Unchanged starting lineup again. Hopefully we can exploit their inexperienced side and get all three points!

Chester would already be relegation fodder without Kevin Ellison, he's scored again.

Windies 6 wickets down: could we have a surprise England victory?

Liverpool penalty - 2-0 (Gerrard).

I can't get it at all, but they often stop internet commentary at half time. Should come back for the 2nd half.

I'm hoping tonight we break our current dismal run, a point will do me, anything else a good bonus. I firmly believe another 6 points wiull be enough. Lets get somewhere towards that target tonight.

No, I mean it stopped before the end of the first half. It came back on just after the half time whistle - fat lot of use.

Presumable the games on TV affecting attendance.

Seriously I don't know why people bother  listening to regional radio commentary. It is never from our point of view, so the local tin pot stations are anti us from the start and covered by poor reporters who will never ever polish the boots of Alan Partridge.

A drop of 200 as compared to our regular home support seems quite drastic even when you consider the televised football.

In fairness our singers are still making themselves heard as always!

735!

Christ thats poor, against a team with a following. Worst gate of the season.

How many fans do we have who only come when we are winning. Scousers on Tv withstanding, they're not our team.

Very worried and disappointed by this,

Yes, March, the usual late season slump in form. Reason I don't know, perhaps fitness, as a part time outfit I don't know.

Lets just get something tonight otherwise the rot can set in.

Inevitable I'm afraid and a huge blow, but 3 very winnable home games coming up, which could all but make us safe. Remember, we have lost at home to two exceptional sides recently. The only thing which troubles me is the lack of goals from our front 3 at the moment. Still too early to panic Captain Mannering!

90+2

Shots on target
10  Alty  v  Torquay  6

Same old stories.  Can we have Banim & Denham back?

If you look at tonight's subs; who was going to come on & make a difference?

No need to panic? All the teams below us picked up points tonight including wins for Barrow and Salisbury

Title: Re: Torquay match thread
Post by: brian1925 on March 10, 2009, 09:46:15 PM
People at the match tonight are still in a state of disbelief - can't believe we've blown it. Now it is a very good sign when you can come out of games v Stevenage and Torquay feeling that way. There are lots of points to be had v Weymouth (kids), Kiddy (back to not winning away) and Crawley and then more v Eastbourne (not playing as well as when we should have played them last time), Lewes (lose every match by a goal) and Forest Green (we've already panned them once) - not all teams are as clinical as Torquay. Three wins from that lot should make us safe, but we desperately need Chris Denham in for out-of-sorts Col.
Title: Re: Torquay match thread
Post by: Paul Cain's Chip Pan on March 10, 2009, 09:47:10 PM
For all our good play and shots on goal, the amount of chances converted is way below what it should be. We are playing with three up front but the strikers just aren't doing their job.

I think there is a very strong case for recalling Denham.

Especially if the rumour is correct that Chris Senior tore his hamstring tonight. He didn't look at all comfortable when he limped off.

Stop having a go at Col, he went close tonight forcing a good save from that mammoth of a goalie.

The one cleared off the line was a sickner.

Lawton gave the goal away and presented them with a few chances when he fluffed clearances.

All said we deserved at least a point, although there fitness showed near the end. O'Neill did well when he came on, but i tooo would recall Denham.

Anyway onto Weymouth and lets hope we can see them off.

To be perfectly honest he is not right. Couple of points. It was a bloody good goal. Coburn got his fingertips to it and it has hit the underside of the bar and gone in. It was a brilliant strike.

Joe O'Neill came on and looked very good. Made a lot of chances and had a couple of shots himself. If we had someone following in then it could have been a different story.

Peyton came on, gave the ball away a few times at first but after that made a few passes and him and Joe worked well together tbh.

Yes tonight is a sickener how it happened but having a go at the players on the bench when they played well is not going to get us anywhere.

I am as gutted as anyone about tonight and we definately did not deserve to lose (not saying we should have won either) but there are some positives from tonight.

Paul Buckles reaction to the "we'll see you next year, mate" from the duke was also priceless!

Stop having a go at Col

Who was having a go at Col?

The strikers are quite seriously under-performing collectively, unless you consider 34 goals in 35 games to be an acceptable goal tally?

This problem needs to be addressed immediately otherwise it's going to cost us dear.

"This problem needs to be addressed immediately otherwise it's going to cost us dear"...............just what immediate action do you suggest ?

The attendance tonight for a mid table team Vs a top of the table Conf (ex-league) side was just over 700 something.........should we go and buy Daryl Clare in the morning, or maybe see if Stevenage want to sell us Morrison ?

I agree the goal tally is poor, but we are still in a position to secure our place in this league for next season.

Hear Hear.  I don't think Graham Heathcote and Graham Barrow will need to say too much in their pre-match talk this Saturday.
