You probably didn't see Dave Furnival play?

I was never sure how quick Leo Skeete was, because I don't think I ever actually saw him run!!

I think that was Dave Martindale in the book "Kingdom Come".

Kevin Ellison, fast and could strike a ball with some power. Danny McGoona was fast with his one trick and Keith Russell also was a fast player (before he signed properly)

Tony Hemmings ... nuff said.

Ian Morris was really quick - even though he sort of ran sideways... if you saw him you'd know what I mean. John Vernon was fast and so was that little lad who played a few games in the late 80s /early 90s - I forget his name but he looked about 7 and was probably under 5ft tall.

Darren Royle was very slow as was Colin Chesters. Mick Fagan was too and Tony Kelly just couldn't run but didn't need to... he was a class act for a couple of games.

I think probably  Darren Royle, Tunna, Roger Kenyon or Brian Kilcline have to be the shortlist for slowest.

Other candidates for the slowest:

Paul Williams; Jason Van Blerk; the ponderous Dave Furnival; Ricky Greenough; Steve Phillips; Chris Young; Leo Skeete (Alty signed him years too late...); Martin Hanchard; dear old Bobby Fraser (mind you, he was aged about 73 at the time...) and Brian Flynn when it's his round in the Noel White Suite.

Danny McGoona in full majestic flight is probably the quickest I have seen although I do recall that Phil Derbyshire (ex-Mossley and then Macc after leaving us) was noted for his speed.
The great Paul Showler was blessed with both pace and skill.

Phil,

Outrageous!
That must be libellous.

Tunna was like Teddy Sheringham - deceptively slow in physique but mentally three steps ahead of the rest of the players.....

And he still sprinted quicker than you.
So there.

Dave Furnivall was definitely the slowest player I've seen at Moss Lane, apart from Ernie Taylor - in whose defence it must be said he was practically a geriatric by the time we signed him.

Quick players ? All of those already mentioned, plus Leroy Chambers on a going day (once every three or four games).

Andy Windsor could shift, but not with the ball.
