Furnival came to us from Lancaster City, where he'd scored a hatful of goals over the previous few seasons, with a very good reputation. He could actually finish reasonably well, but wasn't blessed with pace, and despite being a six footer he was woeful in the air (sorry Cult, but that was also my main problem with Tunna !). Therefore he seldom actually got into a position to USE his finishing skills and was constantly berated by the fans.

He may have made a better keeper than the other big signing that year......calamity John wood....he possibly would have made a better manager than Les Rigby......but as a striker crap is an understatement...but maybe we'd been spoilt with the likes of Joe Pritchard and John huges?

Les Rigby, the bloke who broke up a decent side and replaced it with mediocrity.

Joe Pritchard was a great player to watch, like a real life Roy of the Rovers. John Hughes needs no explanation, although his promise of a big career petered out rather.

I get a bit mixed up with various eras, but Alan Wolfe and Len Dickenson were favourites of mine too along with Andy Windsor, earlier though I think, 73ish?
