Can't blame Sinnott any more than anyone else.

Think when teams press and close us down quickly we panic and hence the hoof ball.

Well, exactly and this is where the Boshell argument comes in. When you have a good ball playing midfielder in front of the back four he takes the pressure off them. Just knitting play from side to side is quite important in creating space in our own half for players to make measured decisions and to get the ball out to our wingers when we are ready.

We've got a couple of numpties on here who don't know the first thing about playing the game who seem to think this is 'slowing our game down' but it's a vital part of the game. Look at how assured Robbie Williams was when he had Tom Kearney doing the same and then the effect on the team (and Robbie) after Tom's injury. If you don't have a player there doing it the ball ends up with your defenders and the opposition can set up to defend easily.

It's a particular skill as well. Jake Moult was put in that position after Boshell left and although he's really decent on the ball and can pass it he often didn't go anywhere at all and struggled to influence the game.

Imo it's a huge factor in our (not quite sure of the word) slide in standards not replacing Boshell ( I won't revisit what happened - fact is he went and needed replacing). The mitigating factor is that these players are really quite rare at this level, hence why only Boshell and Kearney have really done it in recent years and must be very very hard to replace.

The other option is to alter the side's style of play but we don't really have the tools to play any other way.
Agree and thanks for the t shirt like a lot a size to small though

We are looking at being in the playoff's.  There is no way anybody should be rocking the Alty FC boat with at most 10 games to go.  Win promotion and we have a very different situation to contend with next year, so apart from having a bit of a vent of what is the point of discussing the merits of Lee Sinnott now?

Right now we need to stand together.

One Alty.
The problem is this club never like to rock the boat

Any boat rocking required can wait until we know what we're doing next year.

You are right but when on form we are capable of beating any team in the play offs

It seems to me that we are getting too predictable, especially without Nicky.
Any half decent team can formulate a game plan against us and carry it out fairly simply. God help us if we get promoted and fail to counter that.

Telford was a draw, look at the table on the main site..the sea of red and yellow above us, and green below shows we are bottom 2 playoff at best, same as last year. We're going to end up with more points than last year by having more wins and less draws, but the same number of defeats.

Very deflating performance against Telford and we could easily have been on the end of a 6-1 drubbing.

We played right into their hands by conceding needless free-kicks in our own half and then twice watching an unmarked player head the ball past Stuart Coburn from the resulting delivery.

Two injuries and our squad looks threadbare.

Plus Moult's form appears to have totally deserted him.

Credit to Walshaw for his persistence in forcing the error that created his goal.

I agree, and should we make the playoffs just about anything can happen.

I'm backing Lee and the team to get us promoted this season.

Yesterday we were our own worst enemies and played right into Telfords hands
More often than not we had no wingers yesterday. Both Richman & Lawrie came in off the flanks far too often leaving the defence with 2 options of where to pass the ball.

1)Into a very crowded midfield area where there is no space because all 4 alty midfielders are within 15/20 feet of each other enabling Telford to very easily
& quickly close us down. This in turn means the full backs have to try to get forward and provide some width which leaves us wide open at the back to a quick counter attack
when we loose the ball.
2)Hoof it long and hope for the best as we dont play with a target man.

I cant say if packing the central midfield area was pre planned or not but if it wasnt the Sinnott should have sorted it out. He did look a very forlorn man in the second half.

Spot on Trouty.
Perhaps one of our management team should spend some time with us behind the goal and then even they might see how narrow we are and what an absolute  jumble our mid field is.
