« on: November 13, 2019, 05:42:59 PM »There’s 15 GBG pubs of current or recent editions in Pompey thoughIf I can take a three day break in Norwich, and do 17 of the 25 GBG pubs in the 2019 edition before bussing it to Kings Lynn, it should be a doddle to clear that little lot. I used to be very partial to Gale's HSB, brewed nearby in Horndean, but Fuller's bought them out and closed the brewery. Vandals.

Les passed away on Sunday aged 84. Signed by Freddie Pye, Les was a fabulous creative midfielder, who set up a good many of the openings from which Jack Swindells scored. He wasn't big, but he was quite hard when he needed to be.

Their forum is already dismissive of us, eg "should be a turkey shoot". However, Portsmouth are rather underachieving this season, and are in the lower half of League 1. Prior to putting 4 past Southend in their most recent league outing (and there IS a turkey shoot !) they'd only scored 16 goals in 14 games. We're perfectly capable of earning a replay. I hear the sound of ringing cash registers.....

Third time we've doubled up in cup and trophy in successive season (Bradford and Stockport last season). It's not a welcome trend. Possible, of course, that York may put out a weakened team.

Absolute rubbish from the BBC - I was prepared to accept minimalism while the game was live, but the later show was a disgrace. We've just punched above our weight, and ended a 19 match unbeaten run by an unarguably bigger club, yet more coverage is given to Gateshead and Chippenham who produced lesser results.
I now have a dilemma - I've missed all three away games in this cup run. If we're on our travels again in Round 2, do I stay away again on superstitious grounds ? Home draw please - Chichester or Kingstonian please !

« on: November 10, 2019, 04:29:50 PM »Don't forget there's still the highlights show at 5.15. Sounds like they were recording interviews with Peers and Thompson. The point of the live show was to cover happenings as they happened, and that what they did. They showed the penalty live, covered the goal, and had a handful of other reports. But then again it wouldn't be Alty without finding something to moan about.
The coverage on the BBC was exactly what I expected - the 5.15 show (BBC2) will show us off better. When TT saved the pen I opened the microphone up and shouted "Yes Thommo !" for Hash's benefit - I'm not sure what the other drivers made of it

The observation of a minute's silence beforehand is the correct way to remember the sacrifice that so many made to ensure that we had the freedom to lead our lives without fear. To then play a sporting fixture is an illustration of those freedoms. May we never take them for granted.

Feel a little momentum starting.A good result against a decent team, although there's an unnecessary streak of cynicism that they really don't need - and the referee was conned by them too often. Full marks to the lads for never giving up. Good to see Ceesay back in action again.
Any news on Densmore, who was replaced at half time ?
