Signed for an 'undisclosed' fee , interested EFL clubs, decent pedigree and local links too - looks the part .  Welcome to Alty , Oliver .

The research done on all the players is truly stunning and all of them have really interesting back stories which makes for great reading - top job .  I can only say that there are quite a number who cannot be looked on as Alty legends , some having only played a handful of games .

Yes , agree with all of this - but surely they must all be going to the pride of Tameside 😊

There was another v City first team , 71 or 2 i think .  They won with a late goal and the ref blew up early when their fans invaded the pitch to mob Rodney Marsh , Colin Bell and co .

I remember back in the early 1970's a friendly v a Utd Xl , coming down from the station there must have been at least a dozen police officers at different points on Moss Lane ?  What a joke and completely OTT , the crowd was around a thousand with barely a handful of fans from Traffords other full professional club !

In terms of what we missed out on the Colchester late show was a triple sickener - probable televised replay , televised next round home to Charlton then a third crack at Spurs , only this time at the mecca.  We'd have had the fanzone 5 years ago .
Couldha , Wouldha , Shouldha .

All the very best Jake .   Really pleased to see Buxton go up - as opposed to FCUM and South Shields .

It's the difference in odds between Phil and the 2nd fav that worries me .

Does'nt look too promising at all . Despite all the positive vibes from Parky going forward with us , the lure of a former top division club of their size and history would be extremely hard to refuse . It comes down to loyalty v ambition and money . This is if the rumours are true of course .

Bang on Sanghall . Thinking of Freddie Pye he was brilliant for us at Cheshire League level but just could'nt build a decent NPL side where he used the latter day Neil Young practice of making mega numbers of signings ( mostly older heads ) hoping it would work out . We know how the story ends !

Great thread this . I concur with all of the above and in particular the South Liverpool debacle inspired by Albie Nieman and Eric Shreeve , and yes we were lucky it was only 0-6 !  Others that immidietely spring to mind include honourless ' upsets' by he likes of the mighty Sandbach Ramblers , Pwllheli & District , Winsford Utd amd Cammell Laird in various cups .
