Don't forget this-
« on: September 30, 2007, 08:30:42 AM »

This Sunday at 1pm at Moss Lane, there is a major fundraising football match between a side captained by Australian cricketer Glenn McGrath and an All Stars XI. Glenn's team is expected to include many famous cricketers and other sportsmen, including Darren Gough, Michael Bevan, Alec Stewart, Bryan Robson, Clayton Blackmore, Tim Bresnan, Stuart Law and Sussex's Chris Adams. The All Stars are led by Coronation Street's Mike LeVell. Entry to the game is just £5 for adults, £2 for concessionaries and just £10 for a family of two adults and two children.
The event has been organised by Altrincham chairman Geoff Goodwin and his wife Suzanne with the proceeds going to the McGrath Fiundation, a cancer chairty founded by Jane McGrath, and to Altrincham FC . As the the McGrath Foundation website explains, "Jane McGrath co-founded the McGrath Foundation with her husband Glenn after her initial recovery from breast cancer. Jane experienced first hand the shortage of breast care nurses in Australia during her treatment and became determined to help others in her situation. Today, the McGrath Foundation aims to raise funds to place more breast care nurses throughout the country while generating support and raising awareness of the cause".

The same evening there is "An Evening with Pigeon and Dazzler" where Glenn McGrath and Darren Gough will conduct a question and answer session with the guests at the Best Western Cresta Court Hotel in Altrincham

Just looked at this and worry about the photos, I'd thought there would be a good crowd in for this at least 2,000. Looks a bit empty?

before anyone Peake's me for not going I live in Surrey.

I couldn't go as I'm in London but the crowd was 667.  Not bad in my opinion, my guess would have been 350.

I believe it was a superb day

Twas indeed, the game really opened up and some great goals were scored, Team McGrath made a great come back and the penalty's were a nice touch to finish it off, there were loads of kids and families there who seemed to enjoy the day so hopefully we'll see them down at Moss Lane for some Alty games.

Geoff Goodwin was delighted with the amount of people who came today and my pictures were taken after the game most supporters were located in the stands, All the stars  were very happy to sign as many autograph's as they could.

attendance 667 (the neighbour of the beast) and a really enjoyable day. I think the 'Team McGrath' number 16 was quality and well worth a look at  ;)
