Altrincham FC First Team / Been to the Butchers Arms today
« on: September 23, 2007, 09:52:24 PM »
My nieces christening, and the reception was at the social in the club.....bump into Dave Pace on other side of the bar.Needless to say,I really rubbed it in!!! For all the whinging in the NLP today, he seems pretty confident they will get a result against Burton. He conceded we were the better side and deserved the points.Blimey,he must really have got his act sorted now he reliases he can't go into oppositions bars like Oxford and say he'll get a gun out.

Altrincham FC First Team / Thoughts
« on: April 29, 2007, 11:42:05 AM »
Having now slept on it, and it sinking in a bit now,I don't feel as despondant as I should be if my team gets relegated.

As I had mates texting me at 5 saying 'haha, your down', I just replied back to them saying 'This is the Conference. You don't get relegated until June.' Who knows what will happen over the coming weeks. It's not great to stay up on a technicallity, but something I'd accept.

Then the thought of how far we as a club have moved forward over the last 4 years. If only half of those who turned up yesterday returned for the 1st game next season against Leigh,we'll get a 900 gate.A win and we build it back up. Perhaps since we've taken so many steps forward recently, we have to move a step back before we progress further.

So gutted, but not downbeat. Keep most of this side, with a few good signings, and we should (note, not will) be aiming for the play-offs

Also, just looked at the BBC report for yesterday.Did they actually watch the game.

Altrincham meekly surrendered!!!

Why must we do everything the hard way!!! I think the infamous (for me anyway) Frickley game in 2003 was the last time we could relax on the last day of the season.Never a dull momment though.

Who's gonna press refresh every 2 seconds on Tuesday night ::)

Altrincham FC First Team / Permertations
« on: April 15, 2007, 07:49:01 PM »
Can this be moved up to the top,as I'm sure many people will look at this over the next week

BEST CASE SCENARIO

Tuesday - Halifax and Stafford lose
Saturday - We win,Tamworth down.2 of Southport,Stafford and Cambridge lose, mathematically safe.A draw for both Stafford and Cambridge will make it only goal difference allowing them to overtake us.Tables are based on assumption Halifax and FGR draw,Grays win vs Crawley and all win/defeats are 1-0

Table -  ALTY 53 -11 (missed other teams off just for simplicity purposes)
             Halifax 50 -7
             Cambridge 49/50 -11
             ----------------------------
             Stafford 49/50 -22
             Southport 47 -9
             Tamworth 45
             St Albans 37

WORST CASE SCENARIO

Tuesday - Halifax and Stafford win, table will look like this going into Saturday
Saturday - Tamworth win, other rivals win. I don't want to put the table up, but it would need us to rely on other results and a win against Aldershot

Table - Cambridge 52 -10
            Stafford 52 -19
            Crawley 51 2
            FGR 51 -9
            Grays 51 0
           -------------------
           Southport 50 -7
           ALTY 50 -13
           Tamworth 48 -17
           St Albans 37

OTHER SCENARIOS

Tuesday - Halifax win,Stafford lose
Saturday - Alty Tamworth draw.A point for Cambridge or Stafford send Tamworth down. A Southport win would take them above us on on GD(if we lose). If Grays fail to win, bottom 4 would be St Albans,Tamworth, Grays, Stafford.Equal/better Staffords result to stay up.

Table - ALTY 51 -12
            Southport 50 -7
            Cambridge 50 -11
           ---------------------------
            Stafford 50 -21
            Grays 48/49 -2
            Tamworth 46
            St Albans 37

Any others that might be of interest, let me know and I'll edit.

Altrincham FC First Team / Craney/Car park money
« on: April 09, 2007, 10:31:51 PM »
Taken from Grahame and Terry Rowleys programme notes

"Although we have recieved the Ian Craney transfer money in full now and we await the car park development to commence,we should not allow this to distract us from our other fundraising events. The Craney/Car park monies are a one off and must be spent wisely as it is doubtful we will ever see those sums comings into the club again in the near future.Serious discussions must take place to ensure best use of them so please don't expect announcements imminently."

