Title: Rochdale match thread
Post by: Sarf London Alty on January 22, 2024, 09:37:46 AM
A Greater Manchester ‘derby’ in front of the TV cameras then & a chance to put right one of our worst displays of the season at Spotland. Which I’m sure Parky will be reminding the players of.

Assume no major changes from the squad at Chesterfield, wonder if James Jones & Donowa are any nearer fitness but other than that possibly same starting XI. Maybe Amaluzor for Mooney the one you might debate. And, of course, if the weekend off has given Ross the chance to regain full fitness or whether Gould will be back in. Fingers crossed.

Rochdale have a reasonable away record with 5 wins, albeit all against bottom half sides. Both sides like to play football so should make for a good game, though the rain forecast all of tomorrow daytime so will be a heavy pitch. With our strong home record I’d back us every time though so I reckon a 3-1 home win. Crowd intriguing with iffy weather & it being on the telly. I reckon a shade below 2k with about 500 of them.

Heavy rain forecast most of the afternoon - is there a chance this one falls foul of the weather too? What safeguards do TNT put in place (if any) to make surr the game goes ahead?

Rochdale have lost some key personnel since we last played them - loanees Moulden and Hayes have left, and Nevett, Clayton and Uchegbulam have all suffered long term injuries.

They should, however, have Tyrese Sinclair this time - and we all know how dangerous he can be.

Yeah, the pitch & the forecast no doubt a big concern. Plus side is it’s over 2 weeks since we last had a home match & I believe we’ve borrowed some heat lamps off Stoke for the especially dodgy patch in front of the main stand. The forecast tomorrow well known & we’ve had time to prepare plus it should stop at least 3-3.5 hrs before KO so gives us some time to work on it.

The strong winds should prove to be beneficial in drying the surface hopefully.

Any kind of win will do for me.
A really convincing, impressive win on TV would be great.

As part of the pitch crew, Stoke haven’t lent us any lamps.
Who told you they have ?

Met office forecast heavy rain until 3pm then light rain to follow
If it goes ahead it'll be heavy going. At least Rochdale is only local so perhaps late pitch inspection?

How much pressure is TNT likely to exert on the situation?

I would imagine officially all parties would say none whatsoever. However, back in the real world TNT would be miffed should they get set up and then find it's called off.

No prizes for predicting the outcome.

Chance of a Saturday game (better income even with the BT money?) and Ethan Ross hopefully playing.

A win for us.

Well it's saved a couple of nightblind season ticket holding pensioners a breezy and dangerous trip up and down the M56! 😂

Hallowed mud, excellent, sad.

If that's the case it's probably even more testament to larger issue at play.
