Thanks for all your help Geoff. Without your steadying influence, this club would have gone under a long time ago. Good luck to both yourself and your family in the future.
I did mention this about a week ago in another thread as his son told me but as usual nobody beleived me :P

I think you were ignored because no one wanted to believe it !
Once when I got over excited and screamed for my money back at v Dagenham and Redbridge, GG had a word in my ear. His words were as follows:- 'Graham Heathcote is doing his best. If he goes then I go.' From where I sit I hope this is not a self fulfilling prophecy.
I agree, can't see him staying much longer if Goodwin has backed out.
To be honest, this is no real surprise at all, GG was going a year or so ago for the same reasons, and I know the board have been looking for some time now for new blood, and money. GR is a very capable man and rushing into EGM's is a total over-reaction. In terms of how the club runs this doesnt change much day to day.
I for one am just pleased that GG extended his stay with us and continued his great work. The club is still debt free, still well run and others will come in and follow Geoff's great work I'm sure,....all we need is 3 points at Eastbourne ;D
Geoff Goodwin saved this club. Geoff Goodwin is a true hero to Alty FC.And I trust our positive Karma code will remain as a Goodwin in tribute !

Geoff Goodwin saved this club from financial oblivion (with the help of the rest of the board). His hardline approach to not spending what we didnt have was unheard of at Altrincham or in football in general. I don't think there was a massive queue to take over at the time. He allowed us to still have a club to be moaning about today. He was always a reluctant chairman but stuck it out for 8 years.
Anyone who has posted in this thread and not had the courtesy to say thank you should be ashamed in my opninion.
Thank you for all you have done and all the best for the future.

I hope Geoff can be persuaded to attend either the Barrow or Grimsby game so that everyone can give him the send-off he deserves?!!
Thank you for all you have done for Altrincham FC! All the best to you and your family in the future. You will be very much missed. Here, Here. I'll most certainly second that. Good luck in future projects and to your son with his Karting. A big, Big thanks Geoff.
I would just like to say thank you for all your lovely comments to your (ex) Chairman, my husband , Geoff Goodwin. Geoff is very touched by your kind words, and has even shed a tear, not something he does often! We will definately not be strangers to the club, and look foward to standing with you all very soon. The club is in good hands with the current board, led by Grahame Rowley. Thank you again from Suzanne Goodwin x

I don't think anything would surprise me any more... either way, let's hope it's a pleasant surprise (Russian billionaire etc.)

I must admit, with Geoff's sense of decency, I can't see him not having something lined up.
I've just spoken to Geoff in Sale and the guy in genuinely moved by the response to his resignation.
I'll keep the rest of the conversation confidential, suffice to say that I anticipate developments the outfall from which, if it comes to light, may surprise some people who post on here
