AARON Burns’ brilliant blast accounted for Vics’ first goal of the summer.
His free kick, direct from 25 yards, was still rising when it bulged Russell Saunders’ net to cancel out Chris Senior’s early opener.
Alty hit the front when Senior squeezed a measured shot inside the upright after Nat Kerr’s attempted clearance had been deflected into his path.
Vics created the opening period’s best chances, Mark Danks and Mike Connor both firing off target from distance and Jon Newby heading wide from Burns’ centre.
An incident-free second half was punctured by a sending off for Alty triallist Paul McManus following his clumsy, late challenge on Luke Horrocks.
Before that the Robins had fluffed the half’s best chance, Dale Johnson shooting too close to keeper Kyle Clancy after beating Mat Bailey to a loose ball.
At the other end substitute Ross Farran forced Saunders to make a save at full stretch after Bailey had teed him up following a corner.
