Altrincham FC First Team / Altrincham has a World Champion
« on: November 03, 2014, 06:17:53 PM »
Further to the article on the main site recently about John McManus, Assistant Manager of Altrincham Ladies I am very, very proud to announce that John is now the WORLD CHAMPION 2014 in Traditional Weapons.

Very sad news today of a young girl (16 years of age I believe) who collapsed and died playing football for Cadley FC.

I know this isn't Altrincham but I feel sure that you will join with the many clubs and individuals across football expressing their condolences on such a sad event.

Altrincham FC First Team / Miserable Sod Alert
« on: September 30, 2014, 11:00:04 PM »
Firstly I am over the moon with the result.

I'm not going to ask where Jamie at al are at present after their diatrobes on Saturday as that would be churlish. I will compliment Ollie on his post tonight too.

Onto the reason for my moan.

Another big game - another flare and then either it's thrown back on or a second one is thrown on.

These events are reported to the League, The FA and the Licensing Authorities and can have very significant implications.

I don't know but I would not be surprised if a fine were to be levied against the Club by the League. Potentially of more concern over the piece could be the possibility of additional requirements upon the Club from Trafford. They can put all manner of conditions on the licence which could cost the Club significant amounts.

Flares ARE illegal so, if you know who brought it in, at least tell them not to ever do it again please as that sort of thing is NOT welcome at Moss Lane

Miserable Tw@t rant over

Altrincham FC First Team / We need to be cuter
« on: September 13, 2014, 06:42:10 PM »
Before I go any further I am NOT defending the Referee over the third Eastleigh goal I am however going to try to explain and the thread title is a bit of a clue.

When the free kick was awarded Eastleigh took it very quickly (and from the wrong place). They played it sideways - this may not seem relevant but it is.

Had the ball been launched into the box I will guarantee that he would have taken it back, probably to the approximate blade of grass where it should have been. BUT because it went sideways having been taken quickly there is a reluctance to bring it back, the argument (flawed I know) being that not knocking it forward allows the defending team time to adjust and to bring it back would be seen as "nitpicking" and "petty"

Whilst we are on the subject of not being cute enough Kyle was on the sharp end of an elbow. Most of our players looked at it as if to say "oh look Kyle's holding his throat" and then politely enquired whether the Referee had seen it / was going to do something.

Had roles been reversed I will almost guarantee that the Ref would have been surrounded by between 6 and 8 Eastleigh players Demanding action.

As I say we need to get cuter, unpleasant as the idea may be

Altrincham FC First Team / Outstanding!
« on: August 10, 2014, 06:14:26 PM »
We have now played one (yes ONE) game at a higher level than we have played at for three seasons and players who we, on the whole rated are not good enough according to some correspondents.

Also the Manager who was so (almost universally) lauded on here for leading us to promotion and for his pre season acquisitions is now renamed Sinnob? by DIM (possibly at times the most apposite acronym ever invented?)

How dare he have the temerity to allow a guy to go and train for his paid employment. We are a part time team and players will miss games and training sessions because of work.

I didn't go yesterday, instead watching the Reserves but I have spoken to some people who did and their perception is that we didn't actually play that badly but we did get caught out defensively due to the difference in quality between Conference North and Conference National. That can and I suspect will be resolved by quickening up the mental processes which will in turn speed up the physical reactions.

Can we wait a while please before we write off team, management and season?

Altrincham FC First Team / More Local Business Involvement
« on: July 13, 2014, 11:58:11 PM »
As you will be able to see on the Official Site the Ladies Team have secured a two year deal with Randalls, the Jewellers on George Street to sponsor the Ladies Training Kit. We would like, in addition to thanking Randalls themselves, to thank Peter Foster for putting us in touch with each other.

This Sponsorship is in addition to that offered by Club Catering Manager Richie Bentley which was also recently announced on the Club Website and the continuing support offered by The Blue Dog Bar and Grill on Ashley Road.

Please, if you are able, support these businesses as they have supported us

Hi Jim

I've just taken a phone call from Wilmslow Train Station

Your Season Ticket is there so, if you can go pick it up in the next day or so they will delay sending it to Lost Property

There is a quote from Kevin in here which sums Mads up perfectly as a footballer "He'd tackle his Nan" That's the sort of commitment he always showed and, having had the privilege to speak to him on Tuesday continues to show

We sometimes don't like other Clubs but hats off to Morecambe, Portsmouth and of course Kevin Ellison for this

Very quick interview type thing with Duncan.

Lee Sinnott and George Heslop mentioned as being important to his development. His first Alty goal also gets a mention

Proves once again what a decent guy Duncan really is

Altrincham FC First Team / Sorry to Labour a Point Here

But two questions have sprung to mind.

If, as alleged, Mr Sinclair recieved threats via a Social Networking Site, did he not report this to the Police as it is a criminal offence to threaten people?

Who runs Colwyn Bay? Is it Mr Sinclair or is it the Club Board??

As an addendum to my first point I see that the alleged threats were reported in todays NLP. Would it be appropriate to ask Mr Sinclair or his Club for either evidence of these threats or a public retraction/apology for this (in my view) spurious allegation
