Saturday's Alty Trivia Question
« on: January 26, 2008, 12:33:16 AM »

As there's lots of talk about a Non-League team playing at Anfield this afternoon, here's a vaguely related question...

Who were Alty's next opponents after the 1981 FA Cup Third Round tie against Liverpool?

(Supplementary questions to follow once this one has been answered correctly).

John King's description of a crunching tackle on Ossie Ardiles in the FA Cup Third Round tie at White Hart Lane: 10th January 1979.

Yeovil. Lost at home in front of about 860. And that's from memory.

Caernarvon away (CSC) at Ellesmere Port. Won 1-0. Jesus wept.

Indeed, Cammell Laird at Moss Lane in the Cheshire Senior Cup on Monday, 5th January 1981.

A 2-2 draw in front of a crowd of 1,019 with Jeff Johnson scoring both of Alty's goals.

Hardly a 'weakened' Alty side though:

Connaughton; Crossley; Davison; Allan; Owens; Heathcote (G); Barrow; Whitbread; Johnson; Rogers; Howard. Sub: Tobin.

Right, supplementary questions:

(1) What happened in the replay?

(2) What was unusual about the replay?
