When I lived in Kendal I didn't vote for him!

But well said that man! That's the most intelligent thing I've heard a Lib Dem say - and I've lived with one for 6 years!

Come on the Alty MP - let's hear you speaking up for local and non-league footy please.

You've more chance of a sensible quote from Jim Rushe than from Graham Brady.

Has Mr Brady ever been to ML? Should get an invite - and bring a few colleagues with him. A certain Mr Osbourne is in a neighbouring constituency!

Isn't that the point of being invited to something?

More generally who on earth would switch football allegiance on the basis of what their local MP says!?

I get what you're saying but, many if not most people, when invited to an event like a football match, will buy a raffle ticket or make some form of contribution even if it's only a token gesture

Fair enough, that would be the polite thing to do.

Brady the chinless wonder prefers rugger

I'm sure most MPs prefer rugby, especially all the southern Oxbridge educated labour MPs parachuted into safe northern seats, they probably aren't even aware their constituency has a football club having rarely been there!

No they don't, you watch how many freeloaders pitch up at moss lane if we get a replay against burton, many with a long standing association and claiming allegiance to the club

Brady the chinless wonder prefers rugger

Gave up a prominent role on the opposition bench to be free to speak his mind over the grammar school row.  Whatever political beliefs you have, the fella in his eyes put his constituents first rather than his own career.

Back to football....

Although in fairness, Brady was never destined for a big ministerial post anyway. You could argue that becoming chairman of the 1922 Committee is a move up (of sorts) in his career.

I agree with Farron's general sentiment, FWIW.

Graham Brady could always have bought a Golden Goal ticket at Moss Lane and then claimed the outlay back via his expenses, just like he did for that £10 milk frother a few years ago.

What's a milk frother?  Sounds like a spoon...

yes it does seem strange maybe he has had a bump on the head or his expenses have been cut and he can't afford to go to premiership football

thank f**k we've got a tory toff and not a looney left MP who would probably want us to start a disabled lesbian inclusive fan club and give us massive funding out of taxpayers money which causes the country to go bankrupt so public servants lose their jobs....that would be an outrage....live and let I say, Mr Brady was perfectly gracious and enthusiastic about alty the one time I've met him at the STAR launch.....and his resignation over the grammar school thing was an honourable gesture.

SO.... you live in West London, you are a Chelsea fan, your parents are Chelsea fans, you've been following the club all your life, but now because it's a bit pricey you decide to switch clubs and start following Hayes & Yeading?

Do me a favour, club allegiances are much deeper than that. It's nice to go to your local club for the odd games, but I think the majority of fans of big clubs would struggle to get into non-league, hence why the majority of them who can't afford to go just watch their team live, just watch the game on TV instead.

This being the guy who refused to pay for a raffle ticket and would only become a member so long as it was free!!

Yes. Because in China they don't get the chance, and we do.  Our govt. may be crap (ok it is crap) but the Chinese gov.t is crap with nobody having a say.

So I vote.  I'll even be voting on the 15th for the police wotsit.

If folk wish to get their voting slip and draw a picture on it or scrawl on it - that's good enough for me.  That's your opinion expressed and it is as valid as anybody else's.

To clarify my observation is in no way political.

I have no doubt that (almost) all politicians are the same in this respect. I just find all the sycophancy and fawning over anyone who has never experienced the realiities of life yet seems to think that their position as an elected representative entitles them to get stuff for nowt whilst passing judgement on the populace and dictating policies which will affect the electorate yet have no effect on their cushy existence simply  offensive

I think that's right ATS, regardless of the party the snouts go into the trough.  If this were a political forum I'd take it further but in the meantime
