Craney/Car park money
« on: April 09, 2007, 10:31:51 PM »

Taken from Grahame and Terry Rowleys programme notes

"Although we have recieved the Ian Craney transfer money in full now and we await the car park development to commence,we should not allow this to distract us from our other fundraising events. The Craney/Car park monies are a one off and must be spent wisely as it is doubtful we will ever see those sums comings into the club again in the near future.Serious discussions must take place to ensure best use of them so please don't expect announcements imminently."

Probably for debt and ground improvements?

Hoping that the paying budget will increase for next season with most of the debts gone.

Lights, toilets and the terraces need attention.

Personally, maybe the money should be used to bring in a couple decent players next season. For example a central defender.
The ground may not look all that great, but it is still league standard. I think any money we do bring in should be used to either pay off debts, or invest to make even more money.

As the board said, the money is a one off.  Personally I think it should go on developing the infrastructure of the club, rather than players.

I agree with Bob.  Hopefully if we stay up we can have a small increase to the playing budget as money that was going to the tax/vat can be diverted to the wages.

However we now need to provide facilities that we can be proud of.  Its been a fair few years since we have spent any money on teh ground (understandably) but it doesn't last forever.

If we stay up, is there not going to be a fair influx of money as a result of the Setanta Sport television deal involving the conference? Prehaps this money could be used in regards to funding some players...

Any money would be dependant upon games being shown I think but I doubt it will be a huge amount. Don't Sky pay about £5000 per game shown?

Bit of a vicious circle really.

Setanta showing a game relies on there being adequate lighting for the cameras.

According to the Programme yesterday we cannot get the grant we wanted to upgrade the Floodlights to an adequate level for televising football so the upgrade may have to be put on hold if an alternative funding source cannot be found.

This may mean that Setanta can't show any games from Moss Lane

I propose that we invest in a lovely, fluffy and comfy cushion, so that Justin Bowler's time spent sitting in the Main Stand can be even more comfortable...
