back line did relatively well overall, Hampson had a decent game.
Hopefully we'll be less rusty next week.
-
We won our first competitive match since March against a decent team. Whether we played well or not, the result is what's important at this stage. PP and the team will take that, they know they can play better and will see what did and didnt work. Let's celebrate a great win. We've got another game to look forward to now!
-
That was the equivalent of a second pre-season friendly (assuming there was a game against Halifax), only it wasn't a friendly, so we had to expect rustiness and mistakes.
This is my take on the penalty. It was a tackle from behind. To clear the ball he had to take the player. Doesn't matter if he played the ball first. Hence the penalty. It was denial of a clear goal scoring opportunity. Hence the sending off.
It's not about what you would like the laws to be, it's about what they are now.
Happy to be shown to be wrong by someone with a betting understanding of the laws than me.

I don't know about disgrace. I thought the commentary was pretty measured till the penalty and I think he could be forgiven for not being able to hide his frustration at what he saw as an unjust decision. Equally, it's not easy to stay rigidly neutral when your side's just pulled it back to 3-2 from 3-0 down with ten men. Flynny was impeccable throughout of course, and probably would have been more measured if it was the other way round but I don't blame the Chester guy for showing a bit of passion. I kind of enjoyed the good natured rivalry - and the insight that came from having fans from both sides doing the commentary. Wish I'd bought the full playoff pass now :D

Gateshead win 6-5 on pens - three saves by James.
-
We dominated the first half, but Chester did come back strongly, especially when they went down to 10 men, as so often happens. In the absence of any closeups, I can't give any informed decision on the penalty (I have been watching Belarusian football over this lockdown, and the camerawork when I switched to see "my" team FK Minsk, after our game finished was vastly better than Sportsradar's efforts, and free), but we maintain our good form and Elliott Durrell keeps up that remarkable record.
I had heard that Shaun Densmore has recently become a father, hence his absence. On to York and hopefully another win in yet another final game at Bootham Crescent.

Will there be Alty TV highlights out later?
We'll have Parky & Sorv's post-match interview later this evening and highlights tomorrow evening (still embargoed!) might be a cheeky bit of footage in the interviews
-
We were very good value for the 3-0.
Second half we sat back. We aren't, unfortunately, a team who can do that.
None of that matters at this stage. A win is a win.
Great to see Elliot Wynne on a team sheet too.
-
We give referees stick more than most. I think we have to accept that today we massively got the rub of it. From ref to 4th they were horrendous.
-
Having watched the video I can see the sending off and penalty were for a push in the back not a trip. I think the chap from Chester will have to accept the decision was correct when he sees it. Just because the referee booked every bookable offence doesn't mean he was a bad ref. I thought he treated both teams the same.
-
History will of course record the result as an Alty win however, I struggle to remember a longer lasting half hour and 7 minutes! At 3 0 up and playing against 10 men it should have been a forgone conclusion but often 10 men rally round. Thank God it didn't go on any longer!
Our BT Broadband signal is strong so nothing froze however the picture wasn't great and we struggled to pick players out. SBL
-
Enjoyed the result
Could have done with a lot more zoom from the camera
-
Other than Durrell, Hampson and Hulme I struggled to pick our players.
I thought Hancock's goal had gone wide.
-

I thought Hancock's goal had gone wide.
We initially thought it had hit the post. But then saw the players celebrating. It actually went under the diving keeper...
-
Not sure why but thought picture quality was poor......it never froze but I struggled to pick out our players
Surprised when we scored first goal.....that it hit the post....only realised when liner made his run
No replay of penalty decision either
-
I identifyed Thompson with ease.
After that struggled
-
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it was Johnston tracking back as last man - how the hell did he end up there?!
-
I enjoyed the commentary and I thought the Chester guy was entertaining - he wore his heart on his sleeve and you cannot blaime him for thar.
Picture quality was ok for me apart from when it froze for a few minutes at the beginning of the 2nd half.
Last half hour performance was worrying

Agree completely. The only reason Johnston got to the ball was because he pushed Mooney who was going down as a result. From the refs point of view behind the play I think the push would have been more visible and even the tackle would have looked like it was from behind more than from the side. From the point he decided it was a foul the sending off was inevitable - obviously it prevented a clear goal scoring opportunity.
It does always seem harsh when a genuine attempt to make a tackle - which I think it probably was - results is a penalty and a sending off. But the ref's not at fault if he interprets the laws strictly. It can ruin the game in terms of entertainment but, despite the way some of them behave, it's not their job to make the game entertaining. All we can ask it is that they are consistent and even-handed.

I don't understand how ANY ref, chasing from directly behind, could have given any decision other than a penalty and a red. It would arguably have been braver of him to do otherwise.
