I have to be honest I am fuming with this thread

We are now actually started to rationally discuss options to avoid this happening again

The whole winter break debacle was meant to be for teasing purposes only

I am so incensed I am off to start a where is chris senior thread
He's having a winter break  ;D

I still think 3G is the way to go if it gets the go ahead, it can be used every night, and would compliment the new community hall, first team could train on it, the youths and a junior sides could use it one after another all day on a Sunday, the EDS squad could use it, the bar/catering area of the new community hall could be well used all week in that instance

I'm all for 3G pitches. When I lived in the US, I followed local football there, and they all had artificial pitches. Doesn't really do any harm, providing they are well maintained.

Western Mass Pioneers have a 3G pitch, which in a similar situation to what Mr. Cruiskshank suggests, is used all week, all year round by various youth, reserve and community teams, as well as the first team. It makes a lot of money, can tell you that for nothing. An example schedule from one Saturday shows how it can be used.

Schedule of Events
9:00 AM          Western United Pioneers U10 Boys
9:00 AM          Western United Pioneers U11 Girls
10:00 AM        Gremio Lusitano Over 50
1:00 PM          Western United Pioneers U16 Girls
3:00 PM          Presentation and Acknowledgements for Turf Installation
3:15 PM          Western Mass Pioneers (PDL) vs Mass United FC (NPSL)
5:30 PM          Lusitano White v Lusitano Red

How easy/difficult is it to maintain these pitches?

If we divided the pitch into 10,000 squares and sold them for £50 each we could raise half a million for a new pitch. What you would with your square yard of mud?

http://metro.co.uk/2014/01/31/why-maidstone-united-prove-a-strong-3g-signal-is-the-future-of-grassroots-football-4284584/

Quote
.The case was not just compelling, it was overwhelming. The result of the vote was never in doubt, 21 to 11– against. It means, should Maidstone win promotion, they will be forced to play away from the community facility which made their rise possible.

When weighing up the reasons for a no vote it’s easy to start with ignorance, jealousy and self-interest, but there is more to it than that.

Would clubs in the Conference North and South, with no financial means to change to 3G, vote for a surface which could benefit richer clubs at their expense?

Why would ambitious Conference clubs (who held 24 of the 32 votes) vote in favour when artificial pitches are still banned in the Football League?

Unfortunately unless the conference and the football league etc change there rules the 3G pitch conversation is a waste of time.

You are not Allowed to compete on one at this level or higher as stated in the above article. Also the FA Cup would not allow us to play on a surface that is not grass.

The governing bodies need to get together and sort themselves out to allow clubs to change there pitches if they choose too