Altrincham FC First Team / Westley leaves/sacked by Rushden
« on: February 24, 2007, 08:45:33 PM »
As much as a C U Next Tuesday he is,this has got to be one of the strangest sackings.7 games unbeaten since we beat them, nothing that suspects he has fell out with the board, yet the 'official' statement claims its due to recent performances. Can only see it being either

a. Personal reasons or
b. Tactics (apparently he puts Dino ahead of Tomlin)

Both seem bizarre.Could Rushden be going back into crisis/freefall???

Altrincham FC First Team / Proper Thread - 1st Away Game
« on: February 14, 2007, 02:07:46 PM »
A lot of us can remember our 1st game at Moss Lane, but I just got thinking last night about my 1st away game.Droylsden October 2000 (day after the last game at Wembley).2-1 defeat,Hawsey getting our goal.Only reason I got there was because my brother was going to his girlfriends place. From then on I started going away to just the local games (Hyde,Stalybridge etc) until 2002/03,where I started going nearly all the time, missing only the odd Tuesday night trip.

What was your 1st away game, surely you can't get any worse than mine ::)

Altrincham FC First Team / Luck has to change soon
« on: February 10, 2007, 07:35:17 PM »
For the 3rd game on the trot,we hit the inside of the post and it didn't go in.As the cliche goes, thats what happens when your down at the bottom.

I'm not annoyed we lost,I'm not annoyed it was 4-0.What has really annoyed me was how we conceded the first 2 goals. The 1st one was the worst half-hearted offside appeal I have ever seen, while for the 2nd we had 3 or 4 chances to get rid of it.

I will be travelling to Crawley, and still believe we will get out of it.1 goal will lift the heads of all the strikers and will put away the chances they're getting.

I shouldn't be surprised,it was typical Alty to ruin my birthday weekend!!

Altrincham FC First Team / FA don't learn their lesson shocker!!
« on: February 07, 2007, 10:12:49 PM »
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_conf/6339377.stm

Why did they not change the rule after last seasons fiasco.I know every club is aware of it now because of us,but surely as was stated at the time,it would mean the FA compliance department would have to be made 10 times bigger to cope with all transfer queries.

And just to show how crap the FA is,who apparently want a full time manager for the Under 21's,it's come out that Bryan Robson contacted them about taking on the role!!!Add to that shambles of a performance I watched tonight (though Mclaren shouldn't go after just 1/2 a dozen games),and it makes you wonder whether even the tea lady at Soho Square is proud to work for the FA.

Altrincham FC First Team / Reasons to stay positive
« on: February 04, 2007, 04:29:07 PM »
Though yesterday was the hardest defeat to take in this season,I still think we will be ok.

1. Players, particular Colin Little, are low on confidence.Just one moment can change it all.

2. Yesterday was only our 2nd defeat to teams around us,which will ultimately decide our fate

3. This is Alty, you never expect it to be done the easy way

4. At the moment, anyone in the bottom half of the table could go down. All it takes is a couple of good results and your 13th.You have your generally poor sides (Southport,Tamworth) and sides who are on a big slide (Stafford,Grays)

5.There are still 16 games to go,and comparing our run in to over teams, its not as bad as I feared at the start of the season.

Get behind them until April 28th,they need our support

Altrincham FC First Team / Next 5 games
« on: January 21, 2007, 09:45:38 PM »
Well after yesterday, this is how I think we'll go on

Kiddy WIN (they are on a good run,but we can beat anyone at home, and I feel we will win)
Southport DRAW (similar to last season,a game neither side can afford to lose)
York DRAW (big games usually bring big performances.Donaldson may also be out through suspension,so we may even nick a win)
Northwich WIN (it would be typical Alty to win away for a game like this)
Crawley LOSE (and it would be typical Alty to get peoples confidence up)

8 out of 15,I would take that.Thoughts?
