Great news, i had every faith in a man that played 600 high end league games at centre back would only need to watch a small number of last years games to see how poor we were at the back, infact that 6 minute clip on youtube of darlington at home would have been enough to make this an easy decision...

Although i must add as a footnote my thanks to marc for at least showing some fight and passion and scoring some important goals in the final stages of the season

I agree that since the start of the year Joseph had somewhat improved. having said that that were a lot of performance pre christmas that didnt show him in a good light.

Personally I wont lose much sleep if he does move on,  What we dont want is to show up in Jul at the first friendly and see most of the Old faces that were about at the end of the last season.

Yes keep a few of the old guard by all means.. but always remember where we ended up come the 23rd April 11..

I am looking forward to some new fresh, keen faces for next season, supplemented with a few stalwarts from last season

Shipping 87 goals and ending up with a -40 goal difference meant a major rebuild job at the back was the bare minimum we needed regardless of what league we were in and whoever was in charge.

Onwards and upwards.

This is bad news, IMO

Marc - with the exception of tamworth, and another game, has been greatly improved since christmas - i think we should be looking to keep him

The status could mean a, he doesnt like Lee, b, has met lee and doesnt like his plans c, doesnt like the money offed, or d, lee doesnt think he's good enough/worth the money and thinks we can replace him.

HOWEVER - he's scored more goals than twiss, and infact provides a greater threat from attacking plays than williams - he also has better distribution

We want a set of players who will fight for the shirt (and manager) I am sure Lee will have a few names in mind.. If at the end of the day we see 11 strangers trot out for the first friendly in July then so be it...

Is that from his facebook?

I'll just keep reminding myself how I felt at the end of the Eastbourne game...and there is not many I would have missed to be honest.

Exactly.. add to that the Blythe, Fleetwood, FGR and far too many other games to that list and it is obvious we had major problems.

Thanks for the service Marc, but as others have indicated, we certainly need to make changes at the back. Too many times last season, our centre halves in particular cost us points. Lee obviously has his own ideas, thank God. As for Dale, that's a bit of a shame, but again I suppose Lee has thrown everything on trying to keep Damien.

The one thing you can say for Joseph is that at least he seemed to care. He took some merciless stick on here for dreadful performances, of which I'm sure he was well aware, but pulled things back and at least had a reasonable second half of the season after a shambolic start. 'm not bothered about him leaving but have no ill feelings towards him at all.

I'd be a little worried about releasing Dale. We all have our favourite players and whilst I am quite happy to accept his Conference goal-record leaves a lot to be desired, Dale's all-round play is undoubtedly good and he actually has a good scoring record at Conference North level. I'd have thought he'd be one to hang on to if possible.

Still, Sinnott gets paid to make the decisions. We have to give him a chance to assemble his squad then judge at the of the season (and really at the end of two seasons is fairer).

new manager. new team.
last season was most miserable in our history.
time for fortress moss lane again.
ps - most inspiring interview with an alty manager since john king days.
finally got some positive thinking, who's to say that wont rub off on fans and we can still get average gates of 900 plus
why dont we try and take 100 to buxton for the friendly - lets get behind them right from the start and enjoy a new era - no more victim mentality and no more excuses.
i'd settle for
1. top 8 next year but good signs we're building new team
2.  promotion
3   a side to be proud of in conference national again.

I think this is exactly right. It may well be that a number of last season's players think - rightly or wrongly - that they will get better offers elsewhere. They may well be disappointed when they get into the real world rather than that of their imaginations. Equally, the new broom may well have come to some early conclusions. At all events we have to trust in the new boss and his judgment.

Where has this news about Dale come from?

Thanks for your commitment Marc. I was one of the ones who almightily slagged you off after Curzon away, however the change after that was noticeable and at least you did seem to care about the results. Won't forget the gesture at the end of the Eastbourne game. The best of luck to you in the future.

New managers always want to put thier own stamp on a team.Dont shed a tear for those that go.Its football, and we mustnt look beyond the fact that we were in large parts last season,a shambles.I realise some of the younger fans might not have seen some of our better sides over the years, but rest assured, ken mckenna had more bottle, heart, fight and drive then the vast majority of that lot last season put together. Its all well and good caring for 45 mins against eastbourne, but the spark wasnt there all season

He was the most consistant defender after Christmas, and scored some vital goals.
Wish him all the best for the future, and many thanks for tring till the very end of last season, not like some.

as some one who cant get to games and lives on news and views off here.
I have concluded based on the vast amount of spineless, gutless, sh*te, rubbish etc type comments i read that the new broom is best sweeping clean.
lets hope that mr sinnott can instil pride and passion in players which when you consider how close to survival we were with last years squad should make all the difference . i honestly believe that a team that will walk through walls for the manager/ club/ supporters  is three steps ahead at this level many of the teams are of equal standard but it is the passion that that will carry an average team through.
Tell the players they are playing for the greatest non league team ever make them feel part of taking this club on to the next bit of history making, at best they are going to be league 1 standard journeymaen if they get the breaks, playing for alty they can make a mark and become legends .

make one of the walls in the bar a shrine to what we have acheived in the past and make them believe they have a chance to get their picture on that wall .

get out there and play with pride for those stripes, go that extra 10% and become a legend

think i'll have another rum

My memorable marc joseph moment was when i observed during one the match threads that he has one cock up in each game...to which jennifers Dad had a field day.

I admnired his guts at sticking to the task and becoming an improved player....not sure he is ideal for hustle and bustle of BSN so if he goes he goes with no hard feelings from me and best wishes...

I like Dale Johnson as a player and we're gonna need two who can score 20 plus in the BSN but if the new gaffer brings in an even better player then we move on...

I totally agree about how good Marc became as the season progressed, I would be surprised if Lee can find a better player for the same money, if he does I will be impressed. My biggest worry about the new managerial situation is how difficult it must be for Lee when he knows little about the existing players abilities, and lets be clear, a lot of players do need replacing,...but we did have some very good players too, and Marc was one of them.

We will all have opinions about who we would like to keep, but at the end of the day, the reality is that Lee will decide, right or wrong, thats his job, and we will just have to hope he gets it right.

If he does, then no complaints. But when season the starts, who would bet against comments from fans like, wish we still had,... Marc for example,...when his replacement plays crap :o

I don't care what names are on the back of the shirts, I only care about the badge on the front and the 11 players who are wearing it.

play for yourself and you play for the opposition
play for the team and you play for yourself.

I don't think there will be any names on the backs of the shirts next season, don't they operate on the good old 1 to 11 numbering system in the BSN ?

There usually is some corrolation to the players wearing the shirt and the names on the backs, or am i missing something? See the point though

All the best to Marc Joseph, maybe he was a bit of a burden on the wage budget, I don't know, but a quality end to the season from him- never forget that goal at Grimsby

I take it that you missed the home game against Cambridge United in early April then - particularly their first goal?

Yes, Joseph improved after Christmas.....but I was never confident that he was only seconds away from committing a defensive howler.

He was hardly up to the standard of a Paul Cuddy (or even a Mark McGregor) now, was he...?

I won't be distraught if, indeed, he has departed.

Too many of last season's squad let the club down very badly and remain tainted, in my eyes.

Given he's based in Fylde, perhaps Mark Joseph's hoping Fleetwood will offer him a gig in place of one of those superannuated lumbering fat bastards in the heart of their defence (AFCW's fans are probably still doubled up with laughter - even if Tonyb hasn't seen the funny side)  ;D
