Title: Tranmere
Post by: Mrs Warbouys on June 28, 2014, 02:35:06 PM
I note they've now scheduled a friendly at home to Everton on the same evening we are due to host them, bit annoying as I'm not sure the youth team of a league two side will be much of a workout after seeing our youth team play them a couple of months ago...

We should try to arrange a replacement fixture. Our players need to be tested ahead of the new season, not having an easy ride against the youth team of a club one division above us.

Our youth lads were evenly matched against theirs in the FA youth cup game at prenton park, bit late to do anything about it now I suppose

I think it takes the piss to be honest. The friendly would have been chosen as part of our preparations and now it won't be as good a test for our players as it should be.

Burnley treated us better than this.

It makes Tranny look rude and inconsiderate to be honest.

Why not put OUR youths out against them - playing it at the training ground, and arrange a better test for the first team at Moss Lane?

It was Cheshire Senior Cup, and we fielded a young but mixed side......but the point remains valid.

If everton say they are playing them on a certain date you can't really expect them to refuse it annoying as it is

Quite right Phil, however me mistaking it for FA youth cup illustrates how youthful both sides involved were!

It would be good if we could find some proper opposition for 22nd as tranmere have confirmed their Everton friendly now

Some tranmere supporters aren't best pleased either, they've booked a coach to come to altrincham, and have said they are still coming here rather than watching evertons youth team, seems a poor decision although one I understand

have to say as a former client of mine, Robbie was by far and away the most surprisingly decent and pleasant ex footballer we drove around....always remembered all the drivers names, had plenty of time to chat and had lots of time to give autographs and pose for pics with fans....has a very nice family as well...

Don't get me wrong. I have spoken to Robbie and he comes across as a very decent chap, but he does have girls' hair!

for some reason the alty fans website always opens up on page 22 of the threads for me, the way my browser has saved it. Anyway, top of the page was this tranmere thread.

who after today are now bottom of the football league. Shame they were too good to respect the alty friendly really. Maybe this is karmic retribution.

Nothing against them personally and a long way to go would be a potentially good localish game though.

Sadly, they'll have to do a Boston to be playing us next season I fear.

They've sacked bob Edwards this afternoon, probably in direct response to Worthington departing york

Sky Bet odds on next York City manager: 11/8 Russ Wilcox, 7/1 Steve Torpey, 10/1 Gary Mills, Neil Aspin, 12/1 James Beattie, 18/1 Micky Adams

Scunny's ex-manager is the bookies' favourite for the York job.....see above.

If Ukrainian Phil is out there somewhere, I for one would be interested to know what's gone so badly wrong at York since they made the play-offs last term.

Good question that - I don't go to see them and no longer work with any City fans so no ideas at all.  Worthington iss till a good manager in my view, they'll do well to get a better man than him.
