Brackley Pitch Inspection
« on: December 13, 2012, 09:33:26 PM »

I had to leave my palatial Southern mansion and travel to Stoke today, so on the way back I left the M40 and took the six mile detour to Brackley.  It is a really strange set up - the Ground is at the end of a residential street.

Football fever has hit the town - as I could show you if I knew how to post photos in this bloody thing

I drove down to the ground and tested the pitch grass in a field outside St James Park as I could not get in and didn't feel like junping the fence (no longer physically capable). It was 14:30 so close to kick off time and it was soft on top, just about took a stud but was clearly frozen below the surface.  I could imagine areas in shadow being unplayable..

The weather forecast after tonight is for temperatures up to 8c and even some rain.  Based on that it should be fine I reckon.

And indeed after a week of hard frost (it was minus 8 yesterday morning in Bucks), there is light rain and a temperature of 5C this morning
