That’s about a million times better to look at than the list of sides we had to play this season.
-
Hereford v Kings Lynn,a good old Northern fixture that ;D
-
Think Hereford might go south if kings lynn go up
-
Totally forgot the playoff winners from NPL. Might see Hereford and or Brackley going south should Brackley not go up. Kings Lynn is Toss up its miles from anywhere. Weymouth travelled further to kings Lynn last night than they would have done if they were playing at altrincham

Even though Kings Lynn is a direct train from London looking at the map they are much further north than Brackley and indeed not that far from Boston so I’d say logically that they would come North.
-
Really it all hangs on Brackley.
-
King's Lynn would be a certainty for the North - it certainly can't be any worse than Lowestoft from a couple of years ago.
Unfortunately the league has had a knack of drawing a straight line rather than using common sense. Unfortunately that means we'd lose Hereford before we lose Brackley.

On a straight line basis, Hereford is just north of Brackley.
-
Sorry yes you're right, I think I was thinking of Leamington actually.
Would be good if we kept Hereford and lost Brackley and Leamington (from a club point of view, although the latter isn't the worst place to visit)
-
Would love to tick Hereford off.

Would love to tick Hereford off.
Conversely, I missed leamington last year so I would love to go here. Edgar street is a big old ground at Hereford and quite quirky. Went there for a 0-0 draw in 05 in a game that Graham Heathcote said was “the only one I’ve ever set out to be intentionally negative in”. I’ve got a friend that’s a Hereford fan, so I’d be happy with either.
-
Brackley is like being back in the Evostick. Poor crowds, no decent pubs and no station. Hereford and Leamington would both be cracking days out.

Totally agree. Even though the ground is out of town Lem is always a good day out and an easy train. Never been to Hereford but would love to notch it & Kings Lynn a new ground and day out for everyone. In conclusion can Brackley just bugger off.
-
Ashton beat Grantham 2-0 so another local game. Would be quite annoying if we get them over the Christmas period though but I presume they'll play Curzon.
-
Very happy for Ashton. Good club.
-
Well deserved win against a Grantham side who were some way below their best. Sam Sheridan looked good again, but they'll need to beef things up a bit for the higher division.
-
Fair enough - finished 2nd
Another local game
-
Well done Ashton
-
Well done to them. Best two teams over the season went up.

I hope Brackley go up

And I think two from
Harrogate/Brackley/Hereford/Kings Lynn, thats assuming the border line is drawn from the Avon to the wash like it used to be
-
I reckon basically it's Harrogate or Brackley (please, not them !), and Kings Lynn if they win, Hereford if they don't.
-
Fingers crossed for Kings Lynn today. One of my oldest mates is from there and we’ve been waiting for Lynn to play Alty for 20 years now.
On a related note I am off to see the Isthmian Premier PO final today-Dulwich vs Hendon being played at Tooting and Mitcham. Dulwichs 3rd play off final in 3 seasons to try and get into National South. Having finished 2nd to the Billericay circus and their £££ and having been locked out of their Champion Hill stadium mid season due to the US property company who own the land throwing their toys out of the pram after their redevelopment proposals were blocked by the local authority, there would be a sense of justice if Dulwich go up today.

I've followed the Dulwich saga with great interest. Good luck to them today, they deserve to succeed.

The FA tend to work on straight lines across the country west to east. If Lynn beat Slough they will almost certainly be placed in the North - Lynn is north of Telford & only marginally south of Stafford. As Lynn came 2nd in their league I would like to see them gain their just reward, as Ashton did, & it would also be a new ground to visit & an excuse for me to spend some time in a part of Norfolk I don't know.

Mike,
If we do end up in the same division as King's Lynn, would that engender Alty's first competitive fixture in Norfolk?

In a word - yes!
-
Kings Lynn v Slough has been delayed due to crowd congestion
-
Strange people in Kings Lynn they make nearby Boston folk look civilised. North Norfolk however is gorgeous, maswivel empty beaches and great pubs. A nailed on weekender.
-
Kings Lynn 1-0 Slough, mystery to me Norfolk, I’ve been to Bosnia, but never to Norfolk
-
1-1
-
Kings Lynn 1-2 Slough right at the death
-
Kings Lynn 1-2 Slough right at the death
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I assume Slough's promotion means we'll get Hereford but also unfortunately keep Brackley too?
In fact, a King's Lynn win would probably have meant we'd get them, Hereford AND lose Brackley, which would have been great.
-
Southport have reappointed Liam Watson as manager.
Neck ache awaits
-
Yes it looks like we will definitely get Hereford and also whoever loses the conference north playoff, I wouldn’t have a Harrogate win as a foregone conclusion though
-
This is usually correct with its forecasts

Great day yesterday as Dulwich won a nervy tight play off final on pens, with the final kick of the shoot out. 3300 there too, congrats to them.

Hope its Hereford its a home game for me

Who doesn't like a bit of bully?
-
Great-it will be a notch for me and I suspect many others. A pain in the arse to get to mind from Alty or London.

It's a no-notch, but it's been a long time.
-
Not as big a pain as it will be for the Hereford players. Some long road trips for them.

Nearly 280 miles to Blyth.....and then back again. Sod's Law dictates it will end up being played on a Tuesday night.

Day out on the cider!

Ironically, my boss at work who supports Hereford, lives in Chester and works in Stockport, is hoping the games at Moss Lane and Edgeley Park do end up on a Tuesday night. I expect he is in a small minority, though.

Not really - trains 9.30 or 10.30 ex Piccadilly arrive Hereford 11.36 or 12.36, return trains 17.58 or 19.00 ex Hereford. Nice town; not been there for ages - looking forward to it. Hope the new regime is more accommodating to visiting supporters than the old one was, though.

Oh ok-I stand corrected. It was based on some initial research that suggested it was quicker to go to Newport and change there for Hereford than get the 3hrs + direct train from London. Frankly outrageous that’s it quicker to get somewhere on the train from Alty than it is London. Northern Powrhouse at it again.
-
Ashton coming up was the best possible outcome for me.
Both Ashton clubs, Stockport and FCUM all 20 minute drives
-
Harrogate beating Brackley 3-0.
-
Could happily have done without Brackley next season.
-

Very handy for me, straight down the A49 to Edgar Street don't think the grounds changed much.,
I play golf with a Hereford fan so plenty of piss taking available..

Good

Harrogate beating Brackley 3-0.
A very good final, Harrogate seem to have managed the transition to full-time football effectively & it will be interesting to see how well they handle the step up to the National League.
Brackley were very good for an hour but failed to take some excellent chances & were ultimately well beaten.
3,000 sell out & it was difficult to see how you would get any more in......Wetherby Road is a very tidy set up these days, but it is a very compact stadium.
-
I remember Harrogate having the oddest toilet I've ever seen.
It was one room in which there were some urinals on the right and one conventional toilet in the corner, there were no divides between them.
Lord knows what you were meant the do if you needed a poo.

Yes I remember that too-really really weird. Also known as the day of our drunkest ever away support I can recall in the last 10 years. Outstanding stuff. They were due to go up in fairness so well done to them.

I seem to have erased that from my memory (maybe I was drunk?), but my favourite toilets are at Ashton United, where you don't miss seeing any of the action on the pitch, provided you are over 5' 6" or so.
Harrogate Town have been well funded for a few years now, so, while their promotion may have been due, they have paid out for it, and I am pretty sure Simon Weaver would have gone long ago if he wasn't the owner's son. Strange to think of them being in a higher division than York City.

"Strange" is not the word that York City fans will be using.
