See their forum for fan reaction. They fear going the same way as Bury. Much as I hate to admit it, I'd be sorry to see our oldest enemies go under. We have no traditional rivals left if they go - I'd rather move past them on merit over a longer period than get above them sooner because they've folded.

They’re not our oldest adversaries; Vics have that dubious honour. As for feeling any regret that their demise is likely to come as a result of boardroom mismanagement, rather than on-field matters, well, I couldn’t care less. The last time I visited their ground, a section of their support spent the whole match screaming abuse at the Alty contingent from behind an EDL banner and at the final whistle, they set about attacking anyone they could identify as the oppo. If they have to fold, so be it.

Rivalries aside, it's usually a pretty unpleasant away day and we seem to go through this 'cap in hand' cycle with them every 12 months or so.
Can we create a proper rivalry with Chester? It would be great because we always beat them :)

Chester fans are or a minority of them are as bad as macc

I would be sad to see Macc fold if that happens, but i do not like them, there is a difference.I would give a shout for them though if they were involved in a giant killing run.I have always enjoyed our away days at macc and apart from one time have always felt welcome there, mind you i am going back to the 60/70s

I am sorry for the real fans of Macclesfield Town FC, but I'm afraid you reap what you sow and this has been coming for ages.

They'll get bailed out and carry on as per. Same thing will happen in December etc.

Given their record against us, I think they dislike us more than the other way round (and plenty of their scrotes can unfortunately figure out how to get on a direct train).

So what is new here? They did this several times last season and there's been financial smoke and mirrors from that club for years.
It's tedious more than anything.
